  1. Damn. I just found out yesterday that the Saints paid their players to hurt the opposing players even more than normal. Despite living in New England, I started to like the Saints. I love a good underdog. This just ruined it for me.

  2. Is it okay to be a Montreal Canadiens fan living in New England? Will I get beat up?

Probably no worse than if I wore my Canucks jersey around Boston when I come to see a Sox game in June. :)

Is it okay to like the Maple Leafs if I live in New England? Do the Bruins hate them?

I'm a diehard Sox fan, but I love the '86 Mets. Best single season team ever, until the '04 Red Sox came along. The Red Sox weren't bad either in '86. Contrary to popular belief, Buckner was actually a pretty good player. However, he was injured by Game 6, playing with two bad knees, and it was a questionable decision to keep him in the game.

I think Buckner was left in so he could be on the field when the Sox won. From what I remember during the '86 season, he was taken out for a defensive replacement at the end of some games. I always liked Buckner.....great series.

  8. Accidentally left my C64 plugged in for 3 hours... What should I do? I'm probably not going to play it for the next few days, to rest it.

I don't think it should harm the C-64 to plugged in, or even switched on, for over 3 hours. I had sessions far longer than that...

I try to keep my play sessions under 45 minutes maximum. I also usually use a house fan to cool it off.

  9. Damn. The Patriots lost. Oh well, there's always Red Sox baseball to watch... To bad I have to wait months to watch that... Oh well, there's always offseason baseball talk shows on MLB Network...

The Red Sox are awesome. It's the 100th aniversary of their Fenway Park this April, so I'm definately going to my first home game this year. I've been watching the MLB Network on TV lately, great source for offseason baseball news.

  10. I like both Atari ST and Amiga, but it's the Apple IIgs that's the king of the 16-bits.

Because the TV show Fastlane starring Peter Facinelli, Bill Bellamy, and Tiffani-Amber Thiessen was so much better. I hope the guy responsible for replacing Firefly with Fastlane was slowly disemboweled and forced to eat his own blood-covered intestines like spaghetti.

  12. Should I quit RuneScape? It doesn't work properly on my stupid mac.

  13. How do I get the ROMs needed to start the damn emulator?
  14. Where is this place located? I'm in New England, and I want to know how much shipping would be.
  15. Is there an easy to find external RAM expansion, like the 1064? I'd normally get that, but I'm not too sure if it was released. There apparently is some sort of MPP 1064 clone, but I don't know how easy to find it would be.
  16. Cool video. My local retro game store has a few of these, I might check it out sometime. Right now my focus is on classic computers.
  17. I've heard tell of the 600XL RAM expansion (the 1064) having never been officially released. Apparently someone found a whole warehouse of them, and now they're fairly cheap. Is this true? Were there any other external RAM expansions for the 600XL that were released?
  18. I did not see a palm tree logo. Maybe it was on the box. I bought it at Toys R Us near Almeda Mall in Houston. It was under $50 back in the day. Very affordable compared to Atari branded tape drives back then. I have also seen it on the web for other 8bits. The more I recalled what my recorder looked like (I haven't seen it for 25 years), I don't think it was the one you showed above. Not exactly. The case looks the same, but I recall the color being a little more purple and grey than the one pictured, and I don't recall the clear purple plastic door cover, the door cover on mine looked more like the XC12. But your case looks more like I remembered mine looked like. But there was definately a logo that had one or two palm trees in it, though they might have been stylized ones like the silk screen text on the in your picture. I'm thinking it might be the same company, but a different model, either earlier or later, or maybe it was just another Oriental company that used the same case molding or the same recorder from some generic factory, and just changed small stuff to look different. That name though; Thiahaho, does sound familiar. I think I had the same recorder, but had some cosmetic changes different from yours. God knows it happens all the time, just look at the 410 recorders that had at least two different models. Mine was from TRU, one in a suburb of Chicago back in '85. It was under $50, which is also why I got it instead of the 1010 sitting next to it in the display for around $100. I also chose it becuase even though the color was off, it was still closer in color and style to my XE than the 1010 recorder. It matched better. Is that drive any good?
  19. How much for that Black/Red DS Lite? The hinge on my GBA SP AGS-101 broke, and I think I'd rather just get a DS Lite for GBA gaming than get another GBA.
  20. How much would a DS Lite be new at WalMart?

  23. When did you stop using your Atari 8-bit computer? It seems like there's hardly any software released after 1988.

I had an Atari 800 through the late 80s, but I started getting into PCs around 1990, so my more "serious" tasks shifted to the PC at that point (although I still use the Atari machines for games).

My activity slowed down around 1988 when I got an ST, but I still used it as late as 1995. Went back to it periodically but now haven't used it for about 5 years.

  24. I was reading Vintage Computing & Gaming recently, and I saw a flyer for an Apple II/IBM PC Wico. I had seen this joystick before, but what caught my eye was that there was apparently a Tandy version. This would be neat to have, it's probably quite good.
