  1. I've been using my Cube regularly for over 3 years with nothing at all like that happening. In fact, it's been a damn solid little workhorse, considering all the hours I've put on it. Nintendo surely does know how to build a tough system. If I were you, Steve, I'd maybe check around the game shops and see if they have a broken cube they'll sell you cheap and see if you can maybe replace the port.
  2. Ok, saw it today. You know, it wasn't half bad. It was like watching a bad comedy. Was it very good? Not really. Did I laugh? Of course! And, besides Adam Goldberg, Frankie Muniz has a major role in the movie as a twtichy, conspiracy theorist geek. They make some nifty geek/pop culture references, like the main character having a huge Steamboy standee in his apartment, and mentioning the game Fatal Frame. I was really surprised by the overall story, which is based on a true life figure named Elizabeth Bathory (if you don't know her gruesome story, just Google her name). There were also a couple of neat scenes that showed the correlations between the game and the real world that I liked. All in all, I give it a solid C. At the very least, it was better than all of Uwe Boll's movies put together. And better than Rollerball. On another note, I saw Ice Age 2 today, too. I was kinda disappointed. It just didn't have the fun sense of humor the first one did. It was always so...well, serious. Not what I was expecting at all. There was a preview of a new movie coming out called American Haunting that looks interesting. Says it's based off of a true story, too, and if it's what I'm thinking it is, it will center on a possessed doll that originated in the early 1800's.
  3. I really wanna see Slither, along with Snakes On A Plane, if the darn thing ever gets released. My days off this week shifted, so I'm not gonna see Stay Alive till Tuesday. I'll report back on it's level of suckage then.
  4. It's been a long time since I've played the original, but I do seem to recall that if you froze a Metroid, then used the Screw Attack to jump through one, it'd be like hitting it with the 5 missiles it normally takes to kill one and destroy it instantly. You can't do this with an unfrozen one, but if you freeze it, then SA through it, it'll die.
  5. Actually, Nemesis pretty much just walked away from that spike impalement. It took a flaming helicopter falling on top of him to take him down. Oh, yeah, and Oded Fehr rules. Maybe we'll get to see the Hunters in the next one??
  6. Dear gawd, that movie scared the living HELL out of me when I was a kid. Of course, I sneaked into the living room while staying at an uncle's house late one night and flipped onto HBO. There it was, Saturday the 14th. I was like...6? 7? Anyway, I slept with the covers over my head for the next three months, and I absolutely refused to step foot into a closet, since I was afraid that the coats were gonna eat me.
  7. Today, while I was at Best Buy with a bud, I stumbled across a couple of serious deals. Grabbed both Project Snowblind (frickin' AWESOME game, btw), and Nanobreaker, both for the PS2, for...get this, $1.99 each! They are in their discount bins, and I didn't have much time to look over ALL the bins, so there might be others. Would be worth a look, at least. Yeah, Nanobreaker sucks, but get this, I took it over to a used game shop and got 12 bucks credit for it! It was like Best Buy just handed me a 10 spot plus a crappy game. BTW, they had a demo of Guitar Heroes playing on a nice plasma tv. I NEVER in my wildest dreams thought that I could enjoy one of these types of games (I despise DDR and it's ilk with a passion), but WOW, was it ever fun. I'm seriously considering getting it now, actually. It's hard (expert mode is nigh impossible from what I can tell), and your hands will ache after a couple of hours, but it was still a blast.
  8. Hey, now, Resident Evil 2 was fun. The scene where she used the rapelling rope to run down the side of the building was very nice, I thought, and who could ask for more than a reporter being chomped to death by zombie children? Plus, Mike Epps was a hoot. "GTA M'Fer!" I'm going Thursday to see it. I dunno, it looks like your average PG-13-geared-towards-20-something-males type of horror flick. There will probably be very little gore and clumsy attempts at suspense with unseen attackers and shadowy hallways. However bad it is, it STILL can't be as bad as Jeepers Creepers.
  9. There was a Fallout Tactics, I believe, but it wasn't supposed to be a very good game. Beyond that, there are no others I know of, though there were plans for a Fallout Online MMOG type of thing a while back, but who knows in todays' gaming market if it's still even in the works anymore.
  10. Man, I was wondering whether or not there was going to be a show this year. Glad to know that there's already plans in the works. I've been practicing like mad to take the Neo-Geo tournament this year, too. Go Jesse!
