And that would be in immaculate shape and with it's original box, too. I paid 3 dollars for mine!

If they go by ebay prices, I give them six months till they're out of business. Good riddance to bad rubbish. As far as game stuff, I try to support GameXChange whenever I can (I used to work there, and am still pretty good friends with the owner of the whole franchise). If they don't have it, I go to Vintage Stock, and GameStop as a very last resort (for newer stuff, anyway). Hell, I can get a crapload of NES games from GXC for 2 to 3 bucks each.

http://www.amazon.com/BUZZ-Hollywood-Quiz-...2/dp/B0012M2XU0 Really? I've seen these things out for a long time now, all over any place that sells games like Best Buy or whatnot. It comes with these funky "buzzer" controllers that have a big light up button. The odd thing is that all four controllers are wired into a hub looking thing, and that all plugs into the USB on the PS2, and you can actually have 2 of them hooked up for an 8 person game. Wow. Now if I can find that Scene It game for the 360 on the cheap...
-
So, went to Sears today. Not a place you'd normally think to look for deals on gaming stuff. Found a copy of the Buzz! game for PS2 (the Hollywood edition), and since those are some unique controllers (they plug into the USB slot, which I found to be kind of odd), and the price was good at 14.95, I went for it. Got to the register...it wasn't 14.95. It was 1.97! Holy crap! If they'd had another one, I'd have grabbed that one, too. So, might want to look out at Sears a little more often.

100% agreed. The two player game is absolutely unplayable. With the Lego Star Wars and Batman games being so good, how did this one happen?
-
Well, it was turns, but both sides took theirs simultaneously, from what I remember (it's been years for me, too). Sometimes, you'd end up on a square with nothing near you because the enemy you were trying to attack moved. The trick was to corner the enemies with your units so they had limited movement.
-
Nice! Great to see this one getting a rebirth. One thing I never liked about the series was the fact that the enemies moved at the same time as you. Made it more a matter of chance whether or not you even got to attack in a given round.
-
Do the trick where you get a huge number of lives, and the numbers eventually all change to weird symbols. Get too many lives and it crashes the game.

Intentionally crippled games...
2600Lives replied to Herbarius's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I can't see it for the Sega CD, though, as it came out a full 3 years before the Playstation did, and the Dracula game in particular came out in 1993, whereas the PS wasn't released in the US until 1995. Some versions of particular games ARE total ass, though. Donkey Kong for the Inty is a serious case in point. The Inty was capable of making FAR better games than that! It was one of the ugliest things I've ever seen, even worse than the 2600 version. -
Today was a Street Fighter 4 day, mostly. Played a bit of Wild Arms 4, too, as I'm wanting to start in on that one.

Look what I just found in the garbage!

Let us know if you can get the corrosion off of the cart and get it working again. -
Unlockable content in games good or bad?
2600Lives replied to kroogur's topic in Modern Console Discussion
You, sir, have just became my new favorite person on AA. Though that is perhaps a tad too soft. Make them sit on broken razor blades while they play, maybe? On the subject of micro-purchases such as paying tons for new levels, etc. Every time a company chooses to do this, the pirates get a little more prolific. Stuff like that is why pirates live, to circumvent it. -
Unlockable content in games good or bad?
2600Lives replied to kroogur's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I LOATHE most unlockable content. I don't care about stuff like art galleries and the like, toss that in for me to unlock as I play through the game, and that's cool, but when it's actual game content, hell NO. Stuff like that was why Pro Action Replay was invented. I love giving a huge middle finger to the designers by popping in my PAR and just unlocking everything right from the get-go. -
I'm trying VERY hard to wean myself off of faqs and cheats, and play the games the way I used to back in the day, with no help whatsoever.
-
I have three that I use over various games. All have to do with my love of cowboys and zombies... 1. Dead Gunmen 2. Six Gun Fury 3. Cowboy Zombies
-
The thing that got me, though, is that nowhere in the game does it say that the monster hunts are going to be that tough. I've legitimately beaten both the Weapons in FF7, and done most of the really hard optional bosses in 8 and 9, but this was just ridiculous. Meh, doesn't matter anyway. Lol. Disc gone...mental status...restored.

I also posted a link to a nifty little program that will allow you to do all SORTS of things with the VMU and the system itself. Just burn to a cd and you're good to go. There are even homebrewed DC games out there for sale! I personally own Feet of Fury, and while I normally don't like any sort of dancing games, this one is just so odd as to be fun. There's also a neat little puzzle game called Cool Herders. My personal faves for the system Alone In The Dark - The New Nightmare - This one got a lot of bad press, but I LOVE it. Very atmospheric, and scary as all hell in certain places. Illbleed - Ever think you'd see an old man who died and went to hell, only to have his ghost come back and invite the gigantic worm creature he loved to go to hell with him? Yeah. It's ODD as all getout, but it's very, very unique and fun. Plus you can make your main character get nekkid. Soul Calibur - Nothing needs to be said. Awesome incarnate. Multiple 2D fighters - There's a bunch of them, and there really are no duds, so pick one you like and get it. Carrier - Cool little survival horror title. Not without it's flaws, but fun. Sort of the prototype for Cold Fear. Omikron - Very strange game, but worth getting into. Sort of like a one player MMO. It's not something I can really explain, you just have to try it. Record of Lodoss War - Diablo clone, and a damn good one. PSO - Natch. The GC version is better overall, but this is where they got started. Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 - The last of the great Sonic games. Play them and weep for his future, as every Sonic game that came after sucked.

