  1. Hello all, I'm getting into collecting some 5200 stuff and I'm looking for the following if anyone has it for sale: 5200 Berzerk 5200 Space Dungeon 5200 Robotron joystick coupler for Robotron/Space Dungeon I prefer the games to be CIB. I plan on playing them so they don't have to be shrinkwrapped. Please PM me if there are any offers. Thanks!!!
  2. Has anyone ever done a mockup of what Zookeeper may have looked like? Any programmers out there that have an idea how this could of been pulled off (especially the first screen)? Did Mr. Vieira confirm or deny that the gameplay elements had been worked on? Did he ever see the game in action? It would be interesting to find out...
  3. Wow!!! These sound awesome!! They almost sound like samples from the arcade game ... I'm very impressed. Now if only the game can be found!! PS Great job Thomas - I think you nailed the driver down pretty good!
  4. There also may be a new sports game available for the 2600 in 2005...
  5. That's a good idea. A solid playfield with no color change in the middle would save many cycles and venetian blind sprites (ala Video Chess) would look much better. Thanks!
  6. Actually, looks like you only need the color change in the middle. Hmm... since I'm alternating Black/White - White/Black on each scanline, I have to set the color at the beginning of the line and then change it in the middle (2 color changes). Black/White White/Black The last color of a line is the first color of the next - so you don't need to change it at the start of the next line. Good catch!!

  8. Thanks for the input. First off, I'm not suggesting that doing this would be trivial or even possible. The POC for the board is just step #1 (if the board couldn't be done, then why do the rest?? ). Your points are all legitimate concerns and probably why this hasn't been done yet. Some ideas: - power squares don't have to be marked. this can be documented instead since these never change (anyone who's played Archon knows what 5 squares are power squares) - although 9 pieces on one line are possible, it is highly unlikely (as is 8 and 7). On average there will be between 4 and 5. Flicker would need to be used for some cases, but I'm sure the "average case" could be displayed without sending anyone to the ER. - I think the missiles might be able to be used for the game pieces. The board I'm displaying is using just the playfield and the background (the playfield color alternates between black and white). - how does Video Chess display 8 pieces on one line? I know about the venetian blinds trick - but are missiles used along with the player graphics? Does it flicker? This could be a good example to work off of. I completely agree with you on this. It would be naive to think that a game written for a much more powerful system (800xl, C64) would translate to the 2600 without *any* concessions. Maybe a 7x7 board would make things much easier (PF1 is no longer needed for the board in this case).
  9. Here's another version running on PCAE. This one has smaller squares (16x8). Advantages is that PF0 is no longer needed (more cycles!!!)
  10. Here's a quick demo of one possible way to do the board in Archon. It's using the venetian blind technique on the playfield: - playfield is reflective - playfield registers have to be loaded on each line - one color change at the beginning of the line, one in the middle - background color cycles from light to dark For the pieces, you would need to also do a similar approach (venetian blinds). At most 5 sprites would have to be displayed on a scanline. Timing will be tight, and PF0 might have to be dropped to save time (the pieces are 16 pixels wide; could be cut down to 12). Anyway, this game was one of my favorites. I'll see what else I can do with this. Any suggestions? Thanks,
  11. norville, If you'd like, I have a box of CHAMP Cables that were left over when I closed my business. I'll be more than happy to send you one just for the shipping costs. It works great with the PPJoy driver (it even has an option to choose Champ Games!). PM me you address if you're interested.[/url]
  12. That's weird - I was just playing 2600 Dragonfire yesterday and was thinking the same thing! (about an update) Wasn't the Intellivision version of Dragonfire more in-depth - I believe there were archers on the first level shooting arrows at you. I'm not sure if there were any other additions. Sounds like a great idea!
  13. Much better - thanks Thomas!!! PS How do they get 4 independant players on a line without flicker? Are they using P0 and P1 for two of the players and M0 and M1 (with different widths and repositioned) to draw the other two?
  14. Hello all, I've recently tried to play M-Network's International Soccer for the 2600 on z26 and pcaewin but have gotten some weird results. The game looks ok to start but the field doesn't scroll up correctly (when you move down) and there are some graphic glitches as well. The game just seems to run funky. Has anybody else experienced this? I am using the ROM called "pele_tw.bin". Thanks!
  15. Done and done!!! Can't wait for this one!!
  16. Here goes nothing: 1. Kaboom! 2. Adventure 3. Asteroids 4. Space Invaders 5. ars' Revenge 6. Frogger 7. Gravitar 8. Millipede 9. Midnight Magic 10. Circus Atari
  17. Unbelievably addicting game. I just put this on my CC2 and played it on a real Atari (7800). Except for the fuzzy RF video (but that's for another thread ). Finally broke the 100 barrier (102) when I hit a series of (!) power-ups in the blue zone. Tip of the day: Avoid the BUBBLE OF DEATH!!! Thanks again Alex,
  18. Wow!! I just started playing this game and it's unbelievable!!! Very addictive and has that old-school Atari game quality of being simple to play. I've managed a score of 78 and have seen the helicopter and skateboard?? Question: I was playing a game and doing quite well (for my standards) and saw what looked like a bubble. Unfortunately, when I tried to pick it up the game went black. Any ideas? I think I'm playing the latest version. By the way - I'm playing on z26 with no parameters. Does this sound right?!? Either way - it's a fantastic game and a must-buy IMO. Can't wait for it to go on sale. Great job Alex!! Thanks,
  19. Wow - great hack!! The 3rd level really adds a lot to this game. This may sound picky, but is there a way to change the color of the walls on the 3rd level so they don't look like the 1st level? I believe they were yellow/gold on the Coleco/arcade version, but I may be wrong. Either way - congrats on a great hack!! Thanks,
  20. Tempest - Great find!! Please assure Mr. Kranish that the interest level for a completed Risk for the Atari 8-bit and 5200 would be huge (at least from me!!). Great write-up on your prototype page - it sounds like the game is almost complete. I think the addition of the map, computer AI and some bells and whistles and this is a winner!!! Thanks again for the info.
  21. Double Dangit!!! I have my 7800 set up with the CC2, but the video is terrible... I have my 2600 with the Cybertech S-Video set up but I have to swap carts.... Tempest - any news on that prototype that was installed in your 7800? Any details? This RF is killing me!!!! HELP!!!!
  22. Hmm... would love to play if I only had the ROM. All I got is this Cuttle Cart 2 and about 10 copies of the Parker Bros. version.
  23. Thanks for the info sku_u...I'll contact doubledown and see what the deal is. Thanks again!
  24. Hmm... this "doubledown" mod sounds interesting. I have a CV but can't stand the picture quality - is there a link to this AV mod? As for the controllers, I've only used a roller controller way back when and it seemed adequate. Still looking to get a 5200 one for a proper test.. Thanks,
