I think I have a battery pack for one of those somewhere if you want it.
AX
Battery pack? Sure if it'll make it work. How does it connect?
-
Hmm, the battery door is missing but i've tried two different 6v adapters and all i get is a hum sound and the bottom half of the screen is white. It played fine when i used a 9v before but i get the same thing with that now.
-
I picked up one of these awhile back with two cartridges but no power adapter. What will work on these?

Git Er Done!

will post again when it's working.
Now that is the kind of positive posting we need more of around here!
Thanks. I've mended the piece i mentioned earlier as pictured below. Now just to get it aligned and back together.
You mended a worm gear???? How does one do that? Is there some kind of special glue or something??? Can you link me to a guide?
Chris
It wasn't that hard really I use a specific glue and cut a piece of plastic and shaped it to the size and shape of the area and mounted it and waited for it to dry. Then i light sanded it to make sure everything was even and then added the white grease that was there before and it's good as new now. Have been playing it the last couple nights now. With all this done now, i have a model 1 and a model 2. I plan to pick up a CDX later on. Just not in a big hurry. But i'll get around to it. If you need details, let me know. Only took a couple minutes to set it up. Drying time is the biggest wait.

I have a working model one, but i live in fear of it dying. Should get a model 2, but my wife has caught on to the fact that I own multiple things with common functionality. I should have convinced her that the different genesis systems could play different games.
Maybe you still can. Tell her they don't have region lock out.

I have one controller... I just can't get it to work.
I'll take pictures this evening if I get a chance.
Not a problem. I can rebuild it.
-
wanna buy my boxed 5200 and abouyt 15-20 loose games?
no controllers though
Send me a pm with price and if you can send pics, that would be great. Might be interested as i can always get the controllers for it.

So any luck. Would love to see if it ended up working.
Got it going last night. Man, you'd think this thing was new or something. Works perfect now. Nod bad for $5. Something told me not to leave it at the thrift store that day. If anyone has a problem with theirs in any way, please let me know. I learned alot about these things and it really paid off. Would like to help others out if they run into problems like i did.

I got to watch that video (I couldn't watch it at work) and that is a really complicated and rambling way of saying the things the video I was talking about says. I haven't found a Model 1 SegaCD worth bothering with at all in a while so I haven't had a chance to fix one, but what is said in the video make sense to me.
You know of a better video than this one? Let me know because i want to see it. This guy rambled on so much, i'm not sure what to think. Not to say he didn't try, but to me, there's not enough detail.

Well i actually had the tray working but the eye wasn't coming all the way up and sounded like a slipping gear. Found out the corkscrew gear that raises it up and down had a chip in the plastic next to the track where it's greased. filling that in now and will wait for it to dry and shape it. will post again when it's working.

Well, i did manage to find a loose cable i overlooked which fixed the no sound and logo issue. Now the drive tries to work but I'm having trouble aligning the wheel that moves the tray in and out. It has to be in a position that makes it hit the switch that lets it know the tray is in. I found one video but I'm still having trouble.
-
Well i decided to actually connect it to the tv to see if it was doing anything there and this is what i get. When i turn it on, i just get a screen like you see in one pic but when i hit reset, i get the other screen shown in the pic with text that says to put the disc on the tray. There are no sounds from the tray and it does not come out. No Sega CD logo on screen either. Any idea whats causing this?

Boxed ones are getting fewer and father between. I find a lot of loose ones, but mostly in poor appearance.
Yeah, same here. All i ever see is loose ones and when there is a boxed one, it's in poor shape.

I want a 4-port.
-
So I'm thinking about buying a 5200 soon. I know i want it complete in box. How much should i expect to pay and what do i look for?
-
Well, your first problem is that you're playing a Sega CD. Stop doing that!
I'd look into getting a clamshell one, too, as they're still not very expensive and work WAY better than the front loaders.
I have a model 2 that i use regularly. I just picked this one up since it was cheap. I don't know of any problems with the tray at this time. I only get a green light. No sounds or attempts to try and open and no red access light. It can't be the fuse if it's getting power. I don't think the tray would stop the red light from coming on and it should make some kind of sound if it was stuck and trying to open. I checked YouTube and could only find issues withe the fuse and some talk about the tray. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. I should be able to fix but have never encountered this problem before and I'm not sure whats going on.

First, welcome to AtariAge, its a great place to be.
The most common issue with these is a piece of the tray that gets jammed and wont let it open or close properly. Look for SegaCD model 1 fixes on youtube, there are a pile of videos that show how to take it apart and what to look for to solve this issue. It might not be your only issue, but it certainly sounds like this is one of your issues.
Good luck, I would love to have a model 1 SegaCD, so you have my envy.
Thanks alot there. I'll give Youtube a try. Forgot all bout that. I'll post again here if anything comes up.

Picked this up a few days ago for only $5. I knew it would need some work as it had been taken apart. After getting it home and checking it out, i found that it is complete. Tried it out after re aligning the tray and all i get is the green ready light. It comes on, blinks once, and stays on. Nothing else. No sounds, tray doesn't eject and no red light. Any ideas?
