  1. Tempest - I see your point about your Cypher game, but I don't think you're comparing apples to apples. You are still working on your Cypher game, and it's a personal project of yours. These unfinished protos (as in the case of EA) have been abandoned by a company (not the programmer) for almost 20 years. And sure, there was usually one person working on the games, but the ownership of that code is pretty fuzzy. IMO, (as a programmer), if the project I was working on at my last company gets finished by someone else, it's really none of my concern any more. Either way, it would be interesting to have these games finished by someone, if only for a "what if" scenario...
  2. Tom, Speaking of "serious bugs" in almost complete prototypes, I think Elevator Action would be much more playable if these three "bugs" could be fixed: 1) The "hang in the air" bug when you jump 2) The long wait for the elevators 3) The Saturday Night Fever slide you can do when you're ducking Just a thought... (I wish I knew how to program for the 2600!!! )
  3. I too was disappointed in EA - when people said it was 90% done I thought it would at least be fully functional. Not being able to jump properly (hanging in the air), the elevator that never comes (although now we now it does, it just takes a LOOOOONG time) and the lack of sound make this game only about 70% done. 90% in my book means it's in the final phase of tweaking/gameplay. Anyway, I think that saying Snow White is 30% done may be a little conservative - I would put it more about 50%. I'd rather be suprised playing a game I ponyed up 45 bucks for and say -"Hey, this isn't 30% done - it's more like 50%!!! Alright!" than what happened with EA. FYI Goochman - as I eluded to before - you can complete the first (and every other building) in EA. Just wait and that elevator WILL come - I promise!!
  4. Scott - Yes, Rabbit Transit was released by Starpath. But a proto version exists by Atari in cart format.
  5. Thanks for the info Tempest - sounds like a cool game. Hopefully HSW will agree to let someone produce it... Paul - good call on the D&D games - I completely agree. I was able to spend a good half-hour at the last CGE playing both AD&D Intellivision games for the 2600 - I was really impressed. I guess that license issue is going to hold that ever being released publically - much like LOTR.
  6. Tempest - You have a complete version of Saboteur? Is it any different from the ROM avaialable here at AtariAge? The game is really cool - excellent graphics and smooth gameplay - but I'm not exactly sure what the object is. As for releasing it, perhaps you could talk to HSW and see if he's interested in promoting a box/label/instruction release much like what Mr. Polaro did with Bugs Bunny and Holey Moley - who knows? On a side note, I must say that I really enjoyed the panel discussions at CGE - HSW in particular. His recollections (or non-recollections, as the case may be) were insightful, honest, and hillarious all in one...
  7. With the latest cart/manual/box releases of Snow White, Holey Moley, RS Basketball, etc., are there any existing ROM's that you hope will be produced in a similar manner for next year? My votes are for: Klax (NTSC) Save Mary! Grover's Music Maker Saboteur Rabbit Transit Dumbo's Flying Circus Donald Duck's Speedboat
  8. Chris - here's the link: Racquetball Looks like you were missing a letter...
  9. I also noticed the flipping channel #2 when the voice played, and the volume was horrible at CGE. But when I played it at home the experience was very different: no flipping # and the voice sounded great. I do think it was the TV/atmosphere at the expo that made the game seem a bit less impressive. As for Kickman, I can't wait for this one. Any news on this one? Thanks,
  10. Out of all the exclusives at CGE, this one and Marble Craze impressed me the most. On my 13" tv, the voice for Berzerk VE is very coherent and the volume is on par with the rest of the sound effects. The graphic enhancements and the title screen really polish things off. I am VERY impressed overall with the game, and for $20 bucks it was the best deal there. Hat's off to Mike Mika for a great "hack", although calling it that would be an injustice. He has truly expanded upon an already very good title and pushed it, in my opinion, to being a great title. Here's hoping that a collaboration between Mike and Tom will someday get the robots shooting diagnol. Not easy, I'm sure, but greatly appreciated.

    Cash for CGE

Stan - Not to worry - I'm getting you a copy as we agreed. As long as I can get one before it sells out, that is. I'll be there Saturday, bright and early. Paul - when does the game go on sale? Do you have a specific time? What booth will you be at? Thanks for any info. I don't want to let down the Stan Man!!!

