  1. LOL the ColecoVision's tech was roughly the same age as the A8's. Heck the CV and Adam were really cobbled together from off-the-shelf parts whereas the A8 was mostly comprised of custom hardware.
  2. I think there's a large enough market for repro covers, that and the front smoked piece covering the controller ports are by far and away the most broken and missing pieces I've seen on the 5200. I've got a 2-port 5200 with a chunk taken out of the front piece and I'd love to get a new replacement.
  3. Nobody's brought up the Blinking Light Win yet? Sure it's $30 but it's a replacement connector that actually lasts.
  4. That's what it should be without a load. If you test the voltage on an unregulated PSU like these without connecting it to anything, you're going to get a slightly higher voltage than what's labeled on the PSU.
  5. I've used Shopping Mall Japan for years, they only charge a $4 flat commission fee for YHJ auctions and they let you buy from a variety of places including Amazon.
  6. Meaning the 2-port 5200 consoles weren't manufactured after the Tramiel takeover, all of them were made when Atari was still owned by Warner.
  7. Atari Corp. had nothing to do with the 2-port consoles.
  8. I'd rather stick with an original Nintendo one, third-party ones tend to be unreliable from what I've seen.
  9. I'm in the middle of revitalizing a spare N64 I had laying around, and I'd like to get an Expansion Pak for it so I can get more interest in it when I sell it. If anyone's got one for a reasonable price drop me a PM!
  10. That is a steal for that price, really clean work too.
  11. It should be possible, though you'll have to remove the two 7805s to prevent backfeed and link the two 5V rails together. I would recommend using an iPad charger or at least something that puts out over 1A just to be safe. What connector do you plan on using?
  12. Anyone up for a repair challenge? Got a busted ZX Spectrum +2 that I'm looking to get rid of

  13. I'm assuming you mean US releases? TV system doesn't matter with the Game Gear, and all of them run at 60 Hz.
  14. While you're at it I'd highly recommend replacing the kernal ROMs in both the C64 and 1541 with JiffyDOS. It doesn't require a special cartridge and it vastly improves disk load times.
  15. Anyone know how to make a CompactFlash card bootable for a Win98 PC? Trying to use one to replace a dying HD on a laptop

I've already got an adapter, the problem is that the laptop refuses to boot from the CF card even when formatted using the Win98 boot disk.

Hmmm ... did you remember to transfer the system files? Here's the procedure that I remember doing with my CF card:

      1) Partition the CF card with FAT32

      2) Boot the Win98 disc with CD support (MSCDEX)

      3) FORMAT C: /S

      4) Copy the CAB files into a folder on C:

      5) Launch SETUP.EXE from the folder to install Win98.

      One that I forgot:

      0) Make sure the laptop is properly detecting the drive in the BIOS. If the laptop has a HD size limitation, you might need to use an overlay manager like Disk Manager.

  16. Will entertain offers on the modded consoles.
  17. LOL I misunderstood the thread since I didn't glance at the first page. Oh well. I haven't had a large number of consoles hooked up at once in like 10 years, it got to be way too much to handle and my setup at the time didn't allow for much in the way of cable management. At this moment I just have my RGB-modded 2600 Jr. connected to my PVM and the AVS connected to my computer monitor.
  18. Has anyone else tackled a 2600 Jr. install? I just wrapped up one on mine this morning and it was probably one of the trickiest RGB board installs I've ever done. Getting the flex adapter soldered on was actually pretty easy, the tricky bit was getting the connectors on since I didn't want them on the sides. Just adding a 3.5 mm audio jack required a bit of guesswork and luck.
  19. Wow, a thread from 16 years ago got necroed. Well I guess now that it's back I'll chime in: Amiga 600 Atari 2600 Heavy Sixer Atari 2600 4-switch Atari 2600 Jr. Atari 5200 Atari 7800 (I have two, one has the expansion port and the other doesn't) Atari 800 Atari 800XL Atari XEGS Atari Lynx model 1 AV Famicom Commodore 64 Commodore 64C Commodore VIC-20 Dreamcast Famicom FC Mobile II Game Boy Game Boy Advance Game Boy Advance SP (AGS-101 model) Game Boy Color (have three, Grape, Teal and Berry) Game Boy Pocket (have three, silver, black and gray) GameCube (with Game Boy Player) Game Gear N64 Neo Geo AES NES front loader NES top loader Nintendo 2DS PC Engine PC Engine Duo-R PlayStation TV PSX (SCPH-1001) PS2 (fat) RetroUSB AVS Sega Genesis 2 Sega Genesis 3 Sega Mark III Sega Master System (I have two, one is an American model and the other is Japanese) Sega Mega CD II (European) Sega Mega Drive (Japanese) Sega Nomad Sega Saturn (model 2) SG-1000 II SNES mini Sony HB-F1XDJ Super Famicom TurboExpress Twin Famicom Wii Xbox 360 S ZX Spectrum +2 (dead)
  20. Send Simius a PM, though I don't know if he's starting up a new production run soon.
  21. I think right now the current video mods for the 5200 are really good, you've got Bryan's UAV mod if you want S-video, and Simius' SOPHIA if you want RGB or component. I have the SOPHIA mod on my 5200 and the picture quality is amazing through RGB.
