  1. How about its sequel, Heart of the Alien? I never gave Heart of the Alien a chance back in the day. I really snobbed it. I want to give it a chance though.
  2. The black wolf bear thing used to freak me out. I've never beaten the game. I refuse to look at a walkthrough for it. The main problem I have is when I have to get past some dude much later on in the game. He's got these grenade things or something. Anyway, because there's so much on the screen the game heavily lags and character control just goes right out the window. Forgot about Tomb Raider. I dug the first 2. They seemed to get more action orientated as the series went along. I've never come across One for the PSX, I might track down some gameplay footage and check it out.
  3. Looking at getting into some more games with similar gameplay to that of Another World. The only others that I can think of are Flashback, Abe's Oddysee, and Abe's Exodus. I guess I'll say Prince of Persia, too. All of these games rock. What other quality titles should I be looking at? EDIT: To please my american friends I'll also say Out of this World (Another World) EDIT2: Forgot about Heart of Darkness.
  4. In another thread (this one http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/191768-favourite-era-and-consoles/) i said that the PSX/N64/Saturn era is the worst era of gaming. And I still heavily believe that. The games have not aged well visually to the point where a lot are just horrible. But does anyone else think that this was also a good time for experimentation? How do our old IP's fit in with the new hardware? What is achievable in this new hardware? What constraints does it have, and how can we work around them? Those are questions that get me a little excited when thinking about this era.
  5. Any news on a PAL release of Otomedius Excellent for the 360? Hoping someone's heard some positive news.
  6. While I think it's well past it's prime, even though South Park is no where near as popular as what it was in the first 2 seasons, the new episodes just keep getting better and better. I love the show, and I think it stays current. I think I'd pass up on the game though, unless it's actually Chinpokomon.
  7. Sounds like the best flippin' job in the world! My guidance councillor in high school had no idea of how I could get a job doing that, secretly I bet he didn't even think it was a real job.
  8. I didn't think that I would either. Stupidly I sold my whole lot to help me buy my first car. It's funny, looking back on it, I had so many good games for the PSX, but when I look back to my PS2 collection, which I still have, I've just got a heap of games that as a majority, am not interested in, not in the slightest. Over half are racing titles. Looking back, the reasoning because of this is that of the games I owned, the games for the PSX were the ones that I would actually play since the PS2 was backwards compatible. I rented a lot of games for the PS2, great games, finished them in the week/weekend, and never bought them. The games that I do own were mainly presents. Not a whole lot of memories for the PS2. Maybe I'll add collecting a heap of PSX games for 2012, although I do really want to focus on my current goals.
  9. I have such good memories of the PSX. There was such a good variety in games. I remember beating MGS numerous times on the different difficulty levels, such an immersive game. I remember about 3 years ago when I was still at uni, my housemates girlfriend brought over Abe's Oddysee. Me and her played it for pretty much 3 days straight, making sure we rescued all our fellow Mudokons. We'd take it in turns. I was really pissed off when it was xmas day and the big box turned out to be a PSX. I wasn't a brat about it or anything, but I highly expressed to my parents before hand that I do NOT want a Playstation, I would like an N64. Looking back, there's a lot of great memories. Wish I still had a lot of my games.
  10. Nothing that I'm really looking forward to. But there's some 2011 releases that I'll want to pick up at reduced prices.
  11. I have mixed feelings about this news. On one hand, it upsets me because if feel that the NES had such a large impact not only for the gaming community, but society. On the other hand, I feel that this is good news. The gaming community is really growing, and interconnecting with online multiplayer and communication (for the record, I despise online multiplayer, well, not really, I'd just rather have a bunch of friends all in the same room sharing a little screen) And while we're talking where the 360 sits on all time favourite console lists, I don't really know where I can put it. I own one, and I'm thankful that I own it. But nothing really screams at me as full on stand out exclusive games. There's a few indie games I have interest in, but I like physical copies of games. Okay, time for my list. 1. SNES 2.Dreamcast 3.NES 4. Mega Drive 5. N64 Okay... so it's not in my top 5, but I'd say top 10. Below Wii, but above PS3.
  12. I've only ever seen one dead NES cart. It was maybe 5 years ago. I got Ducktales from a bloke on eBay. As soon as it arrived I checked it to see if it needed cleaning before putting it in my NES, but there was a crater in the circuit board. It was like something in it just went pop and damaged the circuit. I put in in my NES anyway and nothing happened. I contacted the seller on eBay and sent him a photo of the cart and the problem. He apologised and gave me a full refund. I ended up salvaging the cart case though and replaced the internals with Wanpaku Graffiti Splatterhouse through a Gyromite converter.
  13. Really need to vent this out. Tell me friends in the USA, how would you like to pay $69 US for Sonic Generations on the 3DS? I bet you wouldn't like it since it retails at $39.99! The game retails here in Australia for $68 AUS, which is $69US. Now I'm used to games being a bit more expensive here is Australia since our currency isn't normally worth as much, but for a while now it's been better than the american dollar. So why am I still paying so much for games??? Why aren't I paying $39.37 for this game??? Or even remotely close to the $40 mark??? And since the DS/3DS has no region lock, I'm just wasting money if I buy in store. I can get the games much cheaper from a reliable american eBay seller! I guess this is why I buy a lot more classic games, as opposed to the current gen.
  14. Looks like this is going to be a sad year for the Dreamcast. Pretty sure it's the first year since 1999 that a new game hasn't been released for the system.
  15. I'm the other way around. I love Sonic on the SMS, I much prefer it to the MD version. Sure it doesn't look as pretty, but in my opinion it's a better game. And I dislike Alex Kidd (Except in Shinobi World)
  16. The ice level shits me to tears. I find that if I could just get through the ice level in one go, I'd have a much better chance at the game. But I'm usually left with bugger all lives after finishing the ice level, if I even finish it at all. Still, one of my favourite games.
  17. There's been a couple that I've noticed on eBay lately, normally as part of a lot. I've noticed that some people are acknowledging in the sale that they're either a pirate or a hack cart, and it seems that eBay has let them get away with it as they're not claiming it to be something that it isn't. I find my pirate carts 2nd hand in flea markets.
  18. Do you still have: vc4000 RADOFIN EDITION ALL BOXED 4 TANK PLANE BATTLE 6 SHOOTING GALLERY 22 SPIDERS WEB 27 INVADERS 30 SPACE WAR 33 PLANET DEFENDER VC 4000 NEW ZEALAND FOUNTAIN EDITION FOUNTAIN FORCE II CONSOLE GAMES ALL BOXED 3 BLACKJACK 10 CODEBREAKER 13 CIRCUS 14 PRIZEFIGHT 15 SOCCER 20 HEAD ON 27 INVADERS I'd be looking at a sale for the lot if you've still got them. If so, what kind of condition are they in, and are they just boxed, or complete in box?
  19. BUMP Beggars can't be choosers. I'd be willing to look at anything for the 1292's CIB. It comes under many different names, so I'll list them here: Radofin 1292 Advanced Programmable Video System Radofin 1392 Advanced Programmable Video System Hanimex HMG-1292 Advanced Programmable Video System Hanimex HMG-1392 Advanced Programmable Video System Fountain Force 2 Fountain 1292 Advanced Programmable Video System Fountain 1392 Advanced Programmable Video System Grandstand Advanced Programmable Video System Lansay 1392 Audiosonic PP-1292 Advanced Programmable Video System Audiosonic PP-1392 Advanced Programmable Video System Prinztronic VC-6000 Prinztronic Tournament Acetronic MPU-1000 Acetronic MPU-2000
