Hey - this competition thing is cool. How about throwing in Skiing (game #3) or Grand Prix (game #1)? PS I suck at Dragster, so I'll let that competition pass me by... Hey Stan - what's your best on Stampede? Mine is somewhere around 4000 - not sure exactly...

Stargate is awesome! I'm still amazed that it's a 2600 game when I fire it up, it's so close to the arcade. I'm trying to make a custom controller so I can have easy access to hyperspace, inviso and the smart bombs... And, I also think that ET is very underrated as well!! The pits aren't THAT difficult to avoid...

I was big into Demon Attack back in the day- the graphics and sounds were top notch and although it was repetitive, the different types of aliens gave the game a sense of "levels". At first, Phoenix turned me off probably because it seemed bland (especially compared to Demon Attack), but after a while it grew on me. Today, I'll play Phoenix for an hour but haven't played Demon Attack in a looong time... As for the question on the arcade game, it does give you two shots in the 2nd level.

That's great news Cassidy!! Be sure to bring a copy of your Polo game for him to see. I'm sure he'll get a kick out of the fact that people are STILL making Atari games... Have fun!

Hello all, I recently read a positive review on Spacemaster X-7 for the 2600 and wanted to give it a try in PCAE 2.6. After playing it for about 20 minutes, i gave up on what was a very repetiive game - all you could do is blast that one thing in the middle OVER and OVER again!!! After reading the instructions on Atari Age, i noticed a lot of things mentioned in the game that were not in the version i played. I decided to fire the game up in Stella and presto!!! You could now destroy the base, the energy meter moved, there were shields and many different kinds of enemies!!! Needless to say , I am very pleased with this game and I'm gonna try to get it in cart form... Anyone know what the deal is with how PCAE emulates the game? Is there a particular setting that needs to be done? Thanks, JohnnyWC

Cassidy, Thanks for the info. I did not know the story about the cross-promotion with ralph lauren - that's really cool!!! Anyway, I think 40 bucks is a great deal and would be interested in buying one after Philly3 if you still have some left. Let me know and thanks for a great product! JohnnyWC

Hello everyone, Just had a few questions on Polo - does anybody know how much it's gonna be sold for? Also - I've looked at the pics (which look fabulous) and noticed the cart says "ralph lauren polo" but the box and instructions say "polo". Any ideas why? Thanks, JohnnyWC

Official Release time for Polo at PC3: Friday at 7
johnnywc replied to Cassidy Nolen's topic in Atari 2600
Looks great Cassidy! How much are you gonna charge for it? I won't be able to make Philly3 but would be interested in getting one after the show... also - do the actual carts say "polo" or "ralph lauren polo"? If rlp, why? I get the joke, but are you doing that for any particular reason? Just curious.... Thanks, JohnnyWC -

And speaking of Ewok Adventure - has anyone put together a manual on this? I tried to play it yesterday on PCAE but I had no clue what I was doing. Was there a manual contest for this that I may have missed? Any tips? Thanks....

I'd have to agree with PeenNPoke on this one - I play Jedi Arena most frequently. Excellent graphics, good sound, awesome special effects, and the computer is a great challenge. I only wish I had another human to play against...

A model with a combo JAMMA joystick and built in paddle would also be very cool (very much like the coleco gemini stick, but with much better parts, although I would prefer a seperate button for the paddle, not rely on moving the joystick left ). You could use a regular atari paddle (the guts of it at least). I believe that the paddle and joystick can be hooked up simultaneously so it should be fairly simple to wire. Just a thought....

Thomas - I was playing your Asteroids hack with the DC, extra ships and tweaked gameplay (along with the vector graphics) and I must say you did a fantastic job. Question: how difficult would it be to allow the Color/BW switch to toggle between color asteroids/graphics and b+w graphics (like the arcade)? I'm sure you've been flooded with these types of ideas but I thought it may be pretty neat... Anyway, thanks again for all the "hacks", especially the Omega Race one using a standard joystick. Now if I could just get it on a cart...

Hello - Does anybody know what format and label BMX Airmasters was released in? I know there are a couple TNT labels and an Atari label - were there any others? Was this released as NTSC or PAL? I checked the Atari Age rarity guide and it had three listings: NTSC - TNT - Red Label NTSC - TNT - White label NTSC - Atari - Red Label Are there any others? Thanks,

Well, I was able to get to level 7 and score 23,275 points. Man - this game gets really frantic by then! I did some searches on the net and found some pretty scatching reviews on this game. I find the game quite entertaining and once you know what you're doing it can be very enjoyable and challenging. I hope people give this one a chance and, more importantly, release this one on a cart!

Thank you all for your help. I was able to save Mary three times in one game (standard skill level) for a whooping score of 12,685!!! Does anybody know if the difficulty switches do anything in this game? I must say I'm even more impressed with the game now that I've moved on to level 2, 3 and 4. The different shaped blocks really give it a Tetris-type feel and really make the game interesting and certainly more challenging. Of course, the water rising quicker and the blocks coming out faster really get the blood pumping. Then, of course, is the moment of truth when you have to choose between grabbing the 500 point bonus or concentrating on saving Mary... Today's poll: If you're playing Save Mary! and she's about to drown, is it more humane to let her drown or crush her with a block? My vote: crush her with the block (the Ol' Yeller syndrome) Thanks,

Hello everyone, I have been playing Save Mary! on the PCAE emulator and I can't save her for the life of me!! I can get her to climb pretty high, but it appears that I can't get her far enough left or right to get out of the canyon. It seems that the blocks will crumble when dropped a certain way sometimes and not others. Does anybody know the rule of thumb to use here? I can't stand to see that little girl die again... Help!! PS Fantastic game! Here's hoping that this one is finally released with full color label, box, and instruction manual! Thanks,

Hello everyone, I am contemplating making the 280 mile drive from Connecticut to PhillyClassic 3. Can anyone tell me a little about what I should expect? I went to CGE 2K1 last year and had a blast; has anyone attended both and can give a comparision of the two? Also - does anybody know what day the Bugs Bunny cart is being sold? If I go I definitely want to try to pick up that one... Thanks,

Well, after some numerous 'tests' and observations, I come up with the following game matrix: |1|2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9|0|1|2| Game # ---------------------------------- | | | | | | |X|X|X|X|X|X| Two Player | |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| |X| Fast play |3|5|8|3|5|8|3|5|8|3|5|8| Min/Qtr Left Difficulty: A - fouls are called B - no fouls are called Right Difficulty: A - computer plays intense defense B - computer plays relaxed defense Hope this helps!

Well, I played my first network Atari 2600 game today with my old co-worker. We played a game of bowling using the new PCAE and I must say it worked pretty well. My ping wasn't that good, so the response was a little choppy, but worked well with the turn-based game. We wanted to try combat, but it kept saying 'waiting for players'. Anyone have success with this one? Thanks,

Tempest - I was thinking exactly the same thing the other day. Even Atari's original basketball game was very popular; you think an update would have done very well. As for the hockey game, that still baffles me. I love Activision's version, but a full 5 on 5 or 3 on 3 game with 2nd or 3rd generation programming techniques would have been very cool. Oh well...

Manuel - FYI - the colors for Galaxian do not change with new levels. They're always the same. Thanks for the effort!
