  1. I bought my 130XE for £99 and 1050 for £129 in Nov 1986 in the U.K. from Silica Shop.
  2. I love Chuckie Egg, although never a fan of the Atari 8Bit version for some reason. I think it's the fake 3D look of the platforms which makes judging the jumps a little tricky. But also because I played it to death on my Dragon 32 and so when I got my Atari 130 XE in late 1986 it just didn't feel the same. That's just me though, well done programming both it and the C64 versions SeanT. I'm curious though how much input AnF software had into what you did for them?
  3. That's great, looks and sounds lovely!
  4. I'm curious, what sort of costs do you charge? I've an 800XL that needs stuff doing but I'm not confident in unsoldering chips really.
  5. I'd love a better connector as my keyboard is less than reliable when stick that ribbon cable in. As an aside, can I literally just slice a section of the ribbon off in the hope it improves the connection?
  6. So I assume the XL works fine without the modulator in then?
  7. Just tried this out and it did not detect the Sophia board in my PAL 800XL.
  8. What's that Atari Control Picture program?
  9. Makes you wonder what the difference is between them!
  10. Can you give us a download link for this? Also what OSs does it work with, I'm sure someone on here said you need v16 if using Windows 10.
  11. My friend got his 400 (then a replacement 800 very soon after) in the 1st Era (I want to say 82/83), he was the reason I bought my Atari in the 2nd era (Dec 86 from Silica Shop; The 130XE was £99 and 1050 was £129.99). I met my now best friend at College in Sep 86, and he had an 800XL (and 1050) which I assume came from Dixons in about 84/85. There's no doubt it was a much smaller user base, but I was so happy that I wasn't using the Dragon 32 my Dad bought in Dec 82 it didn't matter.
  12. Yeah, I reckon I'll have to buy another, thing is where do you go to find a "proper" one exactly?
  13. Doh! So I go to have a look at doing this and realise that neither my MMU or OS ROM are socketed. Looks like I'll need to order some sockets then. Can someone confirm if the 20 Pin Narrow and 28 Pin Wide options on this eBay listing are what I need please.
  14. Because I was trying to figure out if the USB Blaster was working or not, which clearly it wasn't. The debugger runs from the Quartus Prime program to help you diagnose problem. To be honest though all the software seems really flakey for some reason.
  15. No, it crashes running the Jtag Debugger or says something about the clock timing being invalid if run one of the diag tests in it. I suspect the USB Blaster is trash, I mean it cost peanuts off eBay so it wouldn't surprise me.
  16. It's female. So this afternoon I tried to connect up my USB Blaster to the Sophia. Seemingly though either the Quartus Prime software (this is 16.1 Lite) is just flakey as hell or the USB Blaster itself it, because either the software just hangs or Windows 10 crashes. I've had Windows 10 on this PC for ages and never seen the new BSoD, today I saw it about 10 times. I assume others don't experience these problems. What I PITA
  17. So you press the cable into the connector rather than the other way round then? I'll give it a go at the weekend then, I had a quick look earlier but wasn't sure it was that simple.
  18. I need to do this too, what crimping tool did you use?
  19. So the Atari actually ON when you reprogram it? Sounds dangerous somehow even though clearly it's not. I've got all the bits now so will be trying it in the next few days.
  20. Thanks, I just need to get a connector sorted out. Not sure who sells those in the UK, will have a look on eBay later.
  21. I've just ordered a USB Blaster off eBay, they are so cheap! But what software do I need to use for this purpose?
  22. Yeah I'd really like to get the colour palette looking correct.
  23. Ah that's very interesting I have exactly this issue on my 800XL although it comes and goes. I'll have to have a look to see if this fixes it for good.
