    USB Paddle?

Hmm, when you say it takes some setting up, could your average Mame 32 user figure it out in a few minutes, or would it be a days long nightmare? I've been dying to play games like Arkanoid on Mame, but hesitate to buy any of the spinners out there because I doubt my ability to get them working properly. --Jason
  2. Since you got Burgertime, you already have one of the best games ever made for any classic system. I'd also recommend Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. And don't worry about not being able to play Donkey Kong. Coleco achieved the impossible by making the INT version even worse than the 2600 version. --Jason
  3. I'd say Millipede is in the top 20 games made for the 2600 and it's probably the 2600's best port after Ms. Pac-man and Crystal Castles. It's even better than the NES port, amazingly enough. --Jason
  4. Once again I am sorely tempted to sell part of my 2600 collection. I have alot of those games MIB myself. --Jason
  5. I'm very happy with my GP32, and I've only exploited a fraction of its capabilities. The NES emulator Little John is incredible. I've got Tengen Tetris, RCR, SMB 2&3, Megaman 1&2, Lolo 2&3 on it and they all work great. Another great Tetris game is Ah! My Goddess. It will take alot of space on your SmartMedia card but it's well worth a try even if you aren't a Tetris fan. AsteroidsGP is also great and very challenging. Be sure to check out www.gp32emu.com for much more detailed information. As for the MP3 player, it's OK. You have to go through a cumbersome file-renaming process to be able to play them, and one of the songs on my card now for some reason causes the player to hang. Also, you're not going to be able to get many songs on a 128M SM card. I've heard of a new program that's supposed to further compress MP3's, but I haven't tried that yet. Hope this helped some! --Jason P.S.--Be sure to get the frontlight version. It's worth the extra money!
  6. I would say River City Ransom Ex, but I don't think that's coming out until early next year. Maybe the Japanese version is coming out sooner? In any event, get a friend to mail this one to you, it's gonna be awesome! --Jason
  7. OK, thanks for the info. guys! Cuttle Cart II sounds really cool, but a bit out of my price range. So what's the deal with this Flashcart? --Jason
  8. Can someone please explain to me what a "cuttle cart" is? Thanks in advance. (If this question is in the wrong forum, please let me know that too!) --Jason
  9. Yes those levels took me forever. They're very long and require precision movement. I was very pleased when I finally beat it. Did I mention you can't use warp zones or you'll miss the last few secret levels? Those were even harder! Tempest Glad someone agrees and that I'm not just a klutz. How Nintendo expected 10 year old kids (from any country) to figure out SMB2 is beyond me. --Jason
  10. VS. SMB is different from NES SMB, and significantly more difficult. However, neither is anywhere near as difficult as the Japanese SMB2. I remember the first time playing Japanese SMB2 on my Gameboy Color. I'd heard rumors that it was tougher, but I was stunned at how much so. The last few boards are nearly impossible, but I finally did beat it. --Jason

    Astroblast

You must be joking. Astroblast is the best M Network game and is WAY better than Laser Blast. Actually, I think Astroblast is better than 2600 Space Invaders. --Jason
  12. It's more difficult than average, but not so hard you get frustrated and give up, which is another point in its favor. I'd say levels 19 and 20 on HERO are a bit tougher than the hardest level of MR. --Jason
  13. A possible non-technical solution: Check the difficulty switches. I think they turn pause on and off for this game. --Jason
  14. Montezuma's Revenge rocks. The game play is amazing, this is one game that shows what 2600 programmers were capable of when they were serious about creating a great game and/or weren't saddled with impossible time constraints. I paid $65 for my MIB copy, the most I've ever spent on a single 2600 game. It's worth every penny. --Jason
  15. Agreed. But that's not saying much. My vote for the most dumbed down 2600/arcade conversion (after DKJr. of course) is M Network's Burgertime. Appalling. --Jason
  16. I finally beat Adventures of Lolo 2 yesterday afternoon (with no outside assistance). It's a great game that is MUCH harder than the original. On to Lolo 3! --Jason
  17. Sheesh. Maybe I should auction my copy of this game. It's boxed and in nearly perfect shape. And RCR does work perfectly on GP32. --Jason
  18. You want to play it on Mame. That is by far the best "version" out there. Of the home systems, I would give the nod to the 5200, but for a punching problem that must be somekind of bug. Basically, whenever you punch a bottle, there's about a 50-50 chance that you will die. Period. And it's not just me missing either, I played the game many times as a kid and know what I'm doing. The bottle punching problem got so frustrating that I stopped playing the game. 2600 Popeye is a medicore arcade port, but there are much much worse, so I won't rag on it too hard. My biggest gripes are the blocky graphics and the fact that Popeye basically disintegrates when caught. Does Brutus hit him with a phaser or what? Still, it does have three screens IIRC and the game is more fair, ie the bottle punching problem is gone. The NES version is pretty good. As for the C64, I don't ever remember playing it. --Jason
  19. Donkey Kong Jr. My extensive comments about this catastrophe can be found here. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ght=donkey+kong --Jason

    Moon Patrol... WOW

Moon Patrol is an awesome game! Brilliant ports like this one that show what the 2600 is capable of are why I come down so hard on crappy ports like Donkey Kong Jr., Mr. Do!, Burgertime, etc. --Jason
  21. I had a copy of Mr. Do's Castle for the 2600 once, and it remains the only cart with a rarity rating higher than 6 that I ever owned. I turned around and sold it almost immediately however because it's an awful game, one of those miserable 2600 arcade ports that should never have been attempted. I'm pretty sure I had it for the Commodore 64 too. It was a decent port of a mediocre arcade game. --Jason
  22. What a great game this was! Sorry I can't help you with your specific question, it's been a while since I played it. --Jason
  23. Blasphemy! Super Breakout is still one of the best video games ever made!! --Jason
  24. Is there another version of Skeet Shoot out there? I only found my copy to be fun for about .0000000000000000001 seconds. --Jason
