  1. There won't be another game crash unless someone invents some new technology that totally reinvents the way games are played (say a TRUE interactive virtual environment or something similar), and that's a LONG way off, if even in our lifetimes. Games are too integrated into our culture now for the market to crash again. It'd be like the car market crashing. Not gonna happen. I don't remember there being a 100 million budget summer release movie being made about Yar's Revenge, but now there are and have been several VERY successful video game tie in ventures, such as movies. And look, one of the MAJOR players in the industry, Sega, all but died, and no real harm came of it.

  2. It's an older game, but I highly recommend the Record of Lodoss War for the Dreamcast. VERY excellent Diablo clone, and with a decent storyline to boot. Tons of enemies on screen at once, too. For true duneon crawls, though, I go way back and get stuff like Dungeon Magic and Swords and Serpents out. Hehe. Nothing like the pseudo 3-D graphics and unbelievable difficulty!

  3. A lot of people on these boards bash those little joystick games, but I for one think they're a great idea. They let a whole new generation of kids enjoy what TRUE gaming was all about, and without having to buy a whole new console to do so. Just plunk down a 20 and get some batteries and you're good to go. I don't own any (as I've got most of the games they have on those things for my consoles anyway), but I still think they're cool.

  4. At FYE (For Your Entertainment, used to be Camelot Music, mostly a mall store). I'm not sure if it's a nationwide chain or not, but I meandered in today and was perusing the GameCube section. I noticed a BUNCH of games on half price or more. The Return of the King was selling for 19.99, the cheapest I've ever seen it, and there were many more titles. I picked up Return of the King and XIII for 20 bucks each. Not too bad really.

Speaking of XIII, who's played this? It's a TOTALLY awesome game. I'm just a few levels into it and I'm already completely hooked on the twisting conspiracy storyline, and the comic-styled paneled cut scenes are very well done. Any opinions on this game?

  5. Actually, no, since David Von Erich is still alive (at least last time I checked he was), but because Kerry defeated Ric Flair for the title while I was IN the crowd as a very small kid, and could have had a career rivaling Flair's own had he not had that motorcycle accident. What do you consider legend material, then? Who are the legends? JYD? Roberts? Hogan? RVD? (laughs).

  6. Well, while I certainly agree that Kerry and David Von Erich are true legends, yeah, Ricky Morton isn't exactly legend material. I think the biggest problem with the original Legends games were the lackluster gameplay. It's VERY boring to play, unlike say, No Mercy or WM19. The create-a-wrestler feature (one thing I always go to first as I use it as an indication of whether the game will be decent or not) also is really lacking (again, unlike No Mercy and WM19). Anyway, I too would like an honest review of the Showdown game if anyone has had any decent playtime with it.

  7. Hey, don't be knocking Ninja Golf dammit! Any game that combines NINJAS and...GOLF, frickin' rules the universe! Hiiiiiyaaaa......fore!

And honestly, I was never a fan of the "handheld joystick". Mounted joysticks are just fine and dandy, but I personally thought that the introduction of the control pad was a godsend, as your hand didn't freeze into a claw shape from gripping a joystick for hours on end. You just got sore and blistered thumbs. Lol.

  8. That totally sucks if it's worse than the other Legends wrestling games. I've seriously wanted to get ahold of this, as I'm a wrestling fan from WAY back (I ONLY bought the first Legends game because you could play Kerry Von Erich). Oh, well, if it totally blows, at least we've got the new WWE game to look forward to coming out.

  9. I too find no humor in this. It's THESE guys who are the bank managers who deny the loans of people like US who post on these boards, folks. It's these "nerds" who own the hotels and retail stores and get rich off of OUR 9 to 5 money. I wasn't old enough to be in that crowd as a youngun, but I did own a pair of bell bottoms in the early 80's. Lol.

And that black Defender shirt it SWEET.

  10. Well, at least us Cubers are getting a FEW decent titles in the next few months. The Cube is the only next-gen system I own, since I mostly think that games coming out today are all flash and sound and NO substance. Metroid Prime changed all that the first time I played it, though. Now, we're getting Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 2, and Mortal Kombat: Deception. Two of those are console exclusives, too. I love my Cube, but I too wish more quality games were available for it. Oh, forgot about Paper Mario 2! How could I forget about that?! Anyway, I'll just hold my breath till the next Zelda game comes out and totally destroys all in it's path.

  11. Question, Crossbow, are you gonna have name tags and tents again this year? I kept mine...BUT, it's in a box somewhere and I'll be darned if I can remember where I put them.
