      ConTEXT is not currently being updated, that doesn't make it a bad choice, as it's still available.  But at the end of the day you can use quite a number of text editors, I currently use Sublime myself, but that does require a license. Programmer's NotePad has a lot of the required features (and probably more with all it's plugins).