    Cash for CGE

Hello everyone, I'm getting ready for CGE and taking out a second mortgage on my house to pay for all of these 2600 exclusives being offered at CGE. Is there a resource that lists all of the exclusives and their prices? I'm interested in almost all of the games, especially Marble Craze!!! Thanks for the help. I'd rather not go 100% LTV if I don't have to - better interest rates ya know.... Also - I've noticed that Thrust Plus is listed as one of the products at the Atari Age booth - will this be for sale? If so, how much? Will it come with a nice label/instructions/box?
  14. Hello everybody, I've been following this Barnstorming thread regarding Todd Rogers for the last few days and, except for a few lame comments, actually enjoyed the entire discussion and found myself following the story like a soap opera ("I wonder what happened today?!")... Anyway - like many people I'm sure - I tried my hand at Barnstorming and was able to get 32.97 - not too bad! I'm anxiously waiting to see Todd at CGE and get some tips/tricks on getting 32.50... This whole debate led me to twingalaxies.com to check on the record for the game I played alot as a kid (and was pretty good at too!) - Activision's Skiing, game 3. My best is 28.01 on what I thought was pretty close to a "perfect run" (I only have a couple digitial photos as verification). According to tg, that would rank me 3rd - again - not too bad!! Of course, the top score is from - you guessed it - Todd Rogers - with an incredible score of 27.51!!! Now, I don't want to open up another can of worms here - but does anybody have any idea (tips, tricks) on how this can be accomplished? I've spent numerous hours on this game and I can't for the life of me see where I could shave off a half a second from my time... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  15. I have a few rare ones: Q-Bert's Qubes - 9 Mr. Do's Castle - 8 Crazy Climber - 8 Death Trap - 8 Robin Hood - 8 Hoping to get my hands on a silver label Gravitar and a Quadrun someday....
  16. Great work Paul!! Stan - I just made my hotel and flight reservations for CGE - I'll be picking up a copy for you when I get there!! (thanks again for the Bugs Bunny... )
  17. Hello all - I have heard rumors that at CGE this year they are doing away with the "wait in line" fiasco that was CGE 2K1 (I was one of those waiting in line for EA and Combat II). Does anybody know how it's going to be handled this year? I heard it's supposed to be some sort of raffle ticket method. I am considering going again but I'm a little weary that the new method may keep some people who attend out in the cold when it comes to getting these games. I would be quite upset if I spend a thousand bucks to fly out to Las Vegas just to lose the luck of the draw for a copy of Save the Whales... Anyway, I know that standing in line doesn't gaurantee getting these games, but I would certainly feel a bit more "in control" of whether I got one of these games (last year I got up extra early and was 2nd in line on Saturday morning!). Just curious what my chances are - I've heard that there may be as many as 1500 people at this year's expo. Thanks for any info...
  18. The cooless thing I ever did in Adventure was freeze Yorgle with the yellow key. Also, I liked using the magnet to pull the chalice into the gold castle (to win the game) without putting it in their myself!
  19. Steve, Currently I'm using PCAE 2.6 under Win 2K. I use the keyboard to play. I was going to buy the cart from Hozer until this Thrust+ announcement was made - now I'm waiting (and hoping) for a chance to buy one of those!! I would love to play it on a REAL Atari... Good luck!
  20. room34 - Here is a AVI of how to paralyze Yorgle with the yellow key. Paralyzing Yorgle Enjoy!
  21. To get back on topic, here is the REAL reason why Yorgle runs away from the yellow key: He knows that if you drop the key right on his head, he's paralyzed forever!! (or until the stupid bat takes the key... )
  22. Wow! That's awesome news Thomas! Now I REALLY want one!! How is the contest shaping up? I didn't want to join because I didn't know what an average score is... I was able to (on game 1) get all the way to the reverse gravity levels (about 70K). Is this even competitive? If so, maybe I'll give it a shot... Thanks again and please consider making that 2nd production run if you can!!
  23. Sorry - a little off topic: Where can I find out information regard the status of Marble Craze? Thanks,
  24. Well, being a "johnny-come-lately", I put my list on the 51-99 reservation list, hoping that enough people join with me and a 2nd production run is made... Anyway - here's a question for Thomas: can Thrust+ SE be controlled by a joystick or is it specially programmed to use the driving controller/foot pedal only? Thanks!
  25. I always loved Pleiades too - the docking level was really cool... Hopefully whoever owns the ROM packages up the game for an official release...
