Here is my review of Pole Position II for 7800. Hope anyone here who has the time enjoys it! Please let me know what you think. I teach journalism and majored in mass comm back in college. I'm doing these because I love gaming and I wanted to have some sample videos to teach my students and my son the basics of video editing.

I will on the next one; I already epoxied this one.
The supercart pcb was a Donkey Kong . I think Commando, BallBlazer, One on One and a few others are also on this pcb. Basically I think its the Pokey games. -
Just got a tracking number for mine!

I have tested the following. All NTSC that I am aware of. Other than Freeway once, and Dragster...all the others did not work. I plugged the Genesis 6 button controller in after I loaded a game. Still did not work. I booted up Dragster but I am terrible at the game.
Realsports Boxing
Star Wars Arcade
Miner
Miner II
Dragster(loaded)
Freeway(worked once)
Robot Tank
Spider Fighter
Decathalon
Popeye
Death Star Battle
Super Cobra
Tutankham
No Star Wars, Popeye, or Tutankham? Sadness.

Got mine this morning and wanted to say THANK YOU! Love the cart shells and the controller is outstanding! I'll definitely be ordering more to have spares when friends come over. The buttons and pads have really great action on them and it is the best feeling controller for the 7800 I have.
The cart shells also look great and assembles easy. My loose 2600 Mouse Trap pcb went in easy and my 7800 Centipede has a new home.
My only question about the cart shell is the two screw holes near the label end keep 7800 Supercart pcbs from fitting. If the screw wells/basins were shorter the pcb could still fit if the user left those two screws out. Is that change practical, or would it cause other problems?
-
So I have a Frogger with no cart shell. Is there a cart shell that Parker Bros games will fit into other than the original? I have a dead PB game, but I know those things are glued together and I dont want to mess with it.
Ideas?
Can I dremil a little off the pcb safely?

I'm going through my collection for the labels most messed up or missing. Do you do 2600 as well? I really prefer the 84 look.
-
Yeah, I prefer real hardware when possible; some games capture better than others because graphics based on crt interlacing. PPIIs lanes and road bumpers definitely stand out on a capture card. Eventually, Ill get a Framemeister or something like it.
Right now its S-video through a Diamond capture device.

Hope posting this is ok. Just thought I'd share a youtube video I made with my kids today. My son wants to be a filmmaker and I'm using that as an excuse to play 7800 while I teach him the basics. The twins also got involved.
Hope everyone is having a terrific weekend! I plan on going through the library and doing reviews of each 7800 title; today was supposed to be Pole Position II, but my kids weren't having it. I'll have to start working on that during their nap-time going forward.

That is how my Asteroids looks on an HDTV. Looks fine on a crt. Not your cart or system; just how many lcds handle that game. Im guessing youre on an lcd anyway; if not, that is freaky.

Those are pretty! Sad I missed the first set.

Ordered one this week. Cant wait to give it a spin!
I know this is a bizarre question, have you ever considered a player 1 and 2 in one pad design? Games like Robotron and Indiana Jones would be so much better on a twin stick design, Ive always wanted to see a Virtual Boy pad controller wired to the player one and two ports for the games that required a setup like that.
I know, its silly, but a guy can dream.

Great work! He does top notch work. Great communication, he makes time to show what he is doing and walk you through the mod. He is just a great guy. Dont think twice about doing business with him! He is one of the good ones!

I did this, too, because I wanted to output my NES to my little AIWA bookshelf stereo (those things were super popular in the early 90s). I used to listen to homemade game soundtracks I would record from the games' sound test screens.
I used to play my Sega CD and Saturn games in my car CD player.
Blue Skies (Daytona) whilst delivering the pizza.-

Came on here just to say that I'm really glad I found this project. A bit latter than I wish I did, but as an owner of a Baby Pac machine myself, I support the eventual completion of this project.
You own one! Lucky! How much maintenance is that thing if you don't mind me asking. My Pac-Man cab still sings like a bird but I've repaired my board twice and the monitor is a time bomb waiting to die.

I remember getting buddies together and playing Four Swords on five tvs with five Gamecubes, four Gameboy Players, and a LOT of link cables. One of us was stuck on the "Elvis" TV, an old black and white 13" with a bullet hole just above the monitor. I picked it up at a Catholic school yard sale for a quarter! I thought the bullet hole gave it charm.

So what do you use in a way not intended by manufacturer? SEGA pad on an Atari? Atari as a lamp? Let's share pics and stories. I know I have a box full of wires and stuff I use to accomplish odd compatibilities.
My favorite arcade sticks are my Tatsunoko VS. Capcom sticks for the Wii. Granted, there is not a lot of use in a Wii only arcade stick. So I bought this on Amazon.
It was glitchy and switched player 1 and 2 depending on what it was connected to. It really didn't like OpenEmu at all.
So I remembered I bought this thing for my SNES mini.
Not a great pad, but that adapter it came with allowed it to work on Windows etc. The adapter... that was in essence... a Wii/USB adapter. Hmmm.
Yup. Now me in business. I can finally use my modded Wii sticks (upgraded buttons and sticks) on my Mac and Retro Freak and TBD. A keyboard mapper later and pinball is a go. Yes I keep an extra monitor connected and turned sideways at all times to play pinball.

Yes I know Macs can read a Wiimote, but batteries, holding a pointless Wiimote connected to a stick, and lag presses too many of my OCD buttons.
So what about you all? Any creative uses for the Power Pad? Track and Field controller? ROB the robot?

Hey guys. Just some quick links about ball control and techniques that pinheads use that would make Baby stand out from other 8 bit pins.
Dead bounce:
Live catch:
Drop catch:
Post pass: (I use this all of the time on Medieval Madness; it is a lifesaver!)
I know everyone has ideas and opinions, but I wanted to share my thoughts on control schemes. Bob, if you like it, hey great; if not no biggie. Just wanted to share my thoughts. I really think this game would sing on a twin stick setup with the 7800 Pro Line coupler or a SEGA pad through a 7800 adapter.
It looks amazing by the way. I loaded it up on my mac and just stared at your playfield for the pin part. The Pac part totally kicked my butt btw!
