Jani posted a blog update on the game, and confirmed that it will be available for the VCS. It's not clear how long after first "release", the game will appear in the VCS store, as Atari always check and need to package the game for release. (Price is $10 for early access only.)

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
justclaws replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
That's brilliant work. It definitely should have been the official released one! -
This is another resource which can be tested online, but could also be used to create games for the VCS. It's designed for 2D games, and applications, this time, but I don't think anybody really hates 2D games! https://playground.solar2d.com/ Do you have 8 minutes to spare?

Yes, he posted it only because they have a licence to create a game, I think. It may be done in-house, not sure. The game for sure looks nothing like the videos, but I think the game-play elements will be there, for couch co-op. I am sure Tommy talked about a hot-wheels licence in one of his video conversations. Unfortunately, because he does so many quite random chat-with-fans videos, I can't find the actual information...

Did you update your system to the latest firmware? Previously that used to be a problem, but my controllers now sync in about 3-5 seconds, since the first update, and the same with 2nd. One thing - you just need to tap the Atari button, if you already paired it once before. That's also the case with waking the console - tap the Atari button, and the console starts to come out of sleep immediately, the display comes on, and then it takes about 3-5 seconds to link. Holding the button until it flashes causes it to go into pairing mode, which causes problems.

This is another review of the game! He nailed it! 🙂

I noticed that Hans Ippisch, Intellivision President of European Operations, posted this video, very recently. Obviously it states from the start, not in-game footage, but it's got cool ideas. I'm guessing details of the new game are coming soon...?

Intellivision Amico - Tommy Tallarico introduction + Q&A
justclaws replied to Tommy Tallarico's topic in Intellivision Amico
Next time, end such a statement with "What do you think?" for +1. EDIT: Sorry, despite my jokey response, I overlooked that your reply already included a question already... I like that people ask questions, because we mostly all want answers... -
This is a nice video which reviews the VCS controllers and their use cases. I think for people who only have one or the other, this may be very useful.

An interesting link to a TV news story was posted on Reddit. 🙂

Utopos games have a new game on the way for the VCS. Utopos will be available on Steam, Atari VCS and Xbox. (If like Guntech, Steam version will only be for Windows 10 also.) Here's the first sneak peek of Utopos, a new multiplayer online battle arena game launching for early access on March 22! This looks very interesting, though the relationship to Guntech is quite clear. Who else is interested in online games? There are quite a few which could come to the VCS from existing platforms?

There are lots of top-10 free Windows games articles but I liked this one. I have played some of these, but not all of them. Right now no time for it. https://www.pcgamesn.com/100-best-free-pc-games

It worked first time for me. I have an external SSD in a USB 3.1 enclosure, and it boots in about 13 seconds. Two things come to mind. 1) How long before you get the blue screen - any code shown, because Windows 10 does give good crash info. 2) Did you download a new copy of the Windows ISO - because the VCS hardware are too new for an old image. 3) Are you sure you didn't make a slip with the instructions - we all do that sometimes, in our enthusiasm, huh? 4) It should not take long to create the install, so I suggest just doing the install again. 5) People get confused about the VHD choice on Win2USB - it is actually writing the image to the raw disk, btw. There is a whole thread all about Windows on the VCS. Maybe you find answers there, and we could maybe merge this thread later? Cheers, Richard.

Another development platform is also available free online. You can create games online and export to multiple platforms, including Linux. However, you can also create games to HTML5, to run in any recent browser... https://gdevelop-app.com/

The direction for the support ship does indeed use the rotary function of the classic controller, but the main ship does not, but I am used to using the modern controller for Guntech so far. I think control schemes are very subjective generally, so I love it when games allow customisation. e.g. lots of PC games allow WASD as keys, but I prefer WAXD. I always struggle with down on the S. Maybe my hands are too big, ha ha. I can touch type but whenever I have to use WASD, I despair! Jani's still very responsive to feedback, so it's probably worth dropping him a message directly! He added the multi-player after demoing the game with his kids - see a video that's on page 1. :-)

Somebody else had a lot of problems with Windows 10 drivers, or a lack of them. I suggested that they download an up-to-date installer from Microsoft Windows 10 site, which they did, and after that he had no problems. The problem with that previous user is he had an ISO image which was a couple of years old, and the chip set are 2019/2020 as I recall. I also had zero problems with networking etc. from a vanilla Windows 10 install. I subsequently downloaded and installed the updated AMD driverset, but it wasn't because I had any problems; it was just to get the best.

The video would not post in the first message of this thread for some weird reason. This is a very interesting video chat between all the members of their VCS design team. I hope that Atari can persuade the AMD team who worked with them to do a similar one!

I think everybody loves the VCS case design; only a RAM trapdoor is a sad omission. The design of the system hardware, case, PCB, peripherpals, is very interesting to me. Previously, I posted an article about Surface Ink who were contracted to Atari to work with Atari and AMD on the hardware design of the VCS. They now added a new video. This is the original article; I can't find the old post to this. https://surfaceink.com/portfolio-item/atari-vcs/ There was also during the campaign additional detall about the Surface Ink work too. They had a good partnership clearly. https://atarivcs.medium.com/the-atari-wireless-classic-joystick-and-atari-vcs-vault-677945d3d8d2

I think by title, and content, I'm going to post this here. It's rather interesting to watch.

Today, I found that Atari has published an update for the game, and it's got some more features. I love that it's continuing to develop, and I've very happy that I bought it. :-)

Can you use Atari VCS offline with the Atari OS?
justclaws replied to Jack Burton 1's topic in Atari VCS
Hi Jack. I cannot recreate the problem you are having. Maybe you are talking about the very first account, with the new console? Can you send me a photo of your screen when you have the problem, via PM? A network connection is definitely not required to login. One is required to create an account, because each is linked to an email. Once the account is created you don't need email connection. You can use Guest if you do not want to create an account instead. I have tried with both WIFI and Ethernet, making both unavailable. The result is only a warning message at the top of the screen. I'm baffled, quite honestly. I can understand you're frustrated, but I cannot work out what's happening for you. Cheers, Richard. -

A network connection is not mandatory. If you are using WIFI, you could just turn it off on the router, with Ethernet, unplug. I thought I just clicked <skip> or pressed <esc>, like during setup, but I'll check. From the dashboard, in settings, you can just clear the WIFI settings, once loaded. Only the store or online apps should require the network. If it can't be skipped, that would be a new bug, but it's very odd as it's certainly not intended. -
I think what catches the interest of non-gamer friends, is brief, movie-style trailers! Also, once they realise it's not what they heard, they're willing to look and discover. 🙂 Of course, this whole question is why companies have focus groups and why gamers and enthusiasts like us rarely find marketing works for us!?! (Also, my friends aren't gamers.) My ideas are probably way off the mark, and outlooks change a lot by nationality I think... The Guntech trailer also impresses people, not because it's the best game, that's a matter of personal taste, but for sure, it demonstrates how far from a retro console, the VCS, is. Likewise, the Danger Scavengers trailer really shows off the machine visually. We know, sadly, that people often judge a system by graphics, especially one which is retro-inspired, and where people have talked as if it only plays a few retro games.

Well, this works for some of my friends, who've seen it. I think it explains, and with humour. Of course, not the hardcore gamers, who already have a gaming rig, or other brand fanatics.

It's great to have another VCS developer giving direct updates here too. Thank you!
