  1. I've definitley got Climax and VanHalen, but I'm sure I've got others no one else has mentioned Easy Lover (Phil Collins) is one. I'll have to have a look at my ATRs when I get a moment
  2. Haha, yes of course I did. Never not signed one since, although I've not written a cheque for years I wasn't in Bedford at the time (I was in East Yorkshire, about 10 miles from Hull). I didn't move here until summer 1989.
  3. I still have my 130XE and 1050 that I bought new in Dec 1986 mail order from Silica shop in the UK (prices at the time 130XE - £99, 1050 - £129). I was sixteen at the time and when I posted the order I wrote my first ever cheque to pay for it. A few days later the cheque came back, I forgot to sign it!! I also still have my 520STFM from Oct 1989, can't remember where I got that from or what I paid for that though.
  4. New Episode is out (no. 10) It weighs in at nearly 3 hours, so it's going to take a while to get through!
  5. The latest episode is great. Curt sure can talk, i could listen to him all day talk about Atari stuff
  6. Well I've successfully fitted the 2nd belt and it fitted fine and once I'd tweaked the VR2 speed pot a bit the drive is in perfect working order. Not bad for having been sat unused for 25 years. So I'm guessing I just hadn't seated the 1st belt correctly, there's no way I'm taking the working one out to test that theory though :-) Thanks for all the helpful posts.
  7. Hmm, just measured the 2nd belt I got and it would appear to be about the 12.2inches suggested. So I'll give that a go and see how it goes.
  8. In 1989 I tried a rubber band, it didn't work and I found the brittle remains in there last night when I tried fitting this replacement. From memory the band I used was too tight and I could get the RPM to the required speed.
  9. You probably could, but I wasn't really expecting this to be that type of a job :-)
  10. Thanks for the information. I'll contact Best and see what they say.
  11. Hey all, I've just received some new Tandon mech drive belts from Best Electronics in the hope of getting my old 1050 drive up and working. The original belt failed in 1989 and I've used a friends 1050 every since. The problem is the belts I've gotten seem too long (see pictures). Anyone know what length they need to be? Perhaps these are for a different mech :-/
  12. It certainly supposed to deal with copy protection but I'm not aware of it's ability to deal with corrupted media.
  13. For reference I used it extensively in the UK for copying budge tape games to disk during 1988 and 1989.
  14. Have you looked at TransDisk IV at all. It sounds like it does all the tape to disk processing you want; http://www.page6.org/pd_lib/page6/pd_transdisk.htm
  15. It works great with APE using Mirror Mode, thanks for the help
  16. It's from the Tritone thread on here. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/212810-tritone-gtia-beeper-engine/
  17. Thank. It sounds like a non-starter on a real machine then, as I don't have that kind of knowledge.
  18. I guess no one knows how to do this then :-/
  19. Thanks for the info. My only other issue would be that my ST and PC are far away from my router. I wonder if a crossover network cable between the two would work?
  20. @russg Sorry, didn't mean suggest that no one would want that. I'm just surprised there are users without access to a better alternative to tapes. I think my experience of tapes for the Atari means I would not wish them on anyone
  21. I used to use an application called TransDisk to copy tapes to disk (I have an ATR of it). Worked like a charm on every game I tried. Not sure about the other way round though, I can't see why you'd ever want to in this day and age.
  22. Presumably you can use FTP to take files from the ST to your PC can you? And if so what software do you need on the ST for this? I want an easy way to get files off ST floppies that only seem to read on my ST and not on a PC (although I have successfully imaged quite a few that way).
  23. I've finally got the space to setup my 130XE, 1050 and SIO2USB. This setup works fine so thought if try those Tritone demos out on a proper machine rather via Emulation but I can't figure out how to run an OBX file. I thought if I just copied them to a DOS 2.5 disk and used the Load Binary they'd run but it just hangs. Can someone help me?
  24. You have to love the internet, someone asks a simple question and a war starts starts out between other people. Take the feud off of here!
