  1. OK, I made it to the 4th floor. I have no idea how to beat the boss on that level. He kicked my ass before I even knew what was happening. --Jason
  2. You're doing better than I am; I haven't gotten past the first floor yet. --Jason
  3. I got 204,750. Not bad considering I don't play this game very often. The recording was done in Mame32 .84. --Jason galaga.zip
  4. Now I have proof!! Today I scored 1,248,600 on Mr. Do! and made it to Scene 90. Check out the recording below. I used Mame32 version 84 (the latest one I believe). --Jason mrdo.zip
  5. I don't think anyone mentioned Bank Heist. That's an excellent game that gets very challenging on the higher levels. --Jason
  6. I'm glad to hear that Trotter made it to Australia! --Jason
  7. I think this is a great idea! In the past couple weeks, I've gotten 950,000 on Mr. Do (I have a MAME recording of this one) and my all time high score of 736,000 on Donkey Kong Jr. Still no luck breaking my 6 year old high score on Ms. Pac-man though. --Jason
  8. I've reached the kill screen on Donkey Kong Jr. a few times. I've also beaten Mortal Kombat I & II on one credit. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. --Jason
  9. bump OK, I've got 45 auctions running right now for various Atari 2600 games. Some end tomorrow, while others end next weekend. More will be posted tonight. I'd have to say my premiere auction at the moment is Cannonman, one of the toughest Sears game to find. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...5&since=-1&rd=1 Basically, I've decided to dramatically pare down my collection to a couple systems, some controllers, and 40 or so games. Since I still have well over 300 games, I will be running auctions for quite some time over the next couple months. Some of these games I will never see again, but trust me, the money is going to a very special cause. --Jason
  10. About the White House picture... Apparently, the section of Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House has been closed to pedestrians for several months now. The fence I'm standing in front of extends for at least 100 yards in both directions. I've heard they're making repairs and/or adding yet another layer of security. The street will eventually reopen for pedestrians, but I don't think it ever will for vehicles. Sorry, I wish I could've gotten closer! --Jason
  11. Eggomania, which I pointed out the last time this topic was raised. It's not as difficult as Kaboom! but it's still fun to play and very challenging at the hardest level. --Jason
  12. I was stuck at around 500K for a long time before I found a website that gave me a few pointers. The key is to find a way to the top of the screen as soon as possible on the later boards. Hang out above the apples, and you'll be amazed how often the monsters dig right up beneath them, essentially committing mass suicide. Hanging out at the top of the screen also makes it easy to pick off letter monsters the instant they appear. Now I'm going back to Ms. Pac-man. Maybe I'll have better luck after taking a break for a while. --Jason
  13. Yes, after over 2 years of practice at this game in Mame32, last night I scored 1,027,100 points and made it to Scene 67. No, I did NOT use the 255 lives trick! I played the Taito version which is slightly easier than the Universal one early on. After Scene 25 or so, there's no significant difference in difficulty. I'm still a long way away from the record, which I've heard is about 8,000,000. --Jason

    RIP Dragster

This is why I always keep two copies of my favorites, Crystal Castles, Yars' Revenge, Kaboom, etc., on hand. --Jason
  15. My scorn for Donkey Kong Jr. has been well documented in this forum. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ighlight=karate It's at the top of my Atari 2600 shit list despite some fierce competition. And yes, the controls also suck; I neglected to mention that in my previous tirades. --Jason
  16. It's not a bug. All the Namco collections are a bit off. If you want to play the original Pac-man, find an arcade machine (good luck), or use Mame. --Jason
  17. I have this game boxed, but I refuse to play it. In my opinion, it is the most frustrating Atari 2600 game. --Jason
  18. [bump] I've got one last round of auctions going for boxed Atari 2600 games. My premiere auctions this time around are Omega Race complete and Activision Skiing complete with the patch and a letter of congratulations from Activision dated April 2, 1981. http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...5&since=-1&rd=1 Good luck! --Jason
  19. Thank you very much. I will look for Joe's response. --Jason
  20. Here's every variable I can think of... First of all, I know the paddles work. I use them quite often on my Atari. I am using Mame32 Version .80. My operating System is Windows XP. I tried plugging Stelladaptor into all 4 of my computer's USB ports. It was recognized each time. I went to control panel ----->Game Controllers and removed my other controller. Stelladaptor is first and only controller on the list. I calibrated the controller, both the button and dial were working. The game I tried to play was Arkanoid; I tried several clones of it too. I tried to use a joystick, it did work on another Mame32 game (Mr. Do.) Any ideas? I really want to play Arkanoid. --Jason
  21. Update: I mailed the winning bidder his games on Saturday and I just got positive feedback from him. I sure hope he takes good care of those babies because I'll probably never see them again. --Jason
  22. There's no way that Sears Pic Label Asteroids should be a 2. I got mine in a trade with Cassidy Nolen. It's the only one I've ever seen. --Jason
  23. [bump] I just listed some of my hard to find Activision games for the 2600 on Ebay. This latest round includes Private Eye, River Raid II, Kung Fu Master, Frostbite, and Commando complete with the box and instructions. I'll have another 10 boxed games listed by tomorrow night. Good luck! --Jason
  24. These days ANY picture of Michael Jackson creeps me out. --Jason
  25. Yes, but maybe they won't let foreigners use them. The worst that will happen is that I'll have to pay the "tourist" rate, which will still be less than a dollar an hour. Edit: Supposedly the only sites that get censored are those that criticize China. AA will be way under the censors' radar. --Jason
