I picked up God Hand for the PS2 for $2. I remember hearing about it, hearing it was rubbish, but I thought "Hey, $2, whatever." I flippin' love it!

I find that the Forza games are generally a better experience all round. Although I havn't played GT5 or Forza 3.

Actually I'm getting the Kinect, a kinect game, and Gears of War 3 with it, but they're what I'm trading in, to get the system even cheaper. I'm really only buying the system for modern fighting games. That sounds like quite a limited use

(It seems to basically come down to SFIV, MvC3, Blazblue, Tekken 6 and possibly the 2 upcoming SFxT and TxSF, no?)
That's the plan, but I'm sure there'll be something else to tickle my fancy further on down the line, I do plan on getting the Mass Effect games eventually, but motion control or 1st person shooters just don't do it for me.

Oh, and the search is over. I scored a 250GB Xbox360 pack with a few free games, then trading those games back to the store which brings the price down even further. That's cool, so you can get yourself a Kinect and play the new Steel Battalion some day

Weird. So your companies themselves decide on the length of the warranty?
Here in Germany one automatically has a 2 year warranty on consumer electronics by law, no matter what product it is.
Wow! That's flippin' awesome.

I got a chance to actually test, in store, a Super Street FIghter 4 Tournament Edition stick and was VERY happy with the feel of the stick, the buttons, and the weight. Picking it up tomorrow along with my 360 and SSF4AE.

I'm sure the base model has a warranty. And the cause of the RROD issue has pretty much been ironed out with late model original systems and the slim.
I'll be checking in stores today about warranty, but on these official xbox pages, they boast that one comes with a warranty.

It could simply be that they forgot to write it in, but I'll be double checking.

It seems the 4GB base model 360 doesn't have a warranty, where as the 250GB model has a one year warranty. I remember when the 360 first came out there were a lot of Red Ring problems. Are these problems still common?

The biggest problem I've had researching this is the amount of "reviews" on the internet that just focus on how cool the stickers are, or if the box looks good. And a heap of reviews that I've found, the sticks have never even been played, the reviewer says great things about the stick and says "although I've never used one to play". Does my head in.
-
I can't fully say why, but I HATED the feel of the Hori Real Arcade Pro. Just despised it, the accuracy of the stick for me was just awful. The stick was well made and looked great, but I sold mine after a month or so of frustrating trial.
My favorite stick, despite the look of it, has always been the X-Arcade controller, and it now has an adapter for 360.
I have to agree with Curious Sofa, X-Arcade is the only way to go!
Curious Sofa, was it the accuracy of the commands from the Hori stick, or was it that the stick is a square plate restrictor setup that caused you to dislike the stick? And how did you feel about the buttons? Was it the VX-SA model that you had?
I have heard that the X-Arcade is a great controller... when it's working. I've heard a few horror stories of the controllers commonly screwing up, and very poor customer service through their Support line.
Sure, it's got a lifetime warranty, but if I've got to send the unit back for repairs, I'm getting stung on return cost freight as they very clearly say that they will not cover warranty freighting the unit outside of the USA.
I've also heard that whilst it's a great controller for classic arcade games, the stick isn't quite suited for fighting games such as Street Fighter or KOF.
Have either of you guys had any problems with the X-Arcade? What kind of games do you play with it? Are you using it on a 360, or on a PC? I hear there is input lag when using the X-Arcade on consoles, but they're golden for running MAME on a PC.
And don't get me wrong, I'm not asking these questions cause I have my mind set on a HRAP. I'd love the X-Arcade to be the perfect choice because then I'd have a new stick for my Dreamcast as well. I really just want my first choice to be the right choice.

I'm currently looking at a Hori Real Arcade Pro VX-SA.

So after a day of researching, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for a base model Xbox360, and invest in a decent arcade stick.
Thanks for all the help!
-
So arcade sticks for the 360. Who's had some experience with these? I'm chasing a good quality stick that is still regularly available through retailers.
What have you found is good, and what have you found is rubbish?

Turns out the monthly fee I saw for the Xbox360 was actually the yearly fee.
-
Whoa, just saw monthly fees for online gaming for the Xbox360, and I simply don't think I'd be able to afford paying that. But I can't seem to find information on whether the Playstation Network has a monthly fee, or whether Sony are going to incorporate that in the near future. So at this stage, I'm leaning towards the PS3.
-
Thanks for the replies guys.
I would of course be buying an arcade stick for the console, any feedback on stick vs stick?
And any feedback on the ports of games like SF4, or KOF13, in terms of being arcade perfect? Taking graphics, speed, and sound into account.
-
I've been wanting to play this current tournament tack, but I can't find my gamecube controllers since I moved!
Also, I wouldn't often play online, but I'd mainly focus on Time Trials.

The thing I remember most: Trying to find one that works. ...I'm still looking. However, the last one I bought did have a Soul Caliber tucked away in the drive, so that was a bonus. Shenmue, some day I will play you. What problems do you tend to have with the Dreamcasts?
I haven't been able to find one that had a laser that didn't give me trouble yet.
Are you sure it's the laser? What exactly does it do? Just flat out not read the discs, glitchy games, or constantly resetting?

Hey guys,
So I'm looking at updating to either an Xbox360 or a PS3, and I don't know a lot about either system. So I'm after some advice.
I'd mainly be playing the system for fighting games such as Street Fighter 4, Marvel vs Capcom, and King of Fighters XIII. I'd be playing both multiplayer on the couch with friends, and multiplayer online.
I won't be playing it on a HD TV, and I'd be looking at the cheapest versions of the two.
I'm looking for good advice, not just "Xbox360 is shit, get a PS3" I had enough of that kind of talk in the 90's. I want some valid reasons to why you think one console would suit me better than another.
So, can someone help me out?
Cheers.

As someone else alluded above, this is one of the ONLY systems I bought at launch. I was a die-hard Saturn fan (although I had/have/like PS1 too) and it propelled my Saturn (Sega) enthusiasm to see the successor so awesome. It's really a shame the system didn't last longer, because the already-excellent games would have just kept getting better. I really hated the name "Dreamcast" though, I thought it was really silly, although of course I got used to it. The name "Katana" was so cool-sounding, I thought they were going to run with something like that, until the "Dreamcast" name was announced. "Dreamcast" sounds like a little girls' accessory for her "Hello Kitty" stuffed animal playset. I also thought the controller was a little bit too big (too much plastic) and the cord was coming out the wrong end of the controller. However, they were still comfortable and worked well, unlike some controllers in the history of consoles. With many of the "hit" games (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Crazy Taxi, Sega GT, etc...) making it to other systems (and being sold in pawn shop for $5) and Soul Calibur II and III on other systems, I don't play mine much anymore, but I drag it out once in a while and relive 1999. edit: "Black Belt" was the other name for the other candidate system, and would have sounded much cooler, too. There WAS a Hello Kitty Dreamcast...

Also, I've been giving mine a damn workout. Capcom vs SNK 2!
-
Damn, I'm gonna give mine a raz today! A bit of Code Veronica followed by my current save of Grandia 2.
-
I never pay any more than $2AUS for a loose 2600 cart unless it's something that's honestly worth a bit of cash. That's all they're worth to me.

Just scored a Sega Saturn, any known problems I should know down the track? Motors going out? Controller issues? Anything?
-
I just throw mine in a box, they are organised in a way that there's only few that i'd ever play, so they're naturally on top.

What Xbox 360 game are you currently playing?