  11. For real, Figgler. There's even a scene where you go visit the woman in the white gown sitting under the giant tree where the Skittles rain down on her. She gives you a Skittle, which doubles as like magic or some crap in this game. I give every single game a chance, and played this one up till the point where you acquire a little imp/gremlin sidekick who's first words to you are "Yo, babe, whatchoo doin' up in my crib, yo?" Power...off.
  12. Ahh, my fave system, the Cube. Second Sight - Can't believe no one mentioned this one. It's an AWESOME 3rd person game, with all kinds of different elements thrown in. Stealth, run and gun, you name it. I picked it up for five bucks and after playing it, felt I should go back and give the store some more money. It's THAT good. Both Metroid Prime games are must-haves. Period. ALL the Resident Evil games fall into that same must-have category. Bloody Roar Primal Fury - It's no Soul Calibur 2, but it IS a very fun and fast paced fighter. X-Men Legends 1 and 2 - Two very addictive Diabloesque RPG games. You'll play for HOURS just trying to max out the many characters, and you won't get bored, either. Gun - I'm still playing this one, and it's a lot of fun. Everyone says it's GTA in the old West, but it's not. It's got it's own style and sensibility. Darkened Syke - It's a game...about...Skittles. Seriously. A third person, RPG styled adventure...about...freakin'...SKITTLES! I traded this one in and got exactly one dollar in credit, and was happy to get even that. Avoid at ALL costs. This year we'll also get Zelda: Twilight Princess which will totally blow all the other Zelda games out of the water!
  13. I picked up that PS2 bundle, too. Pretty nice, considering that two of the games don't suck at all. Ford Racing 3 is easily the best of the bunch. It's actually quite entertaining, and doesn't have the brutal learning curve of, say, Gran Turismo 3. The graphics are pretty, and the physics are ok as well. My favorite is running around tracks in the old Model-T! Powerdrome is decent, just a WipeOut clone, but the sense of speed is good and it handles well. The stinker is Motocross Maniacs 3 (there was a 1 and 2?). It's not the worst game you'll ever play, but that ain't saying much. It's just no fun, especially considering all the stuff you can do with FR3, which has a TON of unlockables and modes. I usually hate racing games, but hey, for 10 bucks for three games, at least I've got a little trade fodder if I need it.
  14. My scores today: Toys R Us Intellivision Lives! PS2 -$4.99 KOF Maximum Impact PS2 - $9.98 Onimusha 3: Demon Siege PS2 - $9.99 My TRU had a table set up with most of the games on it, but make SURE you check the racks, too, as that's where I found KOF sitting. There are some games cheaper than $9.99 sitting around, too, like that Intellivision Lives!, so look around for 'em. No Killer 7 for ten bucks, though, and that's one I REALLY wanna get. Game X Change Rygar PS2 - $8.00 Illbleed Dreamcast - $8.00 I used to manage that particular GXC long ago, and the current manager is a friend of mine, so I get the employee discount, hehe. Anyway, Illbleed was a great find, and I've always wanted to go through the Rygar game. All in all, a pretty good day of collecting!
  15. I recentlty acquired several US release Neo Geo CD games (for, like, LITERALLY a song). Problem is, I don't actually own a Neo Geo CD system. Tooling around Ebay has turned up quite a few being sold, but they are mostly the Japanese system. My question is this. Will the Japanese system play the US games? This is one of the very few systems I need, and if it will play the US games, I'ma jump on the next BIN auction I come across!
  16. A lot of those pics are prolly of me, as I stood there talking to Brian several times throughout the day, hehe. Those were some CRAZY imports he had playing, I tell ya whut.
