WTB: Atari XE Light Gun (In pretty condition as usual)
ApolloBoy replied to Skippy B. Coyote's topic in Wanted
The Atari light gun has the same issue as well actually. -
LOL

Considering it's $40 I'd say so.
-
IIRC it's switchable to either 240p or 480i.

Thinking of ditching my IIGS setup...

Essentially yes. There might be a few unique corner cases.. But you'll have access to over 99% of the //e library.

@Tempest: Nah, it just hasn't held my attention and all it's been doing lately is just sitting on the shelf

Also wanted to add that the battery is still in good condition and I also repasted the CPU when I replaced the keyboard. -
Longhorn Engineer made a template a long time ago that works pretty well, I used it back when I did modding commissions: http://longhornengineer.com/images/atarivideomods/design/Videomodprintout.doc

I'm looking into selling my 2015 Dell XPS 13 that I bought as a MacBook replacement but didn't work out. It's one of the mid-range models with an i5, 8 gigs of RAM, a 256 GB SSD and the QHD (3200x1800) touchscreen; everything works perfectly and there's very little wear on it, with only a few minor scratches here and there. The keyboard was replaced with a non-OEM model (the original one had some weird stickiness to it) but it works like a charm. There's no OS loaded but it made for an excellent Ubuntu machine last time I used it. Might even make for a nice Hackintosh laptop too. I'll also be throwing a sleeve, the original charger and a tip adapter so you can use the charger from a Dell Latitude or larger laptop with it. Looking to get $600 for the lot.

It did, actually.

I have a VA1 Japanese Mega Drive and it does indeed have issues with distorted audio. I fixed it by tapping the audio from the CXA1034 preamp chip and routing it to a couple of RCA jacks at the back. It's been my main Genesis/MD console for years but I think the VA5 & VA6 boards are better, the distortion on my VA1 drove me nuts until I figured out it was a design flaw and not a capacitor issue.

Isn't it just an easily replaceable barrel tip PSU though?

Just an update for my console, I recently swapped out the S-video mod for Simius's SOPHIA board so it now has RGB output.
-
I'm using a Sony PVM-1354Q, both my 5200 and 800XL are using RGB.

The 7805s are actually a good distance apart from each other on both the 5200 and model 1 Genesis, and actually the Treco regulators shown by the OP are only slightly bigger than a 7805 minus heat sink. In fact I just installed some switching regulators in my 5200 yesterday and so far so good. I recommend installing a 220 uF cap across the output though, since you'll get some significant video interference otherwise.

The graphics were spruced up for the NES release while the Famicom version is more faithful to the original arcade game in that respect.

New Colecovision Component Mod Kit
ApolloBoy replied to the_crayon_king's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Yeah I'd think you'd have a lot better luck (and a lot of interest) with an RGB board. Yurkie doesn't offer DIY kits for his RGB mod so having competition would be really nice. -
Current best S-video /picture improvement mod for 800XL?
ApolloBoy replied to iainjh's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Honestly I didn't mind the extra work (I used to do a ton of NESRGB installs years ago so desoldering chips isn't too bad now), and the amazing picture quality was well worth it. Except that I am using a CRT. -
I'm interested in one.

Simius's SOPHIA RGB/component board is the way to go these days.
