1. Andrew - It looks like the link isn't working. Thanks,
2. Corey - Thanks again for the excellent review. Any chance we can get feedback (pics/reviews) on the games, in particular the *new* games??? Thanks,
3. I was not getting pictures either, but after registering for the forums the pictures are now displaying. Hope this helps! Thanks,
4. You could always move to Austin where all the cool people live! ..Al 891440 Funny you should say that Albert - I'm moving to Austin in the next few months from Connecticut after 38 years in New England. I'll miss the 2600 Tourney unfortunately, but it sounds like there's plenty of cool things going on in Texas that I'll be able to enjoy. BTW - is the AGE ever coming back or is the one in Dallas taking it's place? Thanks,
5. Awesome!! Thanks Curt! 891074
6. Curt, I noticed that the cable is composite video with mono sound - how easy (or difficult) will it be to "upgrade" to S-video with stereo? Are there two pins for the 2 sound channels? How about chroma/luma/vsync pins for S-video? Thanks again!
7. Awesome!!! Any review on the new games, in particular Pong, Yars' Return, Lunar Lander, Space Duel & Caverns??? Thanks!!!
8. Thanks again for the info Curt - both games sound really cool! Here's an off-base question that I'm sure you've heard by now: Has Atari considered releasing any of the new games on cart, perhaps after the FB2 has been out for a while? I know there's probably a tech support nightmare involved (kinda the reverse of having a cartridge slot on the FB2, with new carts being put in old systems) but I was wondering if this may be a possibility. PS I saw the extra ship graphics made it into Asteroids Deluxe. Awesome! 882443
9. Wow - those screenshots of Asteroids Deluxe and especially Space Duel certainly look pretty good! The anticipation level of getting the FB just went up a notch (if it could even go up any further!). It looks like Space Duel supports 2-play simulatneous play - sweet! Thanks for the pics Curt!
10. Hello, Does anybody know how to configure it so you get only 1 email notification when there are multiple replies to a topic you've subscribed to? The old message board would send you one email when there was a reply (and no more until you visited the topic again). This one sends me an email for every reply!! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
11. Thanks for the info Tempest. I went on Ebay but none are for sale. Have you tried them (I'm sure you have)? How is the joystick/paddle combo work out? Is it similar (in feel) to the Coleco Gemini? They look a little bit better built. If they're something that people actually use and you're interesting in dumping a few, send me a PM. Thanks!
12. A little off topic - but has anyone tried the Atari 2800 controllers? They look pretty cool - I wouldn't mind having a couple of those.
13. Let him wrap around, or else it'll seem like Omega Race. For my money, you've done a great job of Star Castle, and it seems plenty hard enough. Yar used to be able to wrap around on the original Yar's, so having him not wrap around will be different from both the first Yar's and Star Castle, too. Both are classics and both have wrap around. Code freeze is the 24th? Time for a PM :!: 875317 Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. You can wrap around in Star Castle, so I don't see why not here. Sounds like with the little bugs going after you, they can trap you extremely easy, so it'll be a very hard game if you don't include wraparound. 875388 Maybe this can be a game option or a great use of the difficulty switches?
14. Nah, Bane's comments are quite constructive, actually the game code freeze is on the 24th, so while there's time, its always good to get some feedback and trying to give a few extra finishing touches to the games and add any last minute improvements. Curt 873744 Curt, Since there's still time - any chance we can see the extra ship graphics in Asteroids? I hear it's only 1 byte of code that needs to change... Thanks again for all the sneak peeks - I can't wait to get a hold of a couple of these things.
15. Curt - thanks for the pics - looks awesome!! It's going to be a long 2 months before I can buy this thing... Thanks again!
16. I am very sorry, but I have to disappoint everybody here. I had to cancel the deal because "Atari" and I could not come to agreeable terms to satisfy both sides. Wow - I'm surprised people aren't more upset about this (maybe news hasn't spread yet?). Is there going to be an official announcement from Atari about this since Thrust was listed as one of the 40 games? Any news on a possible replacement? This sucks.
