  1. Hey all, just wondering if someone knew of good Famicom converter to use with the (in)famous clone console. For whatever reason, NES to famicom converters are all over the place, but the opposite is tough to find, and often expensive.
  2. I'll bet they're waiting for CGE2K to bring this one out
  3. Heh, I was a younger one when I first joined AA when I was 13. That was almost eight years ago, and I have since lost the wow factor of a young Atari fan.
  4. Hey all, I will be attending the CCAG in Cleveland this weekend, and one thing I know I wanna grab while I'm out there is a Commodore 64 and a few starter games/accessories (hence the starter kit). I was wondering if any of you out there are going to be there and would also have a C-64 that they'd be willing to part with. Thanks!
  5. As a native of Rochester, NY, I think there should be. I'd be interested in getting together with some folks around here to get something going.

    CCAG

I will be going to this year's CCAG! I'm very excited; it'll be the first show I've been to since Philly Classic 4! I'm really hoping to pick up a Commodore 64 while I'm there

    CCAG

I'd love to be able to make it out to this, but we'll see what actually happens...

    Dolphin!

I actually just picked up Dolphin at a used video game store in town. I picked up that one and Fast Eddie; I really should pop 'em in and give 'em a go.
  9. I like it so far. The physics are great, and the scrolling is really effective. However, I think the first level lasts just a bit too long, and that beaver is damn near impossible to get by. Is it possible to get your little drifter to move all around the river, and approach acceleration in a Spy Hunter sort of way?
  10. Absolutely. To me, that is the arcade game to end all arcade games.
  11. Just wondering if there were any of you AAers out there from around Western Ny; I myself am from around Rochester.
  12. This will be really cool. Any idea when we can see it materialized?
  13. damn this Western NY weather...

  15. I think if you were to start getting into adding extra chips and what-not, I think it would defeat the purpose. The point, more or less, is to see what the straight 2600 can do. And it is true that you can go on forever remaking the 2600's arcade ports til the end of time, but after Pac-Man and Space Invaders, Donkey Kong is definitely the most deserving of a makeover.
  16. I for one would love to see a re-done version of DK show up on the 2600. I really am quite surprised that there hasn't been one considering the other games which have received a do-over... I believe that seeing a 2600 playing an accurate version of DK would be to see the machine at it's greatest potential.
  17. My earliest memory of Atari was in the mid to late 90's, when I was about ten. My uncle had a pretty decent 2600 collection and brought it out to show to me. Even at that early age, classic gaming interested me, I suppose because of the simplicity of the games and the fact that I like history. I loved getting to rummage through all the different cartridges, and it was especially exciting to find names that I recognized, like Zaxxon, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong; games which, as far as I knew at the time, only existed on our Tandy 1000 I eventually got my own 2600 when I was thirteen, which was the summer of 2000. The first six games I had were Joust, Berserk, Donkey Kong Jr., Asteroids, Ms. Pac-Man, and Centipede. Good times
  18. This is looking really good so far. I don't mind the falling off the screen killing you thing, though it would be helpful to have control over the speed in which the panda moves. However, I don't know how that would be comfortably implemented into a joystick with only one button.
  19. Hot dang! My guess would be that you're the one designing the label
  20. Really cool video. I listened to it at work today
  21. To reiterate what Stan Jr. posted, any chance of getting a release of this on cart? Amazing game, btw.
  22. Oh awesome. I have been counting the days. The instant I get some disposable income it is going into that store.
  23. I'm about to turn 22 myself, but I started collecting Atari 2600 (along with various other classic consoles) when I was 13. I bought my 2600 from Best Electronics in the summer of 2000
  24. hoo boy, has it been a while since I last posted Anyway, if you put an experinced programmer who is determined to make a fun, playble game out of the Super Mario Bros. idea, I'd absolutely LOVE to see that. But if I couldn't chose that, I'd have to say Mike Tyson's Punch-out, one of my NES favs.
  25. Another favorite I've found among women is Duck Hunt But yes, Frogger does seem to be the top choice
