For me, NES is the only system that feels dated, or not as special as once before. The games aren't as fun, a lot seem babyish, or my taste has changed.
-
Blocky artwork and simplified gameplay is something that can be understood. All one has to do is tremember the of primitive computers and arcade games in the early times. It's to be expected and it fits. No other excuse is needed.
-
But to answer the original OPs comment. Yes most of us develop a discerning taste over time. The babyish "N" games don't hold interest for too long.

Go play some Faxanadu right now! If you still feel the same afterwards...Well, at least ya tried

If you look online, or in Atari Age market, you could maybe find something cheap... still almost 2 weeks to go. -

who likes the disc controllers and who does not?
JacobZu7zu7 replied to vprette's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Spoiloid! Oops... misclick. Question to anyone: How do you hold an Intellivision controllers ? My answer is above. I feel its far from awful, but not wonderful either. I vote (some games its okay), and others not. Space Armada just HURTS, but Tron games, maze games and that seem to work great with the d-pad and the controller design seemed to influence the future for sure. Most consoles of its area used a stick with just 1 red fire button. The Intellivision controller could have used softer side buttons and more durable disc, (in some consoles) the disc gets flattend over time. If a few quirks weren't holding it back, I'd give it the wonderful too. I do like the controllers though, it works with the type of games made for the system. -
My pampered Intellivision and it's violent death
JacobZu7zu7 replied to Blarneo's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Oh yeah makes sense... weirdo bully kids break stuff. 😛 So the NES came AFTER the Intell was broken? Yeah I remember when I was very young, NES was all over the place, I was using my bros Commodore 64, so I didnt crave NES... until it was cheap lol 1990 onward. My opinion on NES gone way down since then, I still have my fav games, but the bulk of the games, feel like a chore to play and babyish. -

JacobZu7zu7 replied to Blarneo's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I dunno why they would wreck it, wasn't their property, and anything that plays games and has graphics leave alone. I never broke any game stuff that I can recall,.... not even a controller, I only broke 2600 joysticks, due to them wearing out on me. I have had some issues lately with a few systems, Intellivision stopped working. Odyssey 2 also. I have a working Intel, again... , so far so good been a few years now. Will you be collecting for Intv again Blar? I see you have Vectron as a picture, one of my favs on the console Underrated game big time. -

With Stella emulator. I cannot set direction pad for new emulation controller (using MAP). Went set, it goes up or down, or left or right but not all at once. Only up-diagonal when held down, and when i get UP working.. right wont work.

Intellivision Season 12 Begin date JANUARY 25TH
JacobZu7zu7 replied to JacobZu7zu7's topic in Intellivision High Score Club
Deciding as time goes on -
Problem with this game, is there's no level number visible on screen. I guess we just play on, farm a bit if want to... but don't just stay on level 1, which would be an easy way to score high. Later levels its not easy to farm anyway. If I remember correct. Games with maze boosts should reward the BIG points for clearing the stage, and keep points earned during levels low.
