  1. Link to System X eBay auction: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 180559118747 ..Al
  2. I really need to get that Atari lamp off the front page. Can anyone recommend any interesting Atari or Classic Gaming-related auctions? Thanks! ..Al
  3. These look great! So I assume when playing Tempest you just hit the D-pad in any direction to fire? I love how the top of the spinner has been engraved! ..Al
  4. Yes, I just need Atari and Coleco carts, no need for Imagic at this time, but thanks for asking. I do want to stress that carts should be clean, no stains, no permanent markings on the plastic, no scratches/engravings on the plastic, and just picture and text label carts. The clean/no scratches is especially true with the Coleco carts, since they are off-white and show imperfections much more easily. A little dirty with those is fine, but if it looks like it'll require a belt sander to get the cart "clean", I won't be able to use it. Thanks, ..Al
  5. I no longer have any Macs capable of running OS 9, so I can't check. It's unlikely to look good, at any rate. I actually tried disabling the animation initially (I don't like it either) but it broke the viewer aesthetically. I did set the animation speeds to the fastest allowed. The defaults are much slower, and supremely annoying when I encounter them on other sites (the viewer I'm using is pretty common). I do hear what people are saying about A) being able to open pictures in another tab/window easily, B) having the browser window screwed up when a picture is too large that you have to scroll right and C) one more step involved in being able to save a picture (you have to click the "Save" link, if you can find it, in the bottom-right corner of the window). There are some shortcuts, for instance, you can use the left and right arrows to move quickly through images, and you can hit "Escape" to close the window. It's a tradeoff, it's nice when there are many pictures in a message as you can look through them quickly, but the cons are probably not worth the benefits of viewing an image in the same window. ..Al
  6. LOL, I think it's 72 games a case, so that's over 400 cases. Shipping would be a small fortune as well. Not to mention having to store many pallets of games. ..Al
  7. I've gotten stalled on this the last several days, but need to get back on it soon. ..Al
  8. For several years I've said I've wanted to go, so hopefully I can follow through with that threat soon.. ..Al
  9. Late Friday and Saturday nights are the best time to play, as the crowds have thinned out and it's easy to get some time on your favorite machines. ..Al
  10. I simply forgot to add a link to the Intellivision Programming forum in the "Programming" category. I just fixed this problem, thanks for pointing it out. ..Al
  11. I assume they worked fine in the Vader? I've never encountered a 7800 that would not run the majority of 2600 carts I've tried, so that's an interesting issue. I'm not familiar enough with the 7800 architecture to know what would cause this particular behavior, but I'm sure there are others here with the knowledge to chime in. Anyway, sounds like you may need to get another 7800. ..Al
  12. Great pictures, thanks for sharing them. I'd love to get to one of these. Maybe I can fund such a trip by bringing a bunch of PAL homebrews with me! ..Al
  13. I have a small batch of boxes for Halo 2600 available. These are hand-built boxes, very strong, and will look great sitting next to your other 2600 games. Two pictures are included below. Boxes will be shipped inside in a box, not a bubble envelope or some other inappropriate packaging. The box itself will be inside a thick, protective polyethylene bag. A cartridge insert for the box is also included, which adds more strength to the box and keeps your cartridge from sliding around. Price is $30 shipped in the US and Canada, $35 elsewhere. Before you balk at the price, please keep in mind that these are HAND BUILT boxes, not produced in large quantities by a printer. This is also why I don't have a larger number to offer. As I only have a small number of these boxes, please PM me if you're interested and I'll give you payment information if boxes are still available. Only one box per person, please. I will update this post once they are sold out. Thanks, ..Al
  14. A Jaguar controller was my first thought until I remembered the Intellivision controller has more than eight discrete directions. An analog stick is pretty much the only way to go there. Not sure how much of a pain it'll be to use a separate keypad, but at least the Jaguar controllers are easy enough to find. You do have a whole bunch of extra buttons on a Playstation controller. Four D-Pad directions, the four buttons on the right, select and start, and the four L/R buttons at the top. You need three "fire" buttons, but that leaves plenty of buttons on the PSX controller that can be "mapped" to keypad buttons. This would work well for games that just use a few of the keypad buttons and especially for games that require quick access to them. You could still have a normal keypad plugged in. Actually, if you could keep a regular Intellivision controller plugged in, then you could still use the overlays.. This discussion should be moved into a separate topic. ..Al
  15. More so than just about any other system, the Intellivision really needs replacement controllers. It's too bad they are hardwired into the system (discounting the Intellivision II, of course). I wonder if they are soldered onto the motherboard. Even then I would be happy to go in there and desolder the old controllers if it meant I could use another controller. The hard part is the fact that the Intellivision really needs a keypad controller, so you need to work that in somehow. ..Al
  16. Oh my, you have my attention with those screenshots! Time for me to install those sticks on a pair of Intellivision controllers. Time also for me to create an Intellivision Programming forum! ..Al
  17. It's still going to be predominately arcade games. The classic game consoles were very popular last time, though, so I think they are expanding on it a bit and also including some modern consoles. I plan on setting up two 2600s, one 5200, two 7800s, two ColecoVisions and maybe a Jaguar. May also bring an XEGS if I have enough space. If you live in Houston how could you not go? ..Al
  18. Kick ass! Make sure you're wearing your AtariAge uniform! ..Al
  19. The Houston Area Arcade Group (HAAG) is holding their annual Houston Arcade Expo on October 8th and 9th at the Houston Northwest Crowne Plaza. Admission is $30 for a weekend pass or $20 for a single day, and discounts are available if you buy your tickets in advance. Admission gains you free-play access to over 200 classic and current coin-op pinball machines, video arcade games, penny arcades, and console video games. There will be tournaments, events, music and workshops to keep the young and young at heart entertained. Speakers include Dan Ferguson (Lone Star Pinball Museum) on the History of Pinball, Ken Graham (former Williams Programmer), Retro Pinball talking shop about their new pinball and many more. You can also participate in the free swap meet, repair clinics, win door prizes, enter the raffle to win an arcade game, and take advantage of the concessions and full bar. AtariAge will be at the show, and we'll have a slew of classic gaming systems setup for play! There aren't many opportunities to enjoy large collections of classic arcade games, so if you are in the Houston area (or can get there!), you should be at this expo! For more information, please visit ArcadeCenter.com.
  20. Is there enough interest here in Intellivision programming to warrant an "Intellivision Programming" sub-forum? ..Al
