Anyone ever frequent Dollar stores? Several around here have some computer games for a buck a piece. I got a disc with like 20 old RPG's on it for a buck, and just today, picked up two discs, both space shooters. Cool stuff man. And you can even get some DVD's, too. Picked up 3 of the Max Fleischer Superman cartoon DVD's for a buck each about 3 months ago. Damn cool stuff.

Actraiser is one of the defining moments of the 16-bit era. One of THE most fun, involving games I have ever played, and it quite possibly has some of the best music heard in a cart based game (thanks to Yuzo Koshiro, the GOD of gaming music). It's one of those games I can fire up either in an emulator or cartridge form and just have fun with. Even after beating it, I just had to go back through it and see if I missed anything, or try to get through a stage quicker, or something!

I kinda prefer game pads over Joysticks
2600Lives replied to Rockin' Kat's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I have and always will prefer gamepads to joysticks. I hate the fact that extended play makes my right hand form into a stiff, claw like shape when using a joystick. My favorite joypad of ALL time, though, is the wonderful ASCII pad for the SNES. One of the greatest video game controllers ever made. -
I still couldn't believe the guy who was walking around with, like, EVERY single rare Atari 2600 game, boxed, and in fantastic condition. Unbelievable! Even the porn games had the little keys!

Classic Light Gun Games.... All Consoles
2600Lives replied to Blackjack's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My suggestion is to get yourself a Playstation 1 and a decent lightgun, then get all the Point Blank games. You'll never want for lightgun entertainment again. -
Sweetness, mucho thanks.

Can anyone toss me a site that has some good, accurate game lists for the classic systems? (pre X-Box generation). Japanese games would be nice, too. I've had a hard time finding any really good lists, even with google, so any help would be appreciated!

Mock me you do? My green, wrinkly ass you can kiss! Hey, I watched the VH1 thing on Star Wars tonight, oook? It sorta...rubbed off on me guess I.

You gotta love it when a place called GOODWILL sells a freakin' Atari game for almost a hundred bucks that 5 years ago they would have sold for a quarter. I hate thrift stores now. Nothing but jokes, they are.

Classic home console games over arcade versions
2600Lives replied to chuckwalla's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Rygar for the NES was far better than the arcade in my opinion. Much more of an RPG feel to it, rather than another Rastan type of game. Plus, the music was just fantastic. I also liked the RPG feel of the NES Strider, but I also LOVE the arcade version of that game, so in that case, both are great games. -
The Atari 800 version is pretty darn good as well, but I'll give my vote to the Colecovision as THE definitave version of Q-Bert on a home console. The NES version is fun, but the ending and stuff just blows my mind. That's like porting Yar's Revenge over and giving it an ending! "Congratulations, you won!" BAH!

I did notice something odd this year that didn't happen last year, though. Maybe 10 or so times during the day, someone would walk up and pick up a game and hand it to me, expecting to buy it. I had to tell them that I was just an exhibit table, and not a vendor (though I did sell a few things when I got a good offer, but not my really prized stuff). One guy even asked me if my "other stores" had something he was looking for. That was kinda odd. Someone even wanted to buy my Samus bobblehead! (Sell my Samus bobblehead?!?! Horrors!) I really should have had that foresight to put up an "exhibition only" sign, but hell, getting everything ready AND getting some sleep was really a chore. Next year...next year. Anyway, I'm gonna go back to getting my butt handed to me on Medal of Honor Frontline...

And for the love of GOD disregard the dorky pose I stuck when MMF took a picture of my shirt. Lol. Just picture me in Captain Marvel's red and yellow outfit there....

Well, OKGE 2004 is over and I must say, it was a smashing success! Once again, Jesse worked his ASS off to put together a fantastic show that I for one had much fun attending. Didn't buy much myself this year, only a copy of Medal of Honor Frontline for the Cube and a PRISTINE copy of Out of This World for the 3DO. Saw a lot of cool stuff, including someone who had almost all the Atari porn games, all in boxes, all with the leather cases and the little padlocks! Totally sweet! He also had a copy of Quadrun, Mr. Do's Castle, Q-Bert's Qubes, Chase the Chuckwagon, I mean like ALL the hardest to find Atari games, and all with boxes. Even though our foosball guy didn't show, that didn't slow things one bit. The free arcade was totally boss (and omg, I forgot how FUN Gorf was!). All in all, I give it two thumbs way up, and I'm already looking forward to next year's show!

Well, I'm about 5 minutes away from catching 6 hours of sleep, then heading back to finish my setup. My table is almost done, except for the tv, the Vectrex, and some final dusting and re-arranging. See everybody, everybody tomorrow!

When IS that darn Homestar Runner game gonna be finished anyway? Maybe by NEXT year's OKGE I can actually get a finished copy of it, eh? Hehe.

American Pie = stupiest pile of crap to ever crud up the movie screen. I love ANY old Sierra games like that. LSL and Space Quest rank as the top two, of course. I love the old Larry games. And I agree that the new one will probably suck. I want my blue polyester wearin', bad pick up line flingin', just shy of a combover 40 something Larry dammit! Not some young guy with an actual CHANCE of getting lucky!

Well, after the show I plan on doing one of two things. 1. If I'm too tired to do anything else, I'm gonna go home and sleep for 15 hours. 2. If I'm not too tired, I'm gonna go see Sky Captain. Then sleep for 15 hours. So, sorry, but no dinner or after show gaming for me. Hehe.

I never knew that they made Bonk for the GC, but if anybody wants to play the original one, be sure to see the TG16 that I'll have set up for play! Too bad I can't find where I packed away that friggin' TG16 multitap...

Five years later... how's the Dreamcast holdin' up?
2600Lives replied to Jess Ragan's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I still say that PSO has some of THE best graphics I've ever seen a console game produce, period, especially the version 2 graphics. The outdoor areas are just so LUSH, and beautiful. I'd say the system holds up just fine, considering that if it were still alive, it'd still be more innovative than ANY system, other than the X-Box maybe. The VMU was just a total stroke of genius. -
What are your favorite (or most expensive) PS1 games?
2600Lives replied to Duke 4ever's topic in Classic Console Discussion
God, I have SO many PS games. Well, first off, the rarities. Pretty much everything on Duke 4ever's list I have except Team Buddies. I also have Discworld 2. I have both of the Lunar games in mint condition with all the stuff they came with, too. I dunno about the rarity of most PSX games, though. Favorites? All the Resident Evil games Metal Gear Solid Valkyrie Profile Final Fantasy 7 and 9 Twisted Metal 2 Vagrant Story (one of THE best PSX games PERIOD) All 3 Point Blank games. I just love these games. I dunno why really.