  17. Well, the third annual OVGE is over, and boy oh boy, was it lots of fun. I'd like to thank Jesse for setting this all up yet again, and pulling off an even better show than the previous two! It was cool for me this year, as I opted out of getting an exhibitors table so I could actually attend as a spectator, and I think it was a good idea, as I got to participate in all the tournaments I wanted to. Speaking of tourneys, HUGE grats to Wes for kicking the ever loving crap out of everybody in the Neo-Geo Garou: MOW tourney. I actually thought I might stand a decent chance there, but I got Wes first round, and he handed me my arse on a silver platter with all the garnishes. The exhibits were great this year, too. Flack's Star Wars Shrine setup was great (and even better, he had the Star Wars Arcade game playing on a Darth Vader 2600 system...but no one seemed to get the joke). Brian Green's setup was hilarious, as he had some extremely odd Japanese import games playing (And I still canNOT believe he had Toilet Kids playing on his PC Engine...EWWW!). My vote for item of show goes to Scott Huggins for his absolutely GORGEOUS mini-MAME tabletop arcade setup. I heard he got offered a humongous amount for it, but turned it down, and I can't blame him because that was one of the most beautifully designes machines I've ever seen. Thanks to Max and Dustin for letting this Neo-Geo fanboy get some time on their machines, too. Atari Age's tables looked incredible, as always, and they had some nifty homebrews up for sale (and I purposely came with NO money just so I wouldn't be tempted, hehe). Earl Green's setup was great again this year. Earl, seriously man, you need to let go of some of those kick-butt Japanese figurines and stuff man...especially your awesome Tron swag, hehe. Also thanks to Brad P for letting me see one of the absolute worst games ever creates...Air Cars for the Jaguar. Oddly enough, he had it on right next to one of THE greatest games ever, Tempest 2000, WITH the rotary controller. All in all, an A+ show, and I can't wait to see the total numbers this year, as it was pretty much packed all day long. Can't wait for next year! Oh, can't forget Mr and Mrs. MegaManFan. I wore my Mega Man shirt JUST for you two! Hehe. And sorry for your loss, Tim. Maybe next year you'll get to stay a little longer, eh?
  18. I've been working my way through the KOF series games on NeoRage, and suddenly, today, it just...stopped working right. It wouldn't recognize half the roms anymore. Anybody else have this problem, or know what might have happened? Thanks in advance.
  19. I've gone through MGS:Twin Snakes. I enjoyed it, as I enjoyed the original, but, some thing have seriously changed. The game is basically an amalgam of MGS 2 for the PS2, and the original MGS. Updated graphics, and Snake's moves from MGS 2 are here. The other major thing that changed is the cut scenes. There's LOTS of slow motion stuff this time around, and the script has been ever so slightly changed. Some think the cutscenes are cheesy, but I just look at it as a game made in the post-Matrix era. I loved the game, though. Still as fun as ever!

  21. The thing that seriously pisses me off is when places like GameStop give you, like, say, $20 in trade in (not cash, of course, you get like $10 or $15 if you're LUCKY) on a BRAND NEW game, like Paper Mario:Thousand Year Door. Now, this game costs $49.95 new, right? What do THEY sell it for? $44.95. Five stinking dollars off NEW PRICE (and I'd rather spend the 5 bucks to make sure I'm getting something that's not scratched beyond recognition), and they make MORE than twice what they bought it for. That's crap. Back in the day, I used to work at Game X Change, and we never did garbage like that. If we game five bucks for something, we sold it for ten. If we gave ten, we sold for twenty. Even better sometimes is going through the used stuff and seeing a game for $19.95 used, and RIGHT NEXT TO IT is the exact same game, NEW...for $19.95. Usually the employees just shrug and dismiss it. Bah, I don't trade anymore anyway. If I want something, I'll just save till I can get it.
  22. The BA Vintage is easy to get to, Flack. When you're leaving the 71st and Memorial Vintage, you head east down 71st street (like you're heading down to Best Buy), and just keep going straight down that road till you come to a gigantic Wal-Mart super-center on your right side. It's nestled in that shopping center next to a puke-a-riffic Simple Simon's pizza (don't EVER, EVER eat there, the woman who took my order was a hardcore tweaker, and it took them almost 30 mintues to get out a simple pepperoni pizza!), a Japanese cuisine restaurant, and a Dollar Tree. I like the BA Vintage 'cause of their good selection of older RPG books, meself. And Gardner's is a cool place, too. I go there about once a month. Great place for back issue comics and used RPG books. You may also check out Game X Change next time you're in town, they have some classic games and stuff usually in their bargain bin, and since I used to work there, I vouch for the guys there.
  23. I WAS gonna go to a K-B tomorrow after work and get one....till Flack reminded me that I live in Oklahoma too.
  24. I've always loved both games actually. SF II was lots of fun for extended tournament play amongst friends, and MK was good for shocking those who are easily offended, hehe. SF II definately has it over MK on the gameplay, but MK 2 was simply an AMAZING game. Just mastering Shang Tsung alone could literally take hundreds of hours. I'll always love both franchises, though, and still play both of 'em from time to time to this day.
