Scramble is awesome! If Bob had been hammering them out back then the console scene would have been very different no doubt! Chetiry looks amazing for the 2600! I'd love to see a 2 player version on the 7800 maybe similar in style to Nintendo's Tetris DS but with Atari mascots littered about.

In terms of mod fodder, what controllers would make a good 2 player twin pad for Robotron? I get tired of holding two seperate pads at once to play my favorite game and saw a pic of a Virtual Boy pad that gave me ideas for a two player switch hitter setup that would be ideal for Robotron. Player one would be the left pad and right buttons and player 2 would be the right pad and left buttons. I'd swap the buttons so there would be a red and grey button on each side and put a pretty 7800/Robotron decal on the center and the button surfaces. Of course it would have to plug up to player one and two ports of the 78 so two cords would come out of the top... maybe button 1 and two could flip based on the slider on the controller's surface? What do you guys think? Any other controllers out there seem like a fit for this particular niche? X Arcades are too big for my office and I was thinking small easily hand held solutions.

Kool-Aid Man, Othello, and Joust. Three of my faves. Trying to memorizethe waves on Kool-Aid Man, they don't seem to be randomized.

I always use 2 Sega pads for Robotron. Yesterday I hit wave 55 and scored 1,500,000+. Super Circus Atari and Scramble are great also... You can play Super Circus Atari with paddles or sticks. It isn't in the store, but you could ask PMP if he still has any sitting around.

Al do you need gameplay vids of Scramble, Rip Off, or Moon Cresta? I have an svid/comp vidcap box for my mac. I could probably get those to you by Tuesday or Wednesday. I'd do more, but I already have those. If you ever want me to do a set of vids, I work cheap!

Considering the origins of Commando, I'm surprised 1942, Ghouls N Ghosts, or Mega Man didn't happen. Going backwards, Zookeeper, Crystal Castles, and Spy Hunter would seem a good fit. Peter Gunn would sound great on an XM I bet. From that era I also think Sega's Turbo deserves some love. Now, my favorite and most ignored classic, an Atari arcade release...... STAR WARS!!!!!! I loved the C64 version and a pokey/XM version would rock! This is fun, but it makes me want to go arcade cab hunting.

Hi kennetzel! That was a great story! Man, retailers could be some scary liars! Be sure and check out some of the new games around and other goodies the community comes up with! Dungeon is awesome and even though they're for the 7800, Ax's nes pads and Advantage sticks work great on a 2600. Berzerk VE is cool too. Flashbacks are cool, but you might get a cheap original to have modded for rca/svid. I have one in the family room that I just run through a vcr with a rca/coax adapter that outputs great on a modern lcd. Welcome again!

Just get Ax to build you a set of 7800 Nes pads. They are awesome! Look up his thread in the marketplace.... can't reccomend his work enough. The nes pads make the 7800 feel like a completely different system.

I still play that game a few times a month! Tap against walls to look for fake walls on each level after 4 IIRC. The fake walls don't move, but the items needed to get past the fire do move each game. The dragon's tooth, a chalice, and the sword move around as well as the princess herself. Save the sword's special attacks for the black knight or what comes aft the fire. Good luck! Get both endings for fun!

Awesome timing!!!! I get paid tomorrow!!!! Seriously, I know it has to be a tremendous undertaking, so thanks Al! AA rocks and reading the forums is always a highlight of my day.

Work In Progress: "Bentley Bear: Crystal Quest"
gorfcadet replied to PacManPlus's topic in Atari 7800
Mario had unlimited continues. Hold A button when pressing start. I don't think I ever used it after the age of 10, but it was there. I think the difference in BB and SMB is the difference in reactionary gameplay and memorization intensive reactionary play. SMB isn't to intense that a good player can't compensate for new patterns and situations, BB does require a bit of memorization to compensate for mid jump situations and quick enemies. In that way it gives me a Ghouls and Ghosts like experience where I end up playing tiny segments repeatedly to perfect my approach to that area. Not a knock btw.. I love games like GnG. That was just my take to it... very much an Adventure Island style game with GnG undertones in terms of difficulty. Very excited to play it on a cart on my actual tv! -
keilbaca, you talking about the brown namco stick with yellow buttons and ball top stick? I have that one and it is very nice. slowcoder, yep. I have the h6 in my comicbook/toy room and the 4SW in the bedroom. The 7800 is in the toy room also. I prefer the 2600s for those games for the cleaner picture signal.

Sega Dreamcast console - $15.99 shipped o.b.o.
gorfcadet replied to dafivehole's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
If it resets I would just open it up and clean the pins on the power supply. Maybe bend them into the connection alittle bit. Thats all it took for my black Sega Sports model DC and I haven't had a problem since. If its just powering off, its probably a cap, but I'd still keep it for parts. -
Doing the happy dance as we speak!

My question is: does anyone own the heavy 4 switch woody? Certainly they didn't have photoshop that far back! -
I'm in for a cart if you do that. That is great work... amazing sound for Atari btw.

How to connect the 2600 to a TV that only has HDMI inputs?
gorfcadet replied to tremoloman2006's topic in Atari 2600
The component input usually doubles as a composite input through the green input I believe so just hook the yellow connector to the green from your vcr. -
Sega CD/32X/GENESIS Power Upgrade (NO MORE WALL WARTS!)
gorfcadet replied to the.golden.ax's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Just to add.... Bought one last month from AX and it is the bomb! Ok, I don't think anyone still says "the bomb" anymore, but all you hep cats know what I'm sayin'. Great modder to any newbies if you have a Sega you still use, you NEED this. No more Christmas Vacation moments with the power strips and surge protectors. My SegaCD/32X is plugged up with my my PS3, xbox, tv, dvr, and alarm clock one one power strip. Thanks again sir!
