  1. I know what you mean about the manuals. I'd say that 80%-90% of PSX games shouldn't cost more than a few dollars complete, so ones that are missing the manual I just donate to Goodwill rather than have to think about their incompleteness.
  2. Canned air is your friend! I think I'll try that. The thing is, there's a little slot with a cover that opens that allows you to insert the color wheel hub. I'd have to shoot the air through the slot, which about 1/8" wide and basically the only way for dust to come in or out. So, I might just swirl the dust around in there, but that wouldn't be so bad. I'm going to give it a try later.
  3. I'd love to have an Adventurevision as well, but I'm not familiar with the keyboard. Time for some research... The visor has some dust on the inside that I'd like to clean, but I don't want to crack the plastic. I may just leave it alone. Minestorm 3D is really fun, if only to see objects be one of *two* colors on the Veccy.
  4. If you're talking about the Namco neGcon, I have a loose one for sale or trade. It's yellowed but still works great.
  5. I'll try to get the info to you later today for both H6ers. I'm positive that I have an H6 with no switch that defaults to channel 4. Nobody else has one like this? Hmm, I was going to sell this one, but I may just wait.
  6. Thanks for the help. For the time being, I figured out a workaround that I'll share in case anyone else is in the same peculiar boat. I have a couple of original Odyssey 2 consoles as well. These have an RF cable with the same proprietary tip as the original Odyssey. (Later models of the O2 had a standard phono-type RF connector.) You can open the O2 and replace the original RF cable with a cable with phono (or RCA, don't know if there's a difference) tips at both ends to use with a phono/coax adapter. My first post reflecting my thinking that the O2 cable had the proprietary tip at both ends, but it doesn't. The O2 cable looks like this: My bright idea was to plug the proprietary end into the original Odyssey and plug the phono tip into the phono/coax adapter plugged into my TV. And it worked. Not great, but I could verify that my 1972 Run 1 Odyssey was working! The phono tip is just crimped onto the cable, so I may try to upgrade that connection later. So I guess I won't be needing that switch box anymore!
  7. Nice finds. I gave up on shopgoodwill.com recently. It seems as though prices for stuff went at least 25% over what you'd find on eBay. Good cause, though, which might explain what seem to me to be higher prices.
  8. I began collecting videogames with the Playstation platform. I'm selling off a bunch of games so that collecting doesn't get out of hand. I've got mostly PS2 but have about 70 PSX games left. I'm trying to concentrate on RPGs and interesting hardware. If you want a great, free guide to PSX releases, check out this ebook: PSX: The Guide to the Sony Playstation Here's the centerpiece of my hardware collection so far: If you don't know about this controller, Google SCPH-1180. Looks like a standard Dual Shock but isn't. I haven't ever seen one of these in the box on eBay until I bought this one.

I think sloopy may have one for you.
  10. I won this auction on eBay for some 8-bit stuff. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 280722776670 I'm most curious about the "diagnostic cart." I believe it is the cart on the bottom row in the middle with the whitish label. Any idea what this could be?
  11. Everything arrived today, well-packaged. And the 3D Imager ... WORKS! Plus, the other five games came with overlays that weren't mentioned in the listing. The helmet is in very good shape, except that I think it is missing the foam padding. My favorite eBay score to date.
  12. That was the "trick" I heard about on the podcast. Can't you do it every 1,000 points?
  13. There's an episode of the Retrogaming Round Up podcast (where they count down the top 10 2600 games, I think), where one of the hosts mentions a "trick" that he uses to get high scores on Kaboom. I won't mention it here because it is kind of a "spoiler," although it seems perfectly "legal" to me. Perhaps this is widely known already since I'm new to the 2600 scene.
  14. I was watching that one too! IIRC, when the bid got over $100, I checked out. Too much of a gamble for a possible test cart with a homemade label. Was it a score?
