  1. OK, I guess I'll go first.

The SpiceWare logo reminded me of the Activision logo, so I basically created the box/label for Space Rocks as a homage to the old Activision boxes.

Awesome - I know who to call on when I need box and art labels for my titles! Gets my vote.

  2. Last time i played i think i may had figured out a strategy for Level 7 for getting to the right of the board without having to use a pepper (like let's say you had 1 or 2 buns left over and they happen to be on that side. But i think it would take proper timing and luck.

I will be using this football style play book. :-D

As you can see by the picture below, you should standing about where the white circle is. You should wait there just long enough to lure Hot Dog #2 up and to the side your standing but also just before Pickle #1 comes down the ladder from the top. Enemies 3, 4 & 5 should all head toward you as well in the proper direction. And just before Pickle #1 comes down you make a circle around and down represented by the white line shown. If done correctly all enemies should follow you down and you can head to the right side of the board safely. :)

key to board 7 is hoarding livesand peppers before getting there. Minimum i've ever cleared it or board 14 is about 2 lives and 2 peppers (usually in a good game, you'll have accumulated many more men than peppers, so sacrifice them before peppers.

(I'll refer to platforms via #s, from left to right, then from bottom to top, so 1.5 would be the top left where the pickle starts out)

Hot dog comes out at the left side, 'level' 2 (1.2). best way to start is go up the ladder from 2.1 to 2.2, go left and edge onto 1.4 so the bottom left hot dog goes left on 1.1, and that the hot dog from the right goes *up* from 3.3 to 2.3 and not down to 2.2. That allows you to slip back down past 2.2 back to 2.1 before the hotdog comes back from 1.1, and drop him on the 1.1 ingredient. Keep moving right and you now have all ingredients following you from behind and for a little while at least won't get trapped from both directions while you do some damage getting those upper ingredients lower. It also gets you the chance to be near the ketchup when it first appears

Thank you both for the tips I will have another go after work. Burger Time stage 7 strategies are an art all to themselves :)

  3. I have made some progress on this now, and have released an update on my web site here: http://www.electrica...tridge-releases

To summarize the article, I am planning to release three different cartridges each for Colecovision, MSX and Sega SC-3000/SG-1000 (in that order). The Colecovision versions will be released first through one of the existing publishers, followed by MSX and then Sega. The MSX and Sega releases will depend on how I go tracking down the cartridge cases (circuit boards & chips are not a problem).

I am having a go at redoing the sounds effects and music for the games, although if anyone was willing to make any offers in that department they would not be refused, as music has never really been my thing - love listening to it, just not very good at making it.

I do need to start working out the artwork for the packaging etc shortly too, I have Black & White artwork from the original releases that I will be using as the basis for new colour artwork.

I'll try and post regular updates to my web site and to here from now one. Any questions please feel free to ask :)

  4. I like others have a spare non-functional Colecovision, that a new PCB could bring back to life.

I agree with most of the common suggestions as follows:

    1. Must fit in a current Colecovision case

    2. Must be under $100 to succeed

    3. Either has the SGM on board and/or preserves the front expansion port

    4. Use standard power supply (use 12V 1amp common power supply (available in any country) with components internally to produce +5V/-5V lines from this

    5. Must be 100% compatible with existing software

    6. Some extensions would be nice, but not at the expense of any of the 1st 5 items

    7. It would also be nice to have a source of replacement controllers.

Note: As long as it uses a standard 12V 1Amp input the video output over AV will be fine to be 60Hz as that will work on modern screens worldwide.

  5. Im up for any of them, especially the Space Invaders style stuff.

Where is this Cavern Fighter game everyone is talking about?

If you do decide to do this, its a bit late for this year, but next year, I could help spread the word at the CCAG in Cleveland, OH:

    www.ccagshow.com

There's a lot of Colecoids there.

There is a description on my site http://www.electricadventures.net, including a link to a YouTube video on it as well.

It will be a bit later in the year as I have Windows 8 commitments, so won't be starting in earnest until July.

  6. Thanks for the responses so far guys, sounds like some more home brew would be welcome enough for me to give it a go.

I have some real live deadlines to get past over the next few weeks (Windows 8 launch is coming up), so once I have got those obligations out of the way.

I will probably do a quick convert of a couple of the smaller titles, just to get the techniques right, then work on completing Cavern Fighter.

Especially as that has received the most interest so far.

  7. I wrote a number of commercially released titles for the Spectravideo (and then MSX) machines back in the mid 80's.

The details are detailed on my web site http://www.electricadventures.net.

I am looking at converting one or more of the titles to the Colecovision. Plus I have an almost complete game Cavern Fighter, that I am looking at completing and releasing for the Spectravideo, MSX & Colecovision.

Something that makes this a more acceptable idea is the fact that new cartridge shells may soon be available (reading some of the other threads).

    My question(s) are:

    - Which of my titles (machine code titles - have heaps of BASIC ones too) would people be most interest in?

    - I take it most other titles are produced with a run of about 100 copies?

    - Who do I contact to get boxes made (when I get to that stage)?

    - Anyone who wants to express interest would be appreciated?

Note: Not looking at making money, this is more for fun and self gratification. There was no Internet back in the 80's, so other than an order for 1,000 'sample' copies of three of my games from ASCII Corporation (which I did not have the money or resources to fill - only tapes back then), my games never really got the chance to circulate outside of Australia.

Anyway if anyone is interested let me know :)
