  1. I don't think you need the expense of a legal professional to know that the laws of the US don't apply in Germany.
  2. Too easy?!?! Man, what does that make me?!?! Don't answer that.
  3. Sorry, but it had the most annoying "new feature" known to man........ it scrolled right to left, instead of left to right.
  4. Hey guys - what about Galactic Chase? That was excellent! I remember buying that and loving it - and when Atari came out with the Galaxian cartridge I thought I'd never play it again...... but Galactic Chase is by far the better game, imo.
  5. Okay - it was "easier to score higher in the later version", but that's the version *I* have been using, and have managed a measly 60k. You on the other hand turned the score over. I'm pleased there are so many fans of this game. When grabbing some games in emulation I forgot about this one, stumbling upon it much later. And there goes a couple days.... As for Crossfire - Sloopy, you know you want a game - NOW. RIGHT NOW.
  6. I have a Zaxxon around here somewhere - but I'm in the UK. I'll check to see if the box is different.
  7. It's really just another form email they've sent out. Not that I use Ebay. I hate Ebay. My gripe with Ebay was - I was living in Germany for several years, and while I was there I registered an Ebay account. Being in Germany it routed my account through ebay.de. Okay, I can live with that. However, I got tired of dealing with the German pages for log on when I moved back to the UK. So I wanted to switch my account - and the 137 positive feedbacks - to the UK site. No go. Their advice - start a new account. Huh? What about my feedback? "Well, you'll soon build it up again." What rubbish! I quit at that point.
  8. I'm with Fibrewire - do nothing. In an all out war you've only got something to lose. It's not worth getting worked up about, imo. They have no jurisdiction in Germany, but getting nasty about merely puts your head above the parapet. You're asking to get it shot off.
  9. There are (when I bought it originally I got the second one) but it only changes the scoring system by, I believe, assigning more points to shooting various things. I'm imagine - at least in the UK - that the original version is more difficult to get. The other great thing about Alien Swarm - you can almost be out of the game entirely, and then turn it around in one go! Excellent.
  10. There were/are some great games on the Atari 400/800/XL of course. Just about anything from Synapse, for example. Oh, and Atari themselves made a decent cartridge or five (Star Raiders!) But I wanted to give a mention to two games that I loved back in the day, and still find maddeningly addictive today. The first is Alien Swarm. It's a game that wanted to be in an arcade, but never was. The original packaging, as I recall, dared people to get up to 50,000 points - which I'm still able to do. There's a lot to love, decent graphics, simple design, nice sound. The aim of the game isn't simply to protect your ship, but instead to protect your ammo (those yellow blocks at the bottom of the screen). By the way, to play the game you position your ship above a block, and press the joystick UP. You'll pick up the ammo (five shots) and away you go. The innovative scoring is great, and yes, by 50,000 it's plenty challenging (60k tops for me). The second I'll mention is perhaps the most infuriating game I ever played - Crossfire. This f***ing game drives me up the wall! I can clear two screens, but on the third I always lose the plot - and every single time IT'S MY FAULT. But then, that's what makes it so very good. I played this for quite some time back in the day, and lately I've been giving it a try also. I've not gotten any better with it, sadly. But it reeks of "just one more go" - the sure signs of a winner.
  11. I think this is a great little game. Getting one life (plane) is a tad harsh, imo. Graphically it's pretty good though. Another thing that might confuse people - if you don't hit the marked targets then the game just goes around and around..... I agree with Mclaneinc though, the later version (in space) didn't really do it for me.
  12. I could change but these are what come to mind: 1. Space Invaders 2. Missile Command 3. Adventure 4. Superman 5. Pengo 6. Dodge Em 7. Centipede 8. Circus Atari 9. Video Pinball 10. Mr Do These are not strictly in order - except the top 2. By far my favorite game is Space Invaders - it just IS, you know? I can't think of a home version I prefer, and even Atari screwed up when they made a version for the Atari 400/800. I also like Missile Command a lot. That one got better for the 400/800, but I have a soft spot for the VCS version. The others are just terrific. Dodge Em is a lot of fun if you crank the difficulty levels (the easier levels are easily beatable due to the patterns). Circus Atari drives me crazy - in a good way. Video Pinball has all kinds of things wrong with it, not least because most of the time it seems to play itself. But at the time it was something else and I loved it. Pengo and Mr Do are simply good arcade conversions. Adventure and Superman were played endlessly.
  13. Is this still available? I'm interested at $38...
