  1. I would hope that the book goes beyond the conman, fraudster story. That's the hill that it will have to climb for me. There's a point where the outrage tank runs dry, especially after a period of years. Not defending MK or what he did, but when's a good time to move on? What's more interesting to me than the con is the reason why the community still needs this story to endure.
  2. I like the Youtube channel linked below. It focuses on emulation and how to set up emulators on a variety of devices. This video shows how to load emulators on the Amazon Fire Stick 4K.
  3. This made me lol. It would be so refreshing if people up in arms about this demanded that it was their right to see naked cartoon characters if they want to. Instead, it's "this is censorship," which makes the motives seem more ... heroic? Their argument would be more honest even if they started by saying this: "Look, if we don't get to see naked cartoon characters, what content will be censored next?" Instead, we just get the last half of the sentence.
  4. There are at least a couple that are around $50 and at least one more that is less than $60. I have one, and it works great. Not cheap but not getting any cheaper.
  5. I haven't had to replace a lamp yet, but new lamps for these older projectors are around $30 on eBay shipped from China. Quality may be worse than OEM though. It may be better to use these as "disposables," although they would get snapped up pretty quick if donated to a thrift even with a burned-out bulb.
  6. I'm fast becoming that guy who always brings up projectors, but a 10 year-old name-brand 720p projector with S-video, component, VGA, and DVI inputs is usually about $50 used. And the size of an Xbox 360 Slim.
  7. I don't play enough to have an authoritative opinion, but I always thought the Zircon Video Command was underrated, especially if you like a short throw stick.
  8. I started collecting retro in 2010. My goal was to get a CIB example of every console before the NES (not counting Pong machines). I pretty much got there, but then got tired of staring at this APF M-1000 that never got taken out of the box. I never owned one as a kid and had no nostalgia for it. Once I sold it, I felt free to get rid of a lot of my collection. I don't regret those early days of collecting because it was new and exciting, but I don't need to be in that same place today with even more stuff. In short, I did it, and knowing that it enough because having the space is more important.
  9. Wow, I didn't realize that this is the same Champ Games from the DOS shareware days. Those were legendary ports too!
  10. I have a couple of old Xbox 360s that I got from Shopgoodwill. Because of this thread, I went through the games of one of the units, which still "logs in" with the owner's username when turned on. There's a delisted game demo on the HDD: Poker Night 2. The game features characters from other videogame properties. There was no reason for it to renew the licenses for these characters because the game company was about to go belly up, so the game was delisted. To me, that's no reason to keep this console around, but it would be interesting to get a list of the most desirable delisted games.
  11. This is really interesting. I didn't know about Afterburner Climax, so in researching it I came across this site: https://delistedgames.com
  12. I wonder whether once the PS3, 360, and Wii U stop updating games whether we'll see consoles sold at a premium because they are loaded with fully-patched versions of popular, exclusive games.
  13. I have about five Wiis that I just accumulated over the past few years. As cheap as they are, I had no qualms about softmodding. I have a Wii for Wiiware/VC games on SD and one for Wii games on a USB. Haven't had the time to investigate softmod for GC yet.
  14. I recently picked up an 1101 and am liking it more than I thought I would. No native Vita games yet, but I bought Legend of Dragoon and FF IX from the store. They look pretty good on the small screen. I was having some trouble establishing a good PS4 remote play connection, but I may have figured it out. I really wish there were more PS3 games that worked with remote play.
  15. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably pay double for the Switch version then. It's convenient to grind when you're not parked in front of the TV.
  16. Sold a pair of Xbox 360 consoles to Jack, and I agree wholeheartedly with the consensus that he is one of the best people to deal with on AA. Awesome communication and flexibility. Paid promptly. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from or sell to Jack again!
  17. Is there any difference between the PS4 and Switch versions? I also have a Vita and can do remote play with the PS4, but the experience is not great.
  18. Am I missing something? That lot is worth about $30-$35.
  19. Replied! After selling to Blazing Lazers and one on eBay, I will have to pause this thread because I'm not sure I have a full set (console, HDD, PSU) anymore.
  20. I've got several Xbox 360 consoles and accessories for sale. I have multiples. All have been tested and work. Bare Xbox 360 Slim (matte or glossy), no hard drive or power supply. $25 OEM 250GB hard drive, $15 (with purchase of console only) OEM power supply, $10 (with purchase of console only) OEM wireless controller (white or black), $5 (with purchase of console only) Kinect, $10 Xbox 360 original white with 60GB HDD (works). $20 Nyko Intercooler for original Xbox 360 (new in open box, sold only with above). $10 I also have many games but don't want to list them here. LMK if you're looking for anything in particular. Most common games will be $2-$3. Everything is good shape and tested, although there will be light scratches and scuffs on the consoles. The pads on the controller analog sticks may be worn down. Not really interested in selling the accessories only. Will send photos upon request. Buyer pays for Priority Mail shipping to CONUS only from 54701 zip. Xbox 360 Slim weighs 6 pounds without a HDD. PayPal goods and services (not friends and family). Thanks!
  21. MOAR analogies! Just kidding. No more analogies. Please.
  22. This reminds me of how magic users were supposed to acquire spells in the old AD&D. You couldn't just pick the one you wanted out of the Player's Handbook but were supposed to find a scroll or a spellbook with the spell, and only then could you learn it. This ROM was like a 9th level spell, lol.
  23. I was surprised to see the Lunar games as well as the Dreamcast consoles. I've seen a couple of PS3 titles NIB at this store called Five Below (nothing more than $5).
  24. Good luck with your search. I agree that late-80s games may run too fast on a 486, although killing caches may help you to get close to 286 performance. I built a machine for the following era, and between switching the FSB speed with a button and using SETMUL to change the multiplier/kill cache, I can run from 486-33 speed all the way to 550MHz without opening the case. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/268122-is-a-vintage-pc-worth-it-these-days/?p=3819663
