How do I not know about these things?
SpiceWare commented on Nathan Strum's blog entry in (Insert stupid Blog name here)
I remember all of those with the exceptions of Quark, Room 222 and The Kids from C.A.P.E.R. The link to Battle of the Planets goes to your Atari Hookup post. -
Settings like these on newer TVs are commonly accessed via menus using the remote. Some TVs might have menu buttons on the TV as well, on mine the on-the-TV buttons are hidden behind pop-out panel.

The C= 128 had a slick KERNEL subroutine, PRint IMMediate that let you inline your text. You could print over 256 characters with a single call, but you couldn't have a NULL as part of the output data. jsr PRIMM .byte "text to output", 0 ;program resumes here

Figures - now that I've brought it up, it hasn't occurred in over a week

Emulator on monitor vs. real Atari 2600 on TV
SpiceWare replied to Random Terrain's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
Yep, screen rolls aren't noticeable in Stella. What I do to check that in Stella is to enter the debugger and type in breakif { _scan==#263 } which causes the program to halt if it goes over 262 scanlines. However, this doesn't catch it if there's too few scanlines. -

Doctor: A new demo by Trilobit for the Atari 2600

Slick! Doesn't like it in NTSC mode, so I won't get to try it on my real VIC -
I've opened it up and took a picture of the CyberTech so you can see which one it is. I have the Atari powered up and will let it run for a while again to see if it color fades so I can check the other things. I have a C= 1084 (mono) I can try it out with as well.

That's pretty cool, didn't realize there were demos on the VIC! Looks like they were doing raster interrupts in it, but the VIC doesn't have raster interrupts... Probably doing timer interrupts to simulate raster interrupts. EDIT: Yep, VIC raster interrupts are simulated by using interrupts on 2 timers - Making stable raster routines (C64 and VIC-20) -

Here's the 3 files that are in the RAR. The one ending in .txt was originally .nfo, which AA won't let you upload. It's just a text file so the extensions better as .txt 3lb_doctor_emu.bin 3lb_doctor_real.bin 3lb_doctor.txt -
Readings w/out a cartridge or controller plugged in: cap = 9.97 1-2 = 9.82 2-3 = 4.97 with Krok Cart and joystick cap = 9.10 1-2 = 8.87 2-3 = 4.96 I tested the power adaptor as well and get 14.54v on it. Not sure why it's so much higher than 9, though testing another adaptor yielded similar results. The colors are not fading at the moment, even after having left it running for a half hour. I'll leave the case apart and the voltmeter handy so I can take readings right away next time it starts acting up.

It's a light sixer with your CyberTech driving a C= 1084S. My Amiga CD32 doesn't fade, so I know it's a problem with the Atari. Both are hooked up via an s-video switch box. Between the switchbox and C= monitor I have a professionally made cable that splits S-Video to 2 RCA. I don't always notice it, so it could be related to the game and/or controller. Most recently I noticed it when running a test kernel for this year's Holiday Cart via my Krok Cart. It seems to take a little bit before it happens, though it's not consistent as to how quickly it occurs. When it occurs it repeatedly fades to grey, then back to color. Thinking back, I also noticed when we played Ikari Warriors for the HSC - which I had to play via the Krok Cart. The power adaptor is a 9V 500mA that I'd picked up from Fry's a few years back. It's not a "selectable output", only the 9V 500mA and the price sticker actually referred to Atari. I have a voltmeter, but need to track it down as my study's a mess after Ike. I'd been more concerned with getting the roof and fence repaired, and now that those are done cleaning up the study and replacing the desk are next to be addressed. I'll look for it today and post results as soon as I can. Thanks!

Bloom County was one of my favorites back in the day, though somehow I missed that one. Thanks for posting it!

I've been having an issue lately with the color fading out of the signal on my Atari. I also sometimes see some color fringing that I hadn't seen before. Any pointers on what to check for?

$1.99 a video. I have a way to snag YouTube videos (that's what I've been using), but the picture and sound quality isn't that great. I can watch them on the Mac (or PC - iTunes runs there as well), iPhone and even an iPod that I seldom use since getting the iPhone. I could also watch them on my HDTV if I had an Apple TV. I would like one, but my HDTV only has 1 set of Component Video inputs for HD sources. My receiver has a built in 2 component switch that I currently use to get HD from my cable box and PS3. I have MediaLink which lets my PS3 access its music, video and on the Mac; however it can't play any of the iTunes Store videos - even if they're the unprotected "iTunes Plus".

And here I thought I'd miscounted

Hurray! My roof repairs are happening right now

iTunes finally added Ladytron videos to the US store! Just Ghosts and Runaway (which I'd not seen before) so far. Hopefully Destroy Everything You Touch will come soon, they have it in the UK store but I can't purchase from that one . I'd also love a cleaner version of the video for Evil, the US version is just the band w/out the story.

multiple monitors are great. At my prior job I had 3 19" LCDs. At my current job I have a laptop and I use the built in display along with a 24" widescreen.

That does look cool. Hopefully it prints well - when I was deciding on MM I printed them out and ended up eliminating a few I liked as they didn't translate well from screen to paper.

I'm missing something. How can you get 4 joysticks out of 10 digital inputs? You need 5 bits for a single-button digital joystick. So it seems like you could get 3 single-button sticks out of it if you include the base stick. from Post #11 so hook up 4 hacked joysticks.

Hmm, looks like there's no stereo for PA - PAL-S takes the place of AUD1 while PAL-I takes the place of BLK. Anyone know what are those 2 PAL-x signals are?