  15. This rare? Nope, not as rare as cocks teeth. When a buyer makes a good case for getting their money back, and so does the seller, ebay pays it. At least three cases I've been party to have had that result. One where I was the buyer, one where my wife was the buyer, and one where I was the seller. In most cases the seller has to appeal to the case after the final verdict, but eBay definitely foots the bill sometimes. Why do you think they keep raising the prices? Yeah, okay, mostly greed, but losses too, just like shoplifting raises the prices at the mall. OP, Rest assured, you should no longer communicate with the seller. If he keeps contacting you it is considered harassment. Ask eBay for an email for physical proof when you are on the phone, then move on. AX Here's an update on the situation. Read on if you're interested in how eBay handles these kind of cases. So the second CS rep told me that eBay did in fact deduct the money from the seller's account. She recommended that I tell the seller to appeal and reopen the case on the off chance that eBay would issue a return shipping label. But then I get an email from PayPal saying that my refund didn't go through because the seller's eCheck bounced! Now I'm back to square one. Today, I finally got a CS rep to escalate the case for me and transfer to a person with some power. He issued me a shipping label and initiated the process for eBay to refund my money. eBay will then deduct that money from the seller's account when it is in the black. I hope this is the end of it. Here's what I learned that may help those of us who buy a lot of old, heavy electronics. If you are a buyer and request a full refund from the seller, at least two things can happen. If the seller refunds your money without asking for the item to be returned first, eBay considers the case closed. The seller is not entitled to receive the item back (even though I would usually feel ethically bound to return it somehow). Because the case is closed, it is very difficult for you to get eBay to issue a return shipping label. Either the seller or buyer would have to pay the return shipping or work out a deal between them. If the seller won't refund until the item is returned, then you can get eBay to issue a return shipping label, but only if the case is escalated to eBay CS. eBay wants the seller to pay for return shipping but will still pay for it if the case is escalated. Because having a case escalated is bad for a seller in the long run (higher fees, lower rep, etc.), eBay thinks that most sellers would rather pay the return shipping cost instead of having an escalated case on their record. So, if you are a seller, it seems to me that you should always wait to refund until you get your item back -- otherwise you have no claim to your item.
  16. Can anyone recommend a 20"-24" 1080p LCD that is good for retro gaming? It will need to double as a computer monitor.
  17. Sorry to be late with this comment, but I have two H6, and one uses ch.3 and the other ch.4. Should ch. 3/ch. 4 be another variable?
  18. Okay, I'm convinced. Just picked up a CIB 7800 off eBay to go with the 7800 games I already have. Plus, I'm looking forward to playing all those 2600 carts that don't fit in my H6.
  19. I'm definitely interested if they come with the associated color wheel. Now I really hope this thing works!
  20. That's what I figured. It was worth the gamble on the off chance that this thing is working. If not, someone might be able to repair it.
  21. Thought I'd take a shot at these two items before I head off to eBay. I have an NES that I need to test but no power supply/AC adapter. Would like an original one. Found one for $2 at the local pawn shop. Still need the item below. I have an original Magnavox Odyssey that I need to test but no switch box (the beige one with the input for the proprietary end). I believe this came with some Odyssey pong machines and early models of the Odyssey 2 as well. Let me know what you'd want for either of these. I also have stuff to trade if you're interested (loose NES/2600 carts, lots of Playstation 1/2 stuff).
  22. I just picked up a loose 3D Imager and six loose carts on eBay: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 250872252136 Good deal or not for a loose, untested 3D Imager? It seems to have the color wheel inside. I figure if it doesn't work, I'll stick it on a mannequin head, set it next to the Vectrex, and stare at it.
  23. Here are scans of the gray box Canyon Bomber made in Hong Kong in 1988. Apologies for the slightly blurry part on the back; that part of the box was dented, and I did what I could to smooth it out.
  24. Best. Christmas. Ever. I remember playing Cosmic Avenger and Donkey Kong for days on end. Best game was Miner 2049er.
  25. Does anyone sell the digital to analog adapter, or do you have to make your own? I'd love to use the Starplex to play Minestorm.
