Season 1 Week 20: Krull DOUBLE POINTS WEEK!
SpiceWare replied to Deteacher's topic in Arcade/MAME High Score Club
Ah - yeah, that game I made it to the princess level w/out dying, but thought you had to kill the beast in order to save the princess. Didn't work of course, but scored a lot of points doing it -

Nope, the first time through. Couldn't tell you - never played the game before and am not 100% sure of what I'm doing Did a quick run and at the end of the first 5 levels I had the following: 1 = 5060 2 = 16060 3 = 24560 4 = 35960 5 = 46060 -

The "Holy Cow - I can't believe it's a 2600 cart!" Thread

Thanks! My vote goes to Dolphin. The large, yet detailed sprites gave me the idea on how to do the dragon in Medieval Mayhem. -

Smoothing won't be needed if just 2 paddles are read. Paddles in Medieval Mayhem are read every other frame (2 paddles per frame) and I didn't motion smooth the results.
-
paddles are very jerky when they're read 1 out of 4 frames; however, that can be worked around as I discovered in Warlords.

17,210 having difficulties on the 2nd screen, especially when they speed up. Might need to try using the d-pad and buttons instead of analog sticks on my PS2 controller. -

Looks nice! I'd add 2600 Programming For Newbies to the new Homebrew Development section, I found it invaluable when I got started on Medieval Mayhem. Make sure to point out the pinned topic Sorted Table of Contents.

Logitech is releasing an IR to BT Adapter to let their Harmony Universal Remotes control the PS3. While Logitech don't support using it with other Universal Remotes, Remote Central has a post about using it with others like my Pronto Pro .

Things you were jealous for in other 8-bit computers
SpiceWare replied to wood_jl's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I'm not familiar with Atari's 810 drive, but Commodore's 1541 drive has 16K of ROM and 2K of RAM. Sector size is 256 bytes, of which 254 are data - the first 2 bytes are used to denote next sector or, for the last sector, number of bytes of real data. The main thing I liked on the Atari was the color choices though I found it's "monochrome" text mode to be lacking, especially since I wrote and ran a Commodore BBS that utilized colored text (check out the video). The other thing I thought was cool about the Atari was 4 joystick ports, though that feature was dropped in later revisions. I liked the expansion slots in the Apple - I had a friend who ran a chat BBS using 2 Apples with 6 modems in each (I think it was 6, that was about 25 years ago). The 2 Apples were linked together somehow so all 12 callers could chat with each other. Occasionally she'd have 1 or 2 modems dial another chat BBSes for temporary cross-country chats. This would happen late at night when long distance rates were lower. -

I thought the sound wasn't right as well. Had a busy weekend (such as seeing the Art Car Parade), so I've not looked into it yet.
-
I also ordered October 15th, must have been the day Google Checkout screwed up. I sent an email March 25th and received a reply from Curt on the 28th asking for my address, but nothing since. I sent a follow up on April 25, but haven't heard anything else

Art Car bash shows how Houston rolls - look for "resources" in the left column, then click on "photos" for the pop-up photos. The photo about the bunny slippers being from Berkeley is # 10.
-
Who knows, they could have! Per a pop-up photo thing at the Houston Chronicle, the bunny slippers are from Berkeley.

The Houston Art Car Parade started in April 1988, with 40 cars and a crowd of about 2,000. The parade now consists of over 250 cars from all over the country (and Canada), and is estimated to have been seen by 250,000 people! Even though I moved to Houston in 87, this is the first year that I've made it out to see the parade. I had a blast and plan to watch it each year from now on. Some of my favorites: Bunny Slippers The Crapper Car Peep Mobile (yep, Peeps! Check out detail on the full size image) Dragon Blues Brothers Tribute Ping Pong Balls - looks better in motion as they're all mounted on springy things and move around. Wiener Dog - the feet were attached to the wheels so they looked like it was walking down the road Peacock - tail feathers up Peacock - tail feathers down Dragon The rest of my photos can be viewed in my gallery.

True, it would be better if they gave it more of their own style, like Scissor Sisters did with their cover of Comfortably Numb. While I've heard it in German, Peter Schilling's English version is what normally played in the states. Nope, America's a big place Sounds good though.
