  1. Ah, who gives a care about gamemaster? Anyway, I think you got a good deal there, FoodMonster. 2 Vaders, a ton of games, and various paddles and joysticks for around $22! That's quite a steal!
  2. Hey, watch it because I happen to be a fan of the C64! I like both the Atari 8-bits and the C64. Both computers have their strengths and weaknesses. The Atari is better at handling sprites, its OS is easier to use, and its serial bus is faster. The C64 is better at generating graphics and sound, it has less outdated technology, and it has a multitude of programs. Say what you Atari fans will about the C64, say what you C64 fans will about the Atari, but I will always like both for what they are.
  3. Alright, now what I'm saying is that possibly the ROM chip inside the XEGS is bad. Now, open up your XEGS, remove the RF shield, and look for a chip on the motherboard marked C101687. This is the ROM chip that contains the XE's OS. It contains the OS itself, Atari BASIC, and Missile Command. What you'll want to do is order that chip from the site I showed you, pull the bad chip out of its socket, and replace it with the new one. Then, you put the RF shield back on, close up the case, and test it.
  4. Oops! I didn't see your reply before I edited my post!
  5. Sounds like a bad ROM chip to me. You can get some at this site: www.best-electronics-ca.com
  6. It doesn't matter. You can play just about any cart on the XEGS except for a few Roklan carts. You can also play most XEGS carts on the other 8-bits too, but some XEGS carts require more than 32K of memory like Hardball. So you can go ahead and take out all your old 8-bit carts (if you have any), and play them on the XEGS.
  7. I told you, I hooked the entire thing up correctly.
  8. I finally got my Atari 600XL today in the mail, and of course, I was very happy with it. I hooked it all up, and when I turned it on, all I got was a black screen. When I pushed the Reset key, it made a small beep like it was supposed to, but I still got nothing. Can anybody help me out?
  9. I dug out a 1541 drive from my dad's old box filled with Commodore stuff about a year ago, and when I tested it, it powered up like it should, but the red drive status light stayed on and I couldn't load or save anything! And the funny thing is, my dad said it worked flawlessly the last time he used it. Are there any bad chips in it, and if so, where's a good place I can get chips from?
  10. Wow! I thought only the 2600, the 400 and the 800 could take a beating... I guess I was wrong.
  11. I read somewhere that the speed of the 1050 is 19.2 kbps. What's the speed of the 1541 in kbps?
  12. 1. Is a DOS disk required to load and save files? 2. Is it faster than the Commodore 1541? I'm asking these questions because I just got my 1050 in the mail a few days ago (it works).
  13. It's about time for me to compare the two systems... 5200: I've only played this system through emulation, and even though I can get most of the games on it for my 600XL, there are a few that stand out from the others like Berzerk, Space Dungeon, Robotron, Qix, Centipede, and Vanguard. However, it's the poor controllers that turn me off from the system. That, and it doesn't have 2600 compatbility out of the box. 7800: I've also only played this one through emulation, and the 7800 is a spectacular system (this is coming from the mouth of an NES fan and collector). There a lot of great games for it like Ballblazer, Centipede, Asteroids, Ms. Pac-Man, and Joust. If there has to be one thing the 7800 is great for, it's the kick-ass arcade conversions. The original games are great too, although some are a little too weird for my taste (like Ninja Golf and Basketbrawl). And of course, the other thing I like about the 7800 is that it has 2600 compatbility out of the box. I like both systems a lot, but the 5200's horrible controllers keep me away from playing the actual system. So I'd have to go with the 7800 on this one. I think this is the longest and most thought-out post I've ever typed.
  14. Wow! That just amazes me how durable those Ataris are!
  15. You can use the mouse. Oh BTW, this thread belongs in the Emulation forum.
  16. Argh! Can't we ban Troy already? His behavior is driving me nuts!
  17. OH MY GOD! I don't understand why eBay lets stuff like this get past them. That image is gonna give me nightmares for quite awhile.
  18. So? At least he has Waterworld, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre BOXED!
  19. I showed my dad a good deal for a 7800 on eBay, and he refused it because he said I didn't need it. Then I told him I had $125 to spend, and then he said I don't need to spend my money on "junk" like this! I'm so pissed at him right now.
  20. Well, I had my graduation party today, which is why I wasn't around here for most of today. Anyway, I set up both my Atari 2600 and my NES in my mom's office, and they managed to rack up more time than the PSX and the N64 that were set up in my room! I had tons of fun playing Warlords, Video Olympics, and Basketball! You guys were right. The 2600 IS great for parties! P.S. I got $125 from all the cards I got.
  21. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...8&category=1469 The seller tells all...
  22. When I first saw this, I had an Altoid in my mouth (spearmint), and when I saw the BIN, my Altoid dropped out of my mouth, I leaned my head back, and started to drool. That shows you how shocked I was.
  23. You could go ahead and PM CPUWIZ to look at your system.
  24. The Combat that was made in 1977 was a rarity of 2. The rest have a rarity of 1.