Well, I've had this game for a while, and decided a few nights ago to start in on it. Everything started off ok, but a few things irked me right off the bat. First, I HATE the main character. He's a metrosexual little jackass, and I can't stand his voice. Even Migelo, voiced by the awesome John DiMaggio, his vocal patterns and the fact that he overstates EVERYTHING just graaaated on me. Now, I wanna say that I'm a HUGE FF fan, and love Square games in general, with FF7 being my all time favorite game. But, this one...this one... The combat is HORRID beyond belief. They tried to make it like an MMO, you see enemies on the screen, and some are aggressive, some are not. You attack each one like you would in an MMO, with a timer counting down to when you can act again, but other monsters can (and WILL), join the fray. Worse, they fucking RESPAWN, so if you think you've cleared an area of enemies, think again. Now, I gave it a chance. I leveled up properly, spent my License Points (something I totally loathe. You have to get...licenses...to...use...your...equipemnt. It's retarded!) wisely, upgraded my equipment, all that good stuff, but a SINGLE monster whips me like a BDSM freak. It takes WAAAAAAAAAAY too long to level, as in holy SHIT, how many monsters did I have to kill to get my next level? So, I took on this Mark, see? It's a special monster you hunt down for a reward. It's called the Flowering Cactoid. It looks like a little Cactaur with a pink flower growing outta it's head. I'm several levels above it, from what my Libra ability tells me, so I engage it, thinking "no sweat"! Oh hell no. This little bastard not only made me completely stop playing the game, but I snapped the disc in two (I paid 3.99 for it at GameStop, and now I know just WHY it was so cheap. Anyway, no big loss, believe me.). I've NEVER done that to a game! Never! Why was it so frustrating? Well, for one, it dodges 99 percent of all your attacks, does counter damage every time you DO hit it, is immune to all magic, it seemed, hits you multiple times INCREDIBLY fast, does huge damage when it hits, and, here's the most wonderful part, RUNS AWAY. And it doesn't just run away, oh no, it leads you into all the other monsters in the zone. I started the battle with over 50 potions, and not only did I use every single one of them, I never once beat this little bastard. He kept running from me, making me fight all the other monsters in the area, and, oh man, this is getting good, HEALS itself. I never got it past half of it's life! It managed to kill me and completely bugger over 3 hours of gameplay and leveling up (Yeah, I should have saved, but EVERY other monster in the area I was fighting was easy to kill, so I didn't think I had to.) Fuck you, SquareSoft! Did you collaborate with Capcom for this game!? Man, the difficulty levels in games is really making me mad as hell lately. I believe that games should be accessible to everyone, but here lately, it's like which little loser design team has the biggest set of balls as they try to one-up each other in the difficulty department. I never liked FFX, but at least it was playable. This is just a huge joke, and I pity those that paid fifty bones for it when it first came out. Here's hoping that FFXIII will be much, MUCH different. At least I can use the case the game came in for something.

The DC kicks ASS man. Get one! The VMU was a revolutionary idea in memory storage, and it's a shame it didn't catch on. The system is a fighting game lover's DREAM. Soul Calibur, DOA2, MvC 1 and 2, the list literally goes on and on. It also had some really quirky/cool games like Illbleed and Samba De Amigo. Totally worth the investment, plus most games can be burned to a normal CD-R and played (though this will shorten the life of your laser). One of the best systems ever made, but it was really crippled by Sega's insistance of releasing umpteen sports games, and hardly ANY good RPGs.

I'm interested in finding out about this, too. 32X and Master System cases would also be cool...
-
My personal recommendations. Snatcher - Want to see some pre Metal Gear Solid Kojima stuff? This is it. EXCELLENT game, but HARD to find. Rise of the Dragon - A well put together game. Moves slow at times, but is still very engaging. Sonic CD - Nothing needs to be said. Best Sonic game ever made. Earthworm Jim Special Edition - The music in this is beyond cool, and it's EWJ. What's not to like? Ecco CD - Another beautiful game, with some of the best music ever composed. Final Fight CD - The best home conversion of it's day. Night Trap - Yeah, it does kind of suck, but the sheer schlock value is through the roof, and you get to play the game that gave Jack Thompson hissy fits! Eternal Champions - Challenge From The Darkside - An enhanced version of the very underrated Genesis fighter. Flashback and Out of This World 1 and 2 - All three games are similar, but are VERY good. The type of game you will die a lot in, but you'll get a little further each time you play. Lunar 1 and 2 - Excellent RPGs, though the Playstation versions are superior. Shining Force CD - Tactical RPGing at it's finest. Unfortunately, the SCD was absolutely chock full of turds, and finding the good games in all the rubbish can be difficult. Those are my personal favorites for the system, though, and should give you lots of great gaming.

Be careful doing this. It can throw the drive out of alignment, and it's a pain in the ASS to re-align them. Of course, if the drive is already mis-aligned, then go right ahead!
-
The Genny 1 from what I remember always did have problems with the 32X/CD combo. I'd get a model 2 and see if that fixes things. You should be able to get them dirt cheap.
-
I paid 99 cents for mine back in the day... I have a dead one, too. Got it at a thrift for, I believe, 50 cents? Dunno. It will NOT work under any circumstances. I've cleaned that thing to hell and back, still, no dice. Still, it came with the connector cords, which was a GREAT deal.

Oh, man, had THE funniest thing EVER happen today. Playing a ranked match, guy uses Akuma (fuckin' NATCH), he's got his headphones on. Doesn't talk much, but I hear him occasionally. I finished BOTH rounds by SPDing him out of his super/ultra combos! He'd initiate it just as I was starting to land from a jump, then I'd do the command and pull him out of it! Omg, I have NEVER heard anyone scream FUCK that loud in my life! Totally hilarious! I rarely had a chance to do any other attacks except for the SPD during the entire match, though, so it was kind of a weird matchup.
