There is another major update for the game today, and the game is on offer with 25% off. There is a combination of bug fixes, graphical improvements, and new changes. Also, I noticed that fan activity while playing the game seems, on gut feeling, much reduced. :-)

That's not something I've ever seen as an option in a BIOS, so I don't think so. I think you just want a boot menu, and for that, it's possible with Refind as described in another thread.
-
I think a single thread with the historical background is useful. The correct password is confirmed here, in both cases - Atar!C3l3br8te$50Ye4r$ The first post of the new VIOS password was here - others deserve the credit! Then it was confirmed here, and even the next post is of a video for it.

Guntech 1.83 just released, as described in the image.

I'm NOWHERE NEAR level 82. Well done. 😅

The two threads about BIOS password are now merged, along with all the previous history. See above. 🙂

The developer, @West Coast Software already posted here, and we have useful contact. Although it's an old game, this is native code for Linux, using SDL2, apparently. I'd guess, the code-base they based it on, is the version they released for Switch/Xbox-One. The graphics, sound, although so retro, had to be remade of course, for that new version.

I think you meant to type AtariOS mode Chrome? The answer is yes, plugins can be installed. Chrome even syncs with your account if you set it up. (A Google account is not required for use.) In PC-Mode, the machine is running as a normal PC, with your normal O/S so the question is moot. A plugin could be the answer, as it seems they just don't support Linux yet; probably an oversight. Not supporting Linux isn't going to endear Amazon to me, either. 😕

- I agree re: "too good to be true". It's the old adage, but absolutely true with any tech these days, but as it was from ETA-Prime it seemed more legit. It's really shocking that these well-known review sites though (I mean, Tom's Hardware) would promote a product without some sign of legitimacy. 😕 I hope you didn't lose too much money on that tablet. I was also scammed on an Android tablet via a well-known Ali-Express seller, which had specs almost 100% fake (it was a 10.1" tablet at least), but in the end I got all but 30 EUR back. Returning something bought online to China is pointless. I don't think anybody here really wants to make a fake Atari VCS portable anyway. I was joking.

I've not tried an Atari XL emulator, but I remember others running one. (I never had an Atari XL.) On emulation, 3 things come to mind. - Both the classic and modern controllers can operate in Xbox compatible mode, when on USB, as well as Atari mode, so I'm sure that would already be supported. On Bluetooth, the device is recognised differently, as that is Atari mode only. - The classic controller spinner appears in software like a 15-bit X/Y axis of a normal controller, returning values 0-32767 (and wrapping), so if the emulator supports any kind of remapping, as they usually do, spinner should work too, in the same way as a mouse, perhaps. - I read that a couple of emulators had (or were pending) updates for both the controllers. 🙂

I saw your link, but they since did a group chat with "Snestastic/The Amico Kid" here. I have not watched it, but various people commented positively including Tommy Tallarico. The link is here - https://youtu.be/SouLblU8Ht0 -
Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

There was a better video of the controller (when it was resistive, even) last year and it shows it was responsive then on the local screen and joypad, ironically. -
All hail the HackAtariOS Atari VCS portable, for richer people (than me). 🙂 (Well, it's on IndieGogo right now - I thought in ETA Prime's video it's for sale.) https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/--191853/coming_soon ETA-Prime shows it running Cyberpunk 2077, and various emulators, in this.

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A

After all the excitement, controversy, we can all just listed to the original vision! I'm not sure how early it was. Day#1? I didn't hear about Amico until PRGE 2018. I wonder, @Tommy, have you kept a calendar of how many presentations, hours, and questions you have answered since May 2018? It could be a World Record! 🏆 Back then, we lived in an optimistic time, without Covid, and fewer grey hairs! -
Hi all, I have been using Google Stadia in Chrome on the new VCS, but I cannot try Amazon Luna. It seems that Amazon Luna (in beta release) is only available in the USA so far, so I can't try it. https://chromeunboxed.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-amazon-luna-cloud-gaming/ I wondered if anybody has signed up, or can sign-up, and try it, because it looks better than Stadia, in that it will have a bigger range of AAA titles available, for only $5.99 a month, compared to $9.99 and having to buy the big titles just like buying them individually like on PC and other consoles. It seems it should work fine, because it can run as a web-app in Google Chrome specifically now. The sign-up page is here, in case you are even eligible and want to try it. https://www.amazon.com/luna/landing-page Honestly, I'm not a fan of Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, in the way they're eating up markets and spitting them out. Most particularly I dislike Google's habit of killing services and apps so often, but hey, it's a reality. More and more services and infrastructure is going onto the cloud streaming.

