  1. Boot the Apple because uhhh people especially loved ones are more important than goddamn old computers
  2. Holy crap, that's that Retromod guy who got banned here a few years back.
  3. The 7800 is made of super brittle plastic so that's why they get broken so often in transit. Same thing with most other Atari Corp. consoles and computers, especially the 2600 Jr.
  4. I dunno, sometimes you can luck out that way. Within the past month I bought a 2600 Jr., 800XL and a 1984 7800 that were sold as "untested" but they all work perfectly fine.
  5. There's actually a hole in the top of the shield so you can get at the color pot. All you need to do is get the top of the console off and that's all.
  6. You guys wanna move that to the Heavy Sixer thread or something?
  7. I'd be interested in a full set of 1984-style labels.
  8. Try fitting a SIO connector, a DB15 connector, extra RAM, a POKEY, a YM2151 and all the supporting circuitry in a 7800 cart. Good luck.
  9. Got it in today, it's definitely higher quality than the later models. One other thing I noticed is that the RIOT chip was replaced at some point, all the other chips have 1983/1984 datecodes but the RIOT has a 1986 datecode. There's no other indications that this was ever serviced.
  10. It does since the RF modulator for the NES also incorporates the AV jacks and almost all of the power circuitry for the console.
  11. Have you tried removing capacitor C64 on the motherboard? That's what usually causes a lot of the compatibility problems on later 7800s, I clipped it on mine and now I can play almost anything.
  12. Got mine in the mail sooner than expected. It's definitely got higher quality plastic, the texture is more noticeable and feels pretty solid compared to the later models. The motherboard looks to be of higher quality too and all the major chips are socketed so that's a big plus.
  13. I think he means component, which makes sense.
  14. Bringing back this thread as I recently bought a 1984 7800 and I'm thinking of transferring my LHE mod over to that system. For anyone that has an expansion port model (or heck, even one of the later Taiwan models) with an LHE mod, do you get this kind of interference?
  15. You'd wanna look for a PowerBook and not a MacBook Pro, MacBook Pros only came with Intel processors. Actually I might be willing to let go of my 12" PowerBook G4, send me a PM if you're interested...
  16. I just bought a very early 7800 with the expansion port today, and as I've never owned one before I'm curious about the build quality on these models. Is the build quality just as bad as the later Atari Corp. models or is it slightly better? And is the cartridge port any different than later models?
  17. Just picked up an early model with the expansion port on eBay today, the SN is AT8450797.
  18. What's the 7800 proto out of curiosity?
  19. Anyone else's MyIDE II a piece of junk?

  20. Any of the A8s would be fine honestly, personally I'd look into an 800XL since it's only slightly larger than an XEGS and you don't have to worry about keeping a keyboard plugged in. The 5200 is nice but you're seriously missing out on a lot of great games by just sticking with the 5200. Plus if you decide to get a flash cart or SIO2PC/SIO2SD you'll have a way of playing 5200 exclusives on the A8.
  21. Got my new 800XL and it didn't boot up. Now it lives. Amazing what wonders can be done by simply reseating chips.

It's amazing what that can do. I've revived several things from 2600's to arcade games that way. Try that with today's tech!
