  1. ah thanks completed it without using the holy hand grenade I had missed the teleport at the top of the arrow room left of the pacman room obligatory pictures from my new powkiddy RGB30 running JELOS - https://powkiddy.com/en-uk/products/pre-sale-powkiddy-rgb30-rk3566-handheld-game-console-built-in-wifi save states really help... the 2nd part night time run through shows these hidden teleport areas as it fades to darkness
  2. bumping this old thread as I'm back playing this again after many years With the antic version, is possible to get the grail back to the start without using the holy hand grenade to blow up a room ?
  3. any more after that ? I've got as far as synistops <space bar> <space bar> 2 but havent had any luck finding the next character if there is even one
  4. impressive thanks I'll give that a go needing to land on the runway didnt even cross my mind either I'm moving onto my next favorite game - http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-galahad-and-the-holy-grail_6499.html but I'll head over to your official game patch topic for this one and keep the forum nice and clean ....
  5. impressive thanks for those especially like the idea of space bar for bombing dont suppose you have one to stop you going too low and crashing ?
  6. ah my fault I should have used a forced branch instead of an absolute jump as the cartridge has the code relocated at a different address in memory using the rom dump here - http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-blue-max_s700.html original - Altirra> s 0 Lffff AD AC 06 c9 02 Match found at: 5381 Altirra> u 5381 5381: AD AC 06 LDA $06AC 5384: C9 02 CMP #$02 5386: 90 5C BCC $53E4 5388: CD C7 06 CMP $06C7 538B: B0 0D BCS $539A patched - Altirra> u 5381 5381: AD C7 06 LDA $06C7 5384: 8D AC 06 STA $06AC 5387: 18 CLC 5388: 90 10 BCC $539A search for - AD AC 06 C9 02 90 5C CD C7 replace with - AD C7 06 8D AC 06 18 90 10 attached file for testing now on to bombing your own hanger... it might take me a while Blue Max final battle hack.rom
  7. special targets and final battle are all mentioned in the manual - http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-blue-max_5978.html so back to the hex edit challenge... it was the 2nd address block identified by Rybags looking at the source code to blue max here - https://gitlab.com/atari/bluemax (linked from it is this block of code that executes if you make a successful take off - 005800 LDA $6AC 005820 CMP #2 005840 BCC SRT 005860 CMP $6C7 005880 BCS V0 005900 INC $6A7 005920 .18 LDA 53770 005940 CMP #160 005960 BCC ZN 005980 .9 JMP SRT 006000 V0 INC $6AE 006020 ZN LDA #90 with the lack of source code comments, it first checks the number of special targets hit ($6AC) is less than 2 (which it isnt at the start of the game) then subsequent check is if you have reached the target number required ($6C7) then you get the final battle so for the .xex file in Altirra - before... Emkay Blue Max final battle hack.zip
  8. replying to my own post in case anyone else is interested in this.. using Altirra debugger it seems as you play the game the number of special targets you hit is stored in $06AC so using the built in cheater function, set $06AC to a high number such as $60 and start the game you go straight to the final battle and if you manage to hit the 3 targets then the next runway will be flashing green and you win the game next step is to patch the ATR...
  9. hi, does anyone have a hex edit that allows you to play just the city or the final battle parts ? thanks,
  10. cheers!, it was the Micro GraphicImage version I struggled with and wasted a lot of time on. Couldnt get past the title screen - http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-spelunker_20402.html I might have to go and see if I still have the orginal disk somewhere...
  11. awesome work :) are you going to upload Spelunker please as the protection on that one defeated me in the long distant past...
  12. that unzips fine thanks for that
  13. I cant extract the 3.1 version as it says the zip file is corrupt with CRC error, please could you try attaching it again I see here that 4.1 is the latest version - https://sourceforge.net/projects/atari800/files/atari800/, but no Android apk
  14. tried this on my nvidia shield as well as colleen and it too works fine I do like the save/load states Both seem equally good as each other, I might need to play a lot more blue max to give them a good workout
  15. finally got colleen hack 3 loaded onto my nvidia shield and seems to be working fine with a ps4 controller I'm having to use the 'mouse toggle' app to be able to press top right to get the start;select;options keyboard overlay and also the menu to insert disks It would be nice to be able to map some of the ps4 buttons to start key etc...
  16. another shameless bump, found another interesting magazine whilst clearing out old stuff Adventure International Software Catalog featuring DISKEY by Sparky Starks with Scott Adams seal of approval
  17. yea I'm a different emkay, just an unfortunate coincidence with similar forum names whilst we are reminiscing about old times, as a kid I used to get dragged along to the to the Lee Valley Atari users group whilst the oldies swapped games good to see this thread still has some legs, I'll give it a shameless bump
  18. just clearing out some old magazines, I didn't realise Maplins in the UK were Atari resellers check out some of the prices ! (attached)
  19. nah, unless you are thinking of someone with a similar name
  20. danielcg, I've switched over to the CBS version of the ROM as well, good work on the different addresses, not sure why they changed them ? I don't think the kbyte ATR version works correctly, probably a bit of left over copy protection ? The CBS rom doesn't have these 2 issues
  21. not sure where my reply went, let me try again... yup I agree, $65F is the level timer at the start of a level the code at $AAC8 sets the value to $4D during the level, code at $BB87 decrements it (CE 5F 06 : DEC $065F) code at $A233 checks for when it reaches 2 and ends the level so to cheat - Cheat -> Cheater... -> Add... -> Address $065F -> Value $4D -> OK -> OK if you want to patch your own image rather than use Altirra cheat mode - infinite lives - search for EE 60 06 and change to EA EA EA infinite time - search for CE 5F 06 and change to EA EA EA I'm now on level 8
  22. right I've been playing with the built in debugger in Altirra and the k-razy shoot-out rom in the Atari 800 best game pack I've stepped through the code and the address that holds the number of lives is $0660 Starts off at zero and then increments every time you loose a life If you unassemble the code at $A201, you can see where it checks the number of lives is reached and ends the game press F8 whilst the game is running to enter the debugger, type U A201 - A201: AD 60 06 LDA $0660 [$0660] = $00 A204: C9 03 CMP #$03 A206: F0 32 BEQ $A23A So, for infinite lives - Cheat -> Cheater... -> Add... -> Address $0660 -> Value $00 -> OK -> OK I still can't get past level 7 though, the time runs out before I can kill enough robots
  23. I can't get past level 7, either in the distant past or present day. Has anyone completed this ? I'd like to think it does have an ending rather than just getting faster and more impossible. Does anyone have an patched copy with infinite lives or collision detection disabled ? cheers!
  24. any chance of adding my favourite ?, I wasted a lot of time playing this one... http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-pathfinder_3900.html
