Please help me determine which Flashback 4 games may be a bit "violent"
Vaughan replied to stume's topic in Atari 2600
Of course movies and video games affect viewewrs and players. Some think it's a negative impact, some a negligible one. No video game makes someone shoot someone else - but it can feed a sick mind. As do movies. I don't think there's any doubt about that. Let's just be happy we're the good guys! -
I feel for you, but at the end of the day you just have to put it down to experience and make a note not to bid on this seller. No-one is going to help you in an y way get back at the cheaters. At least you only lost an auction, and not hard cash. Don't let the b*stard ruining your day.

I use Mame UI. http://www.mameui.info/ To be honest, I don't know why I bothered upgrading my Mame. I had version .37, and it played everything I wanted, and I had a UI I was happy with. I upgraded to the latest Mame on a whim - not because of any new games. I just ended up spending a lot of time sorting things for thge new version, for no real gain. My advice would be to examine why you want to upgrade. If it's worth it for you, fine. But if it's just a whim.... well, I'd rather not have bothered. It just meant sorting out new UI's, replacing ROM's.......

Hello there. I'd be interested in this. It's such a pain to collect everything together....... PM me if you decide to go ahead. -
A new twist on an old email scam, UPS users beware.
Vaughan replied to Fixitguy74's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
To be honest, I get those all the time. Seriously, once a month or so. Most of the time they're illiterate, but regardless, always fake. I delete them without a second thought, and I suggest others do too. I've never been alerted to a postage problem via email, not legitimately. Just get rid. -

Not yet - but will be in a few months. Work has taken me abroad - can't wait to get back!

Me? Humpty Dumpty mate, without the good looks. But I wasn't in any way trying to attack you, I watched your video, and the first thing that sprung to mind was Rafa..... in Liverpool you'd be a hero.
-
How you doing, Rafa?

I can assure everyone Heavy Sixers did exist in the UK - I used to have one! Don't have it now, sadly.

My clear out continues. These are a box of 2600 cartridges. I'd love to just get rid of all of them. Anyone want to make me an offer? Condition varies (I don't know what type of glue Activision used on their labels, but I've never seen a pristine one!) Last time I used my 2600 they all worked. Ever get depress while playing video games?
Vaughan replied to fdurso224's topic in Classic Console Discussion
No. And to be honest, if I did feel that way I'd probably go find something else to do. This is supposed to be fun! I do get annoyed sometimes that, after all these years, I'm still quite useless at these games - you'd have thought I'd have gotten better by now. But it's fun trying to get better. I mostly play games when I'm listening to music. The primary thing is the music, and the gaming goes along with it. Maybe you could combine the two as well.... -
Halo on the 2600? Didn't know that had been done. Wow.
-
ps: I am shipping these from the UK - so this is a better deal with UK people. If the person just happens to be a 2600 fan (again, PAL) then for another £20 I'll throw in 30 or so 2600 Carts.

Hello all. For reasons of a move, I have decided to get rid of a few things. The story is, I have a 7800, modded for components. However, it went black and white - so I took it apart. I found the problem, fixed it, and then got distracted, so I never actually got around to putting it back together again. When I do I reckon someone might want it for say, £20 + Shipping. But at the moment, let's see the Carts I have. No boxes of manuals. 22 unique games, plus one duplicate. I really want to sell them as a batch rather than one by one. How about £50 + Shipping? Thanks for looking! Thanks for the explanation, although I can't fix it, myself, it at least prevents me from tinkering trying to make it work. -

I admit, my computer at home is basically rubbish (Pentium 4, 1.8Ghz, 1.5GB of RAM). Altirra runs great full screen though. Just an observation. -
Do you see more than one button in Control Panel? You should be able to map spacebar to button 1 or any other button on the gamepad. You need to create a new input map that also has the "console" controller in order to do this. Once that is added, you can map its Space Bar input to one of the gamepad buttons. The emulator can only objectively execute code and cannot make subjective assessments of the sound. Thanks for that, it works! I didn't know about the "Controller" step - but after that it was a breeze. Thanks a lot!

Guys, Altirra see's my gamepad OK, but only one button. For games like Defender it would be nice to map the spacebar to another button - is this possible?

Rainbow 2.0 Atari 400/800XL/130XE/5200 Emulator released
Vaughan replied to chris_rainbow's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I thought that a lot of the time people create these things as a fun little exercise, just an extension of their hobby. After all, since neither of them are charging money, it clearly have to be simply for the hell of it - right? As such, why not? -

Reboot seems to have fixed it. Maybe it was the updates I'd done to the system..... anyway - working now. Next problem - anyone found that full screen (the only way i like to play emulators) there is an extreme speed degradation? In a window speed is good. -

Okay, the keyboard seems fine actually, I had just assumed it would work the same as Altirra (same keys). Still no gamepad though.
