  1. Defender - Yeah, Im pretty sure this is going to be in fat mode, but that is out of my hands. Im just the slacker designer. To get the colors we want onscreen Im pretty sure we are stuck with fat mode. I thought about cutting pixels to accommodate the stretch, but I lost to much expression in my characters.

Shawn - me too. But one does not rush the programmer! Jk. Im not sure if he is going to be interested in sharing until its near complete. Which I understand. At first we were not going to even announce the game until it was done, but Im a blabber mouth.

When someone drops all that crazy Atari money on my doorstep, Ill quit my day job and me and my partner will get er done. Nobody wants this done and playable and in a pink cartridge more than me! :)

Thanks for the feedback guys! I hope everyone is doing well. So many cool things going on here while I was gone. Im glad to see Curt back; is PmP still around?

  2. I just recently returned to the forums... will be ordering this! Them are some purty controllers.

Now my dream controller for 7800/2600 would be a modified version of the Virtual Boy controller that acts as player 1 and 2 for games like Robotron, Indiana Jones and any other game that required players to reach for player 2 controller.

  3. Just some tile work for the game. The cosplayers in the dance hall won't be there in the final game. Copyright :) but wanted to share the joy. The goose that lays the golden egg is my spin on the Mario coin heaven. Mega Man II fans will see my inspiration for the lava bridge scene once it is done.

    Hope everyone is well!

  4. This game's spritework reminds me of Rainbow Islands, and the cat reminds me of Tiny Toons' Furball. (In a good way.)

LOL! I was going for Sylvester, but working in 12x16 that is what happens! One of my students was peeking over my shoulder and said the same thing! His napping frames I hope really show his Sylvester influence. One day I want to see a Balloon Fight clone with my jet pack cat.

Now I want to put a Baby Plucky in the game that says, "No you turn, is my turn. I push the button."

  5. The game looks great, and I have to give it credit for the greatest game title...

    Dream Princess Adventure

Love it, love it, love it...

I hope you are going for a pink cart for it one day!!

I like the pink cart idea. I'm leaning into my Japanese design influences. I'd love box art that would look right at home next to Parodius with a pink cart! I'd love to see a super deformed homage to the original Super Mario Bros. Famicom cart artwork.

Just started working in Pyxel Edit to start laying out the levels recently now that the graphical assets are pretty solid. I'd show more, but I want to avoid spoiling hidden areas and other goodies. When I get farther along I may share a censored map. If I can do that without ruining a lot of the exploration.

  6. I'm glad to see your back too Steve, you're a good coder and I hope to see your work shine in some XM capable games in the future.

LOL! It has been a while! Just in case... I’m Vic! No Steve better take my XM, but if he’s ahead of me in line, I’ll take his! . I’m hoping some of my graphics get put to good use on the XM at some point! Speaking of which... back to Pyxel Edit. I thought I’d never find a good tool for Mac!

  7. Curt! Great stuff all around! Ive just recently started popping back in. Is your website going to have a change of address form? Mine changed by one digit! I also dont have the email I used back then, but I still know it if you need it for verification.

Those boards are looking pretty! I am so glad youre back!

  8. Thanks Jinks. I appreciate that and I know my partner will make this a worthwhile project. I guess I should take it as a compliment that some folks find me interesting enough to take shots. I appreciate ya'lls patience. Being a full time dad and teacher takes a lot, but I have fond memories of the 7800 and really want to be part of a project that folks enjoy. Hoping to get the layout and notes to my programmer soon so he can take over. Then I'll shift to title screen and strategy guide work.

  9. Well I'm sorry. I'm spending my time so I guess I'll make the game I want to. Sounds like something you should take up with Nintendo, not a hobbyist spending his free time. Thanks for thread crapping though. Shooters, sports, and racing games have been around forever too. Go ask EA when a WNBA title is coming.

Shantae, Metroid, Code of Princess, and Super Princess Peach were great games, support those titles by buying them, not by pestering hobbyists. I'm just a guy working on a game I want to play.

  10. Well, if the part I was doing is easy there would be less crap games in the world. ;) I look at it this way; we all do what we're good at or what is easy to us. I teach graphic design and layout, so I hope my attention to detail shows.

My programmer is from the outside, but is like me, trying to free up time to get back on target.

  11. Thanks guys. The pixel work is really done. Just working on level layouts. Other than that, the buck is passed to the programmer. I really want to play this also. I hid a picture of my son in the background; guess I'll need to add my twin daughters too. :) I'm hoping to finish up level designs by spring and then work on title screen layout and then box art. I'm thinking something between Shantae visually and Teen Titans Go in terms of cheekiness for an instruction book and an homage to nes black/silver box art for the packaging/label. I always wanted to see a Zelda cart for the 7800.

  12. I appreciate what everyone here does. I love having the homebrews and various other projects in my collection. The label art on some of these carts just blow me away.

Saying that, I do like the idea of an SD cart so I take my system to school to show my students or a friend's house without dragging half my collection with me. Of course, I am very fond of my Anniversary multicart as well and the PMP collection. I have one of the moody 7800s that don't play everything properly, (Berzerk VE doesn't work at all and the PMP collection goes straight to Scramble) but that is why I have two 7800s.

I absolutley see devs' frustrations. Working so hard to see only a few copies move. It is probably felt more here on the 7800 since the fanbase is smaller than the NES or even the VCS.

Hmm... not sure if I had a point.

  13. Hey guys and gals!

So is there a list of folks who currently provide repair and mod services?

Would it be useful to pin a post that lists those who offer those services and some brief feedback?

I am looking to get my Vader modded and repaired, but the top hits on google haven't responded to email, so I'm wondering if they're stilll active.

    Hope everyone is well!
