  1. Got dayum, I love shooters! Is the plan for this to become a physical cart? 'Cause if so:
  2. Thanks, Al. We know you're working as hard as you can.
  3. Still waiting here too. Oh well.
  4. Man, I *love* when unqualified people play lawyer on the internet, especially on a topic as specialized and nuanced as intellectual property rights and claimed infringement. Clearly I should have saved three years of my life and far too much money and just gotten my degree from Google U. and Reddit threads. With the disclaimer that this post does not constitute legal advice, and nothing I say may be construed to create an attorney-client relationship, folks please: leave the legal analysis to people with licenses to practice law.
  5. I can’t speak to use with Sophia, but there’s nothing special necessary to connect to an SC1224 other than a compatible 13-pin cable.
  6. A bare R&V “ROM” isn’t usable on hardware as-is - it needs to be in .A78 format along with all the necessary sound files. There’s an entire thread about a dead simple tool to just that, and instructions in the 7800GD forum.
  7. Holy necrobumps, Batman! You've bumped one thread that's almost 11 years old, and this one that's 13-1/2 years old. 👀

What? 7800GD is the newest of the bunch and still actively sold.
  9. Skill issue. You need to be running to make the jump, I think.
  10. Wow, this looks and sounds great in A7800. I would love to play a full game version of this. PHOENIX is a vastly under-rated shooter, one of the first ones with a boss level.
  11. My cash (“spare” and otherwise) was the $1,600 we had to spend last week on a new refrigerator when the compressor on our old one gave up the ghost. Wasn’t worth the cost of fixing it given parts availability, the fact that a couple of the door shelves had cracked over the years, etc. A week before THAT, I had just dropped $500+ on a new set of HOTAS controllers for my gaming PC to use with DCS World, so no money for new retro toys. I’m annoyed about the fridge because I really wanted a 400 Mini. Of all the recent era “mini” consoles, that one strikes my fancy way more than most.
  12. There are two threads in the A8 forum about the UAV, both started by @Bryan The first is for the original production Rev C version, and then a separate thread for the improved Rev D. Both of them are filled with info about installing in any number of machines including 400's and 800's. However, I think at this point most 400/800 owners have instead been opting to install a SuperColor board, which incorporates the UAV design into the PCB that replaced the ANTIC/GTIA board in stock machines. Searching the A8 forum for those threads should find them pretty quickly.
  13. Aww, man, that sucks. I hope you feel better soon!
  14. LOL, brother - it’s in the post you quoted. I limited myself to four because I wanted boxed versions. I could have ordered dozens if I hadn’t given myself a budget.
  15. Well, my order from July 7 or so still hasn’t shipped, and that’s only about halfway through the initial Last Chance Sale window. Maybe I’ll have my four carts before spring. Maybe.
  16. It's just 9VDC and pretty low amperage (1A is more than sufficient). So @-^CrossBow^-'s suggestion is the way to go. Cut off the pigtail down near the PSU brick, wire in a new 9VDC PSU to the existing leads and you're golden. Just do note the polarity before you splice the lead to the replacement supply.

    7800 FPGA?

Donkey Kong XM only used the POKEY audio and HSC functions of the planned XM feature set, as far as I know. That’s why Perry was able to make Donkey Kong PK carts with the POKEY onboard the PCB, and why the ROMs for that take advantage of HSC functionality on the 7800GD, for instance.

    7800 FPGA?

Maybe so. Feel free to add me to your block list.

    7800 FPGA?

Yes, I am very well aware of the technical details. I'm just tossing some salt into the "FPGA yes!" "FPGA no!" argument.

    7800 FPGA?

The 7800GD cart basically has the 7800 hardware in its internal FPGA. Just sayin' ...
  21. I bought two of them right before he sold out about 3 years ago.
  22. You guys should ask these questions here: https://forums.atariage.com/forum/417-7800-gamedrive-support/
  23. I'm super glad I nabbed this in the Last Chance Sale finally. Now if only I'd get that elusive shipping notice ...
  24. I have placed maybe half a dozen orders over the years, usually one-off's, and it usually takes 1-2 months. I think others I'm hearing from have placed fewer, or have gotten lucky and Al has been able to be a bit quicker with their orders in the past. I think the Last Chance Sale is totally out of everyone's experience base in terms of wait time, however. I ordered in mid-July, which is over 6 months ago - that's far longer than I've ever had to wait before. And given what you just posted, it looks like I'm likely to be waiting at least another month or so.
  25. I’m starting to see/hear grumbles in the various Atari/retro groups around Facebook from people feeling like they’re never going to see their last chance sale orders. I know Al indicated some time back that he was generally building carts in the order received. It might be nice for people to indicate, when posting about incoming orders, to include when they placed their orders so the rest of us can gauge how much longer we are likely to be waiting.