I think you are upgrading your VCS from the standard 8GB to 16GB, yes? Cyberpunk at the time it was running on the VCS had minimum requirements of 8GB RAM, plus 2GB video-RAM, but this guy in the article still got it running natively with some tweaking to Windows on an unexpanded VCS... https://www.cbr.com/cyberpunk-2077-atari-vcs/ The video dates from 30th December, when both the VCS was brand-new, and Cyberpunk 2077 was new too. They problems they had also with launching other big games was (as they say) likely to do with needing RAM. However, things have changed since, the game was significantly optimised and lots of bug fixes of course. 😕 I don't know what the latest requirements for the game are, because I ran it on 1080p high-detail via Stadia, and it didn't much appeal so I just used the refund option on Stadia. (It was more an academic test for me.) If your machine has 16GB RAM, this will help a lot of course, and you can also modify the amount of RAM for the video display to 4GB (some people went very much higher) and you'll still have 12GB for the game etc.. I'm the advice about putting Windows into performance mode will still apply, the page file situation will be better since your system will have the minimum required amount of RAM. I guess it will be an interesting, with an expanded machine, adjusted GPU RAM reservation, and also the improved AMD graphics drivers! I hope this is what you needed. Good luck!

There is a new "app" in the VCS store - for PlutoTV.com, which offers worldwide streaming for a huge number of TV channels, all officially of course, and for free. It's a nice service... Unfortunately for me, although I tried it before, at the moment the service is not working in Europe. (That's not a problem on the VCS; it does not work from PC or STB right now, in The Netherlands at least. I reported that to PlutoTV, and wait for an answer.) Fine from the USA and elsewhere.

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
justclaws replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
I puzzled over this for quite a while, and now worked it out, perhaps. Unofficial announcement that the Amico and controllers are not dishwasher safe. Batteries not included. Just add water! -
The update for D/Generation is in the store btw. I just had a chat with the developer, and in a future update he'll look to support the Classic controller. The music and reworked intro makes quite a difference!

That looks fine. Various people had special recommendations, but I bought a pair of generic 2400 Mhz DDR4 SODIMMs, and no problems at all. As I was on a budget, all the shops were shut in lockdown, I bought 2nd-hand. Generally, best to have 2 the same, to facilitate dual-channel, but one will work. (There is the upgrades thread where all those types are suggestions are already consolidated.)

This is a remake of the old version, yes. I never played the original but I guess more or less so, chunky graphics. It is a native Linux binary, not emulation, different colours and remastered sound and music but the idea of the develop is it's their Original. A "Marmite" release. WestCoastSoftware who posted abover in this thread can answer other things... I heard the HD sequel which is now out for the Xbox One will follow on VCS later.

My pleasure, of course! I'm always trying to learn and pass on what I find out, to help. 🙂 I did the test today, as I promised, with my K400+, and I didn't get one failure with it. Your explanation about the USB hub sounds logical. I have the dongle in the front-left port of my VCS permanently, and a USB disk drive in the back. I do have a mini USB-hub, but for the USB disk drive(s) I tend to use the back ports. Old habits from the ZX Spectrum perhaps, of plugging things needlessly into the back of a computer, ha ha.

I have a Logitech K400+ wireless keyboard (almost the same, huh) and a Rapoo wireless keyboard+mouse set. I never had any problem with the Logitech, the range being much better incidentally. Perhaps the battery is low? As the USB device is constantly paired, and needs no device setup, as it appears as a normal USB keyboard, it should react as easily. (As I'm typing this via the VCS right now, I'll do an immediate test, but I'll check tomorrow if I am just having good luck or if there is something I am missing, but as I said, I've perhaps had 1-2 failures total.) F12 also brings up the boot menu, and it should be possible to add it to that, I just didn't try, as I am using Windows from an external USB 3.1 SSD, and have my internal M2 SATA for storage, which I share with an Ubuntu USB SSD. As I wrote, I'll have a play around and see if I can work out what the difference is with our Logitech keyboards. :-)

Atari continue to post articles on their Medium btw, which is good news. 🙂 This is the link to the article about D/Generation, and an extra back-story about this "retro release". https://atarivcs.medium.com/d-generation-returns-to-atari-for-its-30th-anniversary-76aacfe6c391 (Also good news that WCS are already fixing the bug.)
