Yeah I agree the originals persist and will forever. What I meant was the 6502 was the CPU in the whole 8-Bit range and thus when you change that its no longer part of the 8-Bit range any longer.
-
For me once you alter the CPU or the custom chips that made the machine what it was from a functional perspective then its no longer that machine I remember. It is instead a different machine. I guess my analogy does not work for the ST > STE or maybe the Amiga OCS > ECS > AGA but somehow that seems different to me for some reason.

Actually, I'm talking complete bollocks, it's not John Ritman who worked at Imagine but John Gibson. Doh!
-
John Ritman was at Imagine when Bandersnatch was being developed so Im sure thats a reference. Hes in the BBC documentary that shows the collapse of Imagine and is well worth a watch;

To be honest that suits me fine I like the idea of this if it was a "game", but when I'm watching TV / Films I want a story as told by the writers of the piece not by me having to interact with it. The whole myth of "Bandersnatch" (and Pysclapse for that matter) are so intertwined in my memories growing up in 80s UK that I'd rather have a straight story using is as the contact point for the era. I'll probably download that "default" version, watch it and then maybe go try the interactive version later.
-
Sounds great. I assume the download for the new version is on the AtariMax site somewhere is it?
-
Not that it was in the Atari 8-Bit but SkyKid is the first game I think of for Right-to-Left scrolling games. Great game as well; Arcade Version; NES Version;
-
Ive definitely got Multiboot menu disks with games like that, cant remember what titles off the top of my head though.

Yeah it works like a dream on my Sony EX320 LCD circa 2011.

New version of ATARI 8 bit emulator released!

That tile mode is amazing, looks amazing when a ton of stuff it up and running I'd quite like to be able to open to nothing and then I'll select what I want to do, so I deleted the DOS25.XFD file in the Xformer10 folder and tried to run and the thing hangs before quiting, not ideal. -
I didn't know or have long forgotten that Microdeal made Atari 8-Bit games! I was a Dragon 32 user (that my Dad bought) before I bought my 130XE in late '86. Microdeal were a massive supplier of games for the Dragon platform so I had a ton of their games.

I'm all for using the latest stuff to improve the experience but not at the expense of seemingly pressuring people to feel guilty about the choices that are made in the creation of something.
-
Exactly this. It's Stunt Car Racer running on an Atari 8-Bit! A truely exceptional bit of work that I'd have not believed true if i hadn't actually played it. The slow loading time almost adds gravitas and excitement to it.

Basically the software would supposedly see the USB Blaster but any attempt to use it would either hang the software for ages or I'd get a BSoD (the only time I've ever seen it on Windows 10). It's interesting about the FTDI conflicts as I do have an AtariMax SIO2USB plugged in so I'll try unplugging that and see if it helps. Yeah it's in my 800XL which is powered on.

Has anyone successfully upgraded their Sofia to the latest code so they get the right text colour? I can't get the Quartus software (16. Something, which seems really flakey) and my USB Blaster to work at all. If there is anyone in the U.K. that has done if would you offer to do mine if I posted it?

Mini Office II did me a couple of years worth of college assignments. It had a great word processor. Used that and The Print Shop for the cover pages.

Amazing stuff!

I thought there was an abundance of POKEY chips due to the fact the arcade machines also used them. Although thinking about it the volumes of arcade machine were never huge I guess.

Anyone else use Defender Demo mode to test system (stress test)?

1st day I got my 130XE I thought I'd bust my spacebar playing Dropzone. Luckily it had just unclipped itself. Boy was I relieved!! -
My god what a bunch muppets, this thread should be a celebration, not a bleeding flame war.
-
That's not the point I was making. Sure, feel free to copy old software and pass it around, but to profit from it is a whole different matter. Anyone could download the entire 8Bit software literary and start selling a DVDR on eBay with it all on. That in my mind is not on.
-
How is it legit if he's selling copyrighted software with the cart though? I know Nir is a respected Atarian but that is technically illegal as far as I know. It's no different from selling a CDR with the top 10 albums in MP3 format.

Ah Petaluma, the only reason I've heard it is because that's where Leo Laporte runs his Netcasting business https://twit.tvfrom.

@myteckcontrols/Mtchael Good story, pity about the ending. Kids should be taught to question things, how else does the world progress. What was the false thing the teacher was telling you btw and what country was this in?
-
Yup I got my 130XE in Dec 86 and started college (City and Guilds and then a Diploma) in Sept 87. Did every assignment on it using the Mini Office II word processor and my Dad's Citizen 120D dot matrix printer. Then I got an ST in Nov 89 and carried on with 1st Word Plus using the same printer until I completed my HNC in 92. Just as well really as my handwriting is atrocious!!
