Tales from... THE FUTURE! (revisited)

Hmm - just hit "find me" again and it worked. Must be just at the edge of a 3rd towers range. -

Sort of works for me - if I'm at the front of my house it picks up 1 cell tower, if I go to the back of the house it picks up another. 1 too few to triangulate against. Rearranging the icon's is pretty neat - looks like jello in motion -
The PS2 had sold twice as many units as the PS3 by now.

well that's a given - my stacks of obsolete VHS, S-VHS, Laser Disks and DVDs can attest to that. Japan's also hard at work on their next broadcast standard, Ultra HDTV. I don't think Blu-ray's 50GB would be much use to hold video for a 7,680 x 4,320 display. They'd probably choose something like Holographic Versatile Disk for the next generation. Designes call for HVD to hold 3.9 TB, about 80 times the capacity of a 50GB Blu-ray disc. -

Unsure? Blu-Ray media sales have been 2:1 over HD DVD media (wiki). This was probably a big factor in Warner Brothers recent announcement that they were going Blu-ray exclusive. -
Found this online today via my PS3 and tried the demo. Liked it so much I've already bought it

Lemme guess - twice as good as any other PS3 title

detailed missle sprite drawing trick, anyone?
SpiceWare replied to grafixbmp's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
M Network games used missiles as sprites. Check out Lock 'N' Chase and Dark Cavern. That's a slick trick for a 9-pixel sprite - I'll have to remember that. -
Stella supports all of those controllers, and more.
-
That works fine provided no other sprites or missiles conflict on those same scanlines, notice how Natasha's up there all by herself? That's not the case in your DK mockups where DK, Mario, Fireballs, etc all occur in the same areas on the screen. Even Damsel in Distress Pauline, who initially looks very doable(um, no pun intended) up there all by herself, turns out not to be as Mario (depending on the player's skills) eventually makes it to the top. and I notice there's nothing else showing(sprites, missiles, or ball) on the 3d cube where that playfield is so very colorful. Ya think there's a reason for that? Um, yeah, I didn't know that... All I can say is start reading this and get cracking on your grand remake of DK.
-
Looks impressive - but - it doesn't look doable. For one, the sprites on the 2600 are limited to 1 color per scanline, not 2. For another, the playfield is normally a single color per scanline(especially with all the objects that are going to be displayed), so the slanting ramps would have to be a single red, not different shades of red, plus the ladder sections that are on the same scanlines as the ramps would be red, not blue.

I have a some dupes if you'd like them - I checked the stack against your list and you don't have Indy 500, Omega Race or Star Raiders listed. Only issue is all 3 require special controllers. Indy 500 needs the driving controllers, Omega Race needs the Booster Grip, and Star Raiders needs a keypad controller. If you'd like them just PM me your address and I'll ship them out.

Your best bet is to post a work-in-progress with your placeholder graphics.

Chimera has 2 expansion ports. Per this blog entry each port could have one of the following plugged into it: Dual RS232 Dual PS/2 Controller Port Genesis adapter (maybe) PC Gameport w/MIDI (uses both expansion headers)
