Sorted by ordering date? or sorted alphabetically? or simply by what you find first? just wondering if I'm in the first batch

WTS: ColecoVision w/ 6 Games - $80 OBO
nanochess replied to ReddMcKnight's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
The price is reasonable, I would buy it but I already have one Colecovision. I suggest you to put at least one picture of the whole lot. It's hard to buy without seeing. -
Here is one of the lots you are looking for: http://atariage.com/...co-ladybug-cib/ I've lost a lot of interesting things in Marketplace, just because I don't have the time to check (or maybe them where not for me, a common proverb in Mexico) But sometimes I enter exactly in time and I get them Besides getting a lot of thirty cartridges just for one sometimes just doesn't fit.

I forgot to say that the TI/99-4A has the same video chip as Colecovision, so VDP techniques apply to both. Of course the games cited are very big (mostly because 1K of memory in Colecovision), so Princess Quest sizes up to 256K and Mecha-8 to 128K. For MSX (another similar machine but with more memory) I was able to compress each game in 64K ROM cartridges.

I'm reposting from a similar subject in Colecovision forum http://atariage.com/...ll#entry2616436 By the way, the vertical scrolling is even better because it's not so limiting in terms of color but it's more limited in number of available tiles. Also a good tip for programmers is the use of automated tools to calculate combinations of tiles and removing duplicated tiles in order to get more scene complexity. Here are two videos of my games with smooth scrolling using these techniques running in Colecovision. Princess Quest Mecha-8 http://www.youtube....h?v=hsAUDZpJc0A

I would thought that I saved a lot of money for another Coleco thing

A question about glue in homebrew labels
nanochess replied to nanochess's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
This is what I've read about plaque on Atari cartridges: http://atariage.com/...sfully-removed/ including what a press operator says It also links to some ideas to clean labels using some chemicals before them are further deteriorated. And I found this that supports the retroillucid's idea of using Elmer's glue (I don't think it exists in Mexico, but we have Pritt stick) http://atariage.com/...rtridge-labels/ Also recommends NOT to use Superglue because the "Atarisoft"-like effect. By the way, so far I've validated the idea of using a Hair-Dryer to remove a label (a Gorf cartridge,) but I did it a little fast and it leaved a spot of paper -
A question about glue in homebrew labels
nanochess replied to nanochess's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I suppose that I'm safe using the silica gel. Thanks for the answers. -
I find interesting the 3d printing part! and more than you thought it for homebrews I know controllers for Atari, Colecovision, Intellivision, MSX, SMS and NES, but I never heard before or seen SNK Neo Geo. I'll see if I find one at least to feel it, many consoles didn't made it to Mexico.

Hi everybody. So far I've almost one hundred of loose Colecovision cartridges and some CIB. I've learnt that Atarisoft/Spinnaker/Sega labels use a kind of "acid" glue that "eats" the label through the years leaving "dark" looking spots, this even happens with some Coleco/Parker Brother cartridges under certain humidity conditions. So far looks like the only solution is to keep cartridges along small silica gel bags to stop the process. So my question is what kind of glue is being used in homebrew labels? is it safe for, let us say, 20 years? I'm thinking in Collectorvision, Team Pixelboy and everyone else that has published homebrews. Of course all my carts are away from sun, inside plastic boxes and with generous quantities of silica gel small bags.

This remembers me my LCD-TV with terrible viewing angles and anything plugged into Composite video seems to be badly upscaled (my MSX,) ironically a connection through RF looks a lot better (my Colecovision )

No, first time ever I've heard of it.

By the way, I've tried the hair-dryer trick over a duplicate dirty Gorf cartridge and it works very well to remove the label, just do it slowly with equal force and it should be fine. The Smurfs cartridge has two screws, while the Facemaker seems to be only glued (that is what I was saying about breaking it out, only by force) -

Try to open it slightly to clean the inside PCB. I've sitting next to me two cartridges: Smurf's Paint and Play and a Facemaker, both in excellent state and them don't work . Them are well closed so I think the only way to open them would be breaking them... nah! already I've got replacements that work -
I've managed to found the page http://www.hammondmfg.com/1553colors.htm I think Pixelboy or retroillucid can help you to get cartridge cases at a reasonable price.

Alcohol and cotton, rub gently over the cartridge PCB connector. If the cartridge still fails, you can open slightly and try to clean it inside, it worked for me with Pitfall II. But unfortunately sometimes the cartridges simply fail -
First thing you should do is to test your Roller Controller with Slither or Victory (with switch in roller mode), you should be able to move your turret easily over the screen. If the response seems weird but works both up/down and right/left it's possible that there is dust inside or some mechanical part is out of its place, just remove screws and clean the inside. If this doesn't solve the problem, it is probable that the optical sensors are bad and unfortunately them are hard to find.
-
Well, maybe simply it was that the ROM inside your cartridge is getting oxydized and then it will start to fail, each time more, until it definitely doesn't work again ever. Or maybe simply you should clean the cartridge PCB contacts with cotton and alcohol, sometimes even you can open slightly the cartridge and clean the inside around the chips, it worked for me for a Pitfall II Cartridge that failed after a few seconds.

nanochess replied to Pixelboy's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Thanks! As Princess Quest was coded first for MSX, I had time to improve it for Colecovision so it has exclusive extras that make it even better than seen in video , besides there are some graphic candy that doesn't show in video And currently I'm coding more awesome improvements for Mecha-8 I will work for the best possible game just until before Luc needs to start beta tests and burning ROM chips for cartridges -
