Oh i can't stand the slim cases. Anytime I've had to replace a ps1 case, i always use the same as what came off.

It's also worth noting that the EA sports games for the Mega Drive look like this. So yeah, your best bet is the Sega Sports games, unless they too are horribly deformed beyond belief (seriously EA, the hell were you thinking with those carts?). EDIT: Whoops, it took me a second to realize you were talking about the cases. Still, a very good piece of information for anyone who's interested in making, say, a repro or something. What does everybody think of the cover project and the dvd cases for sega cds etc. I prefer to use original whenever possible but sometimes people say heck with it and go with something different

Wise choice of photo as well. Big fan of Back to the Future. I could watch it 100 times and porobably already have, lol

These are good ideas. I forgot all about that. Only thing is some of the sports genesis cases are EA sports cases and have their logo on the inside with a different cartridge insert and are usually a bit thicker. Sega Sports should work great tho like World Series Baseball. I could always donate the actual games on Craigslist for free or something like that.

Can anyone help me with this. It turns on but sometimes hums and acts like it's not starting correctly. I turned it on yesterday and it acted like it was going to make it but then just hung up. Any ideas where to look. I doubt any fuses are bad from what i could see.

Where would i find some empty cases for Genesis carts? I probably only need about 10 of them.

Well, still no luck with this thing. I don't understand. It worked fine with a 9 volt and i was playing all the games on there. Now i get the distortion and noise. Same with the 6 volt as well. Tried a 3 and nothing at all as it's too low for it. Can't use batteries since the battery door is missing. -

Lol, i don't know what to do. It acts like it's getting too much power or something. I tried a 6 volt and all i get is the white bar across the bottom half and a hum. -

Battery pack? Sure if it'll make it work. How does it connect? Slides in the hole that looks like it needs a cover. It doesn't actually take a cover, but that pack (you put batteries in the pack) AX Sounds cool. Works for me. Let me know what you want to do. -

Hmm, the battery door is missing but i've tried two different 6v adapters and all i get is a hum sound and the bottom half of the screen is white. It played fine when i used a 9v before but i get the same thing with that now. -
I picked up one of these awhile back with two cartridges but no power adapter. What will work on these?

Front loading Sega CD problem

Now that is the kind of positive posting we need more of around here! Thanks. I've mended the piece i mentioned earlier as pictured below. Now just to get it aligned and back together. You mended a worm gear???? How does one do that? Is there some kind of special glue or something??? Can you link me to a guide? Chris It wasn't that hard really I use a specific glue and cut a piece of plastic and shaped it to the size and shape of the area and mounted it and waited for it to dry. Then i light sanded it to make sure everything was even and then added the white grease that was there before and it's good as new now. Have been playing it the last couple nights now. With all this done now, i have a model 1 and a model 2. I plan to pick up a CDX later on. Just not in a big hurry. But i'll get around to it. If you need details, let me know. Only took a couple minutes to set it up. Drying time is the biggest wait. -

Front loading Sega CD problem

Got it going last night. Man, you'd think this thing was new or something. Works perfect now. Nod bad for $5. Something told me not to leave it at the thrift store that day. If anyone has a problem with theirs in any way, please let me know. I learned alot about these things and it really paid off. Would like to help others out if they run into problems like i did. -

You know of a better video than this one? Let me know because i want to see it. This guy rambled on so much, i'm not sure what to think. Not to say he didn't try, but to me, there's not enough detail. -

Front loading Sega CD problem

Well i actually had the tray working but the eye wasn't coming all the way up and sounded like a slipping gear. Found out the corkscrew gear that raises it up and down had a chip in the plastic next to the track where it's greased. filling that in now and will wait for it to dry and shape it. will post again when it's working. -
Front loading Sega CD problem

Well, i did manage to find a loose cable i overlooked which fixed the no sound and logo issue. Now the drive tries to work but I'm having trouble aligning the wheel that moves the tray in and out. It has to be in a position that makes it hit the switch that lets it know the tray is in. I found one video but I'm still having trouble. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddGTV6y8MOg -
Front loading Sega CD problem
Video_Invader replied to Video_Invader's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Well i decided to actually connect it to the tv to see if it was doing anything there and this is what i get. When i turn it on, i just get a screen like you see in one pic but when i hit reset, i get the other screen shown in the pic with text that says to put the disc on the tray. There are no sounds from the tray and it does not come out. No Sega CD logo on screen either. Any idea whats causing this? -
Yeah, same here. All i ever see is loose ones and when there is a boxed one, it's in poor shape.
