  1. Recently fired up my heavy sixer after 5 years. The picture was very grainy. I cleaned RF cable to no avail. Then moved on to bigger and better things for whatever reason. Eventually broke a pin off in the cable in the attached picture. Can I salvage this part from a light sixer? From what I've seen in youtube videos it doesn't seem so. Thanks in advance!

  3. When I was very young, my family had a Commodore, I think it was the 64. I remember playing Ace of Aces and Frogger on it. But there's one game that I just can't remember. It involved either a submarine or a diver. Each level would bring you deeper. Not much to go on, but that's all I can remember. If anyone knows it, thanks in advance!
  4. I'm gonna go ahead and add Donkey Kong Jr. I still haven't beaten the third stage. But what really annoys me is how poor the movement is. Games like Jungle Hunt and Pitfall have such fluid, maneuverable characters. DK jr barely moves and when he falls, he floats for a sec then falls slooowly, and then real fast. I hate games that drag out the death sequence. Pitfall II is especially brutal. DK jr's movement kind of reminds me of Spelunker for the NES.
  5. What games are good to use with the Trak-Ball? I just tried Activision's Skiing with the TB and it was pretty fun. With Centipede the left/right motions are always diagonal and slow.
  6. nooooooo Maybe we'll get an original homebrew...
  7. I have never tried it with Crystal Castles, the teddy bear on the box put me off it. I can't get any fine positioning on my TB. Maybe the WICO TB is better. I was going to buy one, but then I read that it only works in joystick mode, so it couldn't be used to play the Missile Command TB hack. And why do almost all of the TB's have a yellow ball? It looks like earwax. Black or stainless steel would have looked so much cooler. And I agree, someone needs to mod Millipede for the TB. I would definitely buy a copy.
  8. I tried playing Centipede with a Trak-Ball and it was pretty horrible. Does Millipede respond any better? I am aware Atari never produced any games that took advantage of the Trak-Ball's analog control, but I was surprised at how poorly it functioned with Centipede. It was even way too slow to use on Missile Command. I've been spoiled by the Missile Command TB hack. I just bought a copy from the AA store, and I can't put it down. I wish there were more games that utilized the TB to its full extent.
  9. Space Invaders! there are so many variations!
  10. I just picked up a Starplex controller, and mine does the same thing! On Astroblast, the ship turns invisible, and if I get hit the game freezes in the exact same manner you described. It's pretty frustrating, although I actually prefer the Paddle on Astroblast, so I'm not too upset about it. Also, does anyone know what games work best on "Astroblast mode?" So far I've only noticed Asteroids.
  11. I am not old enough to have experienced it, but I imagine it must have been a let down to play 2600 Pac-Man after being used to the arcade. One of the most frustrating things for me was the joystick. Since all Atari sticks move in 8 directions, sometimes you end up pushing it at an angle and Pac-man will not make the turn. They should have made a rock-solid 4 directional Pac-Man controller. That would have been a pretty cool tie-in. I am surprised it does not exist considering how many aftermarket joysticks are available. I have a Plug 'n Play like that, and it's much more fun. Unfortunately, it does not save your high score. I usually just play Ms. Pac Man on the 2600.
  12. Awesome seller. I just bought a bunch of 2600 carts from stoutguru, and they arrived quickly and in great shape. Great packing job, and great communication too. Thanks!
