I have it installed in a Mega ST. If its a MSTE with a HDD solution like CosmosEX or a ultra satan(no mechanical drive) it will work just fine. -5v is still needed but can be added easily

With the exception of changing from the nomenclature from CH1, 2 & 3 to V1, 2 & 3 between pages 2 and 5, the documentation couldn't be easier to understand. The incoming and outgoing pinouts are on page five of the pdf documentation. Just double-check those with a meter to make certain they're giving you the voltage outputs you're expecting and you should be good, at least with the PSU.
I'm not sure that PSU will provide the juice you may need for a Mega STE with an internal HD, etc., but it powers my 1040STE with minimal internal, unpowered upgrades quite easily.
It doesn't look like @Umberto told you, but you really should have ordered 3 of these as well:
These would have made things quite a bit easier to wire it in.
Good luck!
I'm running a lightning usb with usb HDD and usb DVD no problems. Has ample power. But meanwell has bigger PSU's if needed

are these still available? if they are I want 2 thanks

It will save you so much time to find the cradle. Especially for the power switch and fan. I would bet my left you know what, that Brad at Best has just the metal work in stock

You can easily jerry rig it into the original psu cradle. I have mine running straight for 2 months no probs.
download the spec pdf it shows the connections
-
You could do this to the original psu

No but there are that do. The one I have has a -12 rail. Very small medical grade 50 watts

The Mste will only draw as many as needed. With a physical mechanical hard drive it will need more. Minimum of 50 watts. The stfm psu is 30 watts and it will power a hard drive. If your pluging in a alt psu more is better. Look up meanwell psu's
they do make them with -12v
I have one in my Mega st with lots of goodies attached with no problems

As for the LHE drawing more current in a 7800. Anytime you add more components into the system that aren't powered from an external supply, they will draw a little more current from the entire system to keep them powered up. But you can correct some of this by using a larger output voltage regulator. A new 1A output regulator would be fine for most using their 7800s with an AV mod. I put 2A output regulators into mine and most of my clients systems. Now even though the regulators can provide up to 2A of current along their +5 output, you are still going to be limited by the actual power adapter you are using.
The LHE always looked good on a CRT which, is what you guys are comparing your screens from. But on a modern flat panel display, the LHE can turn ugly real quick.
I put a traco power regulator in mine, got rid of the heat sink

I have both, very little noticeable difference in the s-video

That's the way is supposed to look. I believe Lace scan will give you more image area, but its a hardware mod.

I do, where are you located?

Can you swap out the keyboard also can you scope the 5v and 12v to see if it is a clean source

Yes

As stated above on a STF its the Yamaha 2149 (U19) pins 19 and 20

Is there any reason why 140KB ATX discs won't run on my SDrive Max? These are mostly polish games, like Robbo etc. http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/Atari 8bit Preserved Software 2020-01-25/Robbo (1989)(L.K. Avalon)(PL)[disk].zip
All other stuff loads normally: 90KB discs, cas, atr's.
Of course, I have tried many OS, turn on/off basic, setup SDM as 1050 etc. All I get is BOOT ERROR at first sector each time.
My machine is 65XE with Ultimate 1MB. I use 1.2c firmware on SDM. Can it be fixed in SDM firmware maybe?
Bad file, I have had very few atr's not work. But have had plenty of atx files not work. Try to find it in a atr.

Buck converter will give your -5v rail from the 12v rail.
Like I said in post 35, I have one installed in a Mage ST not a MSTE. Mage ST only has a 5v and 12v rails.

Your right this would be a better choice. The other one you listed is to long to fit in a Mega STE
