  1. That's pretty interesting. At some point I thought that most testing of games would be internal, but looks like that some companies would distribute prototypes for selected people. Maybe for reference you would like to see this http://www.atari2600.com/ccp7/ecom-prodshow/Beamrider-PROTOTYPE-COLGAM0444.html
  2. It's a shame that some websites don't update their lists as their existences change, specially when they are sold-out. I've put several times an e-mail just to find there is nothing. Here at Mexico the only place where I've found Colecovision items is at http://www.mercadolibre.com.mx, kind of Mexican eBay. I never have bought anything as I got all first from US/Canada (thanks to Pixelboy and Yurkie) but in the last year I've seen at least three Colecovision systems and core of an ADAM at reasonable prices.
  3. The open architecture was a good thing, but was the name IBM what make it successful, because for the first time a big name was supporting personal computers. Because technically the initial PC specifications were far very limited, 8088 at 4.77 mhz, configurations in 16K, 32K and 64K of RAM, monochrome text or 4 color. The success here was that business feel confident on IBM and they required the 80 columns display commonly used in mainframes. Of course, IBM didn't know that in contract they leaved open door to M$ to provide the operating system to other manufacturers, and that the open architecture would allow lesser cost clones to ultimately overcome IBM. With the IBM support, everyone wanted to jump in making software because they know that IBM would not leave they in the bare as happened with many other little computers.
  4. Because cimerians said "back in the day", that is the games you bought for your Colecovision in 1983-1985. Anyway I commented about the games from that period I wanted to play the last year.
  5. Tapper. I expected a lot more after playing the ugly but smooth PC version many years ago. Also Congo Bongo because it lacks the crab's level and the starting intermission. I believe that the definitive prize to the most ugly game is for Slurpy and the silly one is for Tomarc the Barbarian.
  6. Well, I never messed up with AUTOEXEC.BAT, mine worked just fine from the start Check http://www.msxcartridgeshop.com/ there are recovery utilities.
  7. I'm totally in the dark. I only have tried loading ROMs individually.
  8. By the way, I don't know how to make a MULTIROM, anyway doesn't matter because I load a ROM every time
  9. Here is the sequence of steps: 1. Load your micro-SD memory with ROM using your PC (and a USB adapter, of course) 2. Put the micro-SD memory in the slot of the MegaFlash ROM SCC (if you have two slots, use the one farther from you when the cartridge is inserted) 3. Optional, if you have already loaded a ROM press Esc on boot to access menu. 4. It will appear the internal Flash directory. 5. Press L to select another drive, press B to select the micro-SD memory. 6. Select your ROM file using cursor keys and press Enter 7. Press reset and enjoy your game. (repeat since pass 3 if you want to play another ROM) You're right this info is not included in the manual and it took me some time to figure it.
  10. I've that cartridge, a very good one! You'll need a micro-SD memory, I've used a 2GB memory. Simply put your ROM files in the memory, then at the start menu press a letter to select the unit (just I've forget what letter is it, let me check it), move the cursor over the directory and press Enter over the ROM. That's all.
  11. What can I say? the guy knows how to sell a cartridge
  12. playazclub is right about with his advice. The good thing is that apparently everything else works fine. Also I would suggest to clean all the Colecovision PCB with alcohol and a toothbrush, it will dry after a few minutes. Do not disconnect controllers while Colecovision is turned on, because that is known to damage 74LS541. And of course, welcome to the Colecovision world!
  13. Definitely the graphics look less "blocky" in Colecovision and all preserve the original gameplay, sound stays almost the same though slightly improved. All the games have improved graphics in some way. At this moment I remember I saw improvement in H.E.R.O. Keystone Kapers and Decathlon backgrounds and in River Raid sprites.
  14. The replacement for sound chip looks fine. The picture of the RAM chip looks right but the description is wrong (says 65536x1 when it is 16384x1). Anyway the picture is more important. I wish you luck repairing your Colecovision , both errors look like easily solvable
  15. It looks like the second unit has bad VRAM chips, the difficult thing here is to find what one to replace because the failure is rather uncommon. You can replace all the eight just to be sure In the first unit you could check directly the sound output of the SN76489 with earphones to check if it is generating any sound, so you can check if it is the sound chip or the amplifier. I'm a little on the dark here because the schematics available are for NTSC units.
  16. As far as I know the Tandy 1000 has a special 16-color mode. Anyway my only boxed PC game is Delta Force: Land Warrior, checking ebay... hmmm... I can sell it anything between $9.95 and $99.95 USD. I think I'll save it another ten years.
  17. I hope not. I really would like to play it as soon as possible
  18. Nice to know about a newcomer to the Coleco lands By the way, the 6502 substract instruction always includes carry, the right way to substract is to clear the carry flag using the SEC instruction, this is the cause of the weird behavior. So your code should look like: LDA #0 SEC SBC #1 For adding the sense is reversed, your code should be: LDA #0 CLC ADC #1 Thanks for helping me to "undust" my 6502 memories
  19. Choplifter and Keystone Kapers are available here http://atariage.com/forums/topic/168225-fs-colecovision-cartridges/ Jumpman Junior here http://www.atari2600.com/ccp7/ecom-catshow/ColecoVision-Games-A-M.html BoulderDash currently is in eBay, search for it (though very pricely, I think) And I'm sending you a PM for the other two.
  20. The original Altair was sold at the ridiculous price of $397 USD (Fire in the Valley, Swaine) It was a great offer and part of its sucess because Intel was selling the 8080 at $360 USD the unit.
  21. I think that the prices for CIB look pretty interesting
  22. Don't worry. It's fine. Still 8 months for it to be available