17. Nope. What kind of problems would you expect? 861768 None of course! I was just confused since to display the extra ships only took changing one byte of code yet the original programmer decided not to leave it in. IMO it only makes the game look cooler!!
18. IIRC not even Brad Stewart remembers exactly, why the ships had been removed. So I doubt we will ever solve the mystery arond this. 861757 That's interesting. Has there been any reported problems with your hack that displays the ships?
19. Maybe I can later release the game as a hack... Did you change the single byte for displaying the remaining ships? 860101 Curt - was the extra ship code included? I've been talking to my brother about the FB and we always wondered what happened to the extra ships in the Asteroids screen shot in the catalog we got back in the early 80's. It would of been nice to put this mystery to rest!! Either way - vector Asteroids is going to be a great addition. Thanks,
20. Although the vector hack is cool, Thomas' hack with the extra ship icons and the asteroids that moved faster and at sharper angles would of been better. I know Thomas submitted Thrust! - what other game was he involved in??? Any hints? Curt had contacted me about an Asteroids hack and I forwarded him to several hacks, including mine. But I really don't know what happened then. 858767 Awesome.. I wouldn't need credit or anything (it was just a casual free to all hack). But if it is on there I think it's definitely cool 858888 859798
21. Curt - do you mean that another system is in the works that will include sports games? If so, any plans for updated or homebrew sports games being included? I hope so!!! BTW - thanks for all the information you've "leaked" about FB 2.0 - it is much appreciated!
22. Man, am I the only one who enjoys that game? 859037 Nope. 859686 I remember playing Homerun with my brothers back on Christmas '78. At the time I had never played a video game, never mind baseball on the TV!!! As lacking as it seems now, I really enjoyed playing this game and used my imagination to fill in the obvious gaps. For me, the red vs. the blue team was always the Red Sox vs. the Yankees (I was always red ). Good times.
23. I must say that I'm really excited about the FB 2.0.0 and will definitely be picking up 1 or 2 when it gets released. I was on vacation the last week and could not wait to get back home to check on the news coming out of E3 about this product. When can we expect the definites about this system - like the complete game list, specs, etc.? Has anyone confirmed that Yars' Return is included and, if so, who programmed this? Any screenshots of Caverns of Mars? I was eagerly anticipating E3 for news; now that it's come and gone, when's the next milestone for annoncements? Wow - it feels great to be eagerly awaiting a release from Atari - it's been more than 20 years since I could say that!! Thanks,
24. Seeing as it's been nearly three years since this link was posted, it no longer works. But did it have something to do with grabbing the key from the bottom right and shoving it up into the upper lefthand corner of the Gold Castle room so it appears on the bottom, a few inches from the left? If you do that and lure Yorgle into the castle, he scrolls along the bottom of the screen. Is that sort of how the AVI went? Wow - three years since this came up!! Anyway, I'm glad someone showed interest in this - I always thought it was really cool. I have seen the "scolling" Yorgle as you described; this trick actually paralyzes him!! - Start on game 1 - Get gold key. Hold it so it's to your right. - Go down to the next screen. "Peek" into the room to the left so that the yellow key isn't seen. Yorgle will attack. - When he gets close enough, make him "bite" you. The gold key will be on the screen now so he'll be running when he finishes his "bite". - While he's in his "bite", move the gold key so that it is lined up vertically with Yorgle. You are trying to line it up right on his mouth. - When he's done "biting", if you have the key lined up vertically, he'll either move up or down to get away from the key. Which ever way he moves, move with him. You are faster than Yorgle so it's possible. - Try to "stop" right when the key is lined up on his mouth. If you do it perfectly, he'll be paralyzed!! At this point, you can drop the key. I've gotten pretty good at this - but it takes me at least a couple times to get it right. If you need help, let me know and I'll dig up the AVI and email it to you. Have fun!!
