  1. There was a thread a bit ago where someone asked for some Sears games. I came away from that thread with the understanding that there are roughly six Sears games that are harder to find than others: Backgammon Checkers Frog Bog Roulette Snafu Soccer I'm missing three of those, so I won't bother asking to see if anyone has any dups to offer. But I'm also missing these. Maybe they're not very rare and someone has a dup to offer to me? Astrosmash Hockey Sub Hunt Tennis Also, if I'm wrong and these are decently rare also, let me know that. I'm interested in knowing what I'm up against... Rick
  2. Ah, I see this wikipedia article has most years: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intellivision_games There are a couple of blank entries there I see, but maybe I can fill that in via other sources.
  3. Ok, I know this isn't what I asked for... Can someone point me to a list of all the cart releases (i.e. the original 125) with dates of release? I thought this would be easier to find, but the main FAQ doesn't have release years shown. I could probably generate the info via poking around intellivisionlives, but hopefully someone knows of a resource that already compiled that info?
  4. I know, I used the term homebrew... Is there a resource somewhere that lists the various post 2000 releases with dates? At least years? For some reason I like the feeling of knowing "this is a 1980 game", "this is a 2004 game", etc.
  5. I see with some relief that I put my name in back in May. I hope that means I'm "in" to be contacted about getting one.
  6. I can't wait for this release. I attempted to do a little bit of beta testing for John, but didn't follow through with much feedback for him (sorry!). This is a favorite genre of mine, and one that is too little represented on the Intellivision.
  7. The set I got didn't have a box at all (I think?). If it had a box, it would have been very small - like a box for a deck of cards. But I might be making that up. I know I didn't get the nice, yellow box that so many other show off on their shelves beside their games.
  8. I'm so jealous of everyone who got a box with their Orphan Overlay sets! I got a set before the boxes were part of the deal and then didn't pay much attention later when the boxes became available! Ah well...
  9. I believe I had a spreadsheet when I was actively searching and collecting. But once I "finished" the collection (got the 125 CIB) I really haven't been tracking anything anymore. The games are all displayed on shelves, and the consoles and other miscellany are in a cabinet. We recently put a TV in our basement and I now have a spot where I can have an Inty unit connected and ready to go at any time. That's been pretty great.
  10. I got a set of something like Rev's cushion discs: I got those in a package from intvsteve! Thanks! My other "oddities" aren't particularly rare and probably don't warrant mentioning... but I'll do it anyway! A set of Sticklers CIB! And those door knob sticks - PointMaster Quik Sticks. I had none of these back when I was young. I definitely wanted a set of stick-like adapters for the disc controllers, but never got anything commercial. I ended up trying to use a plastic suction-cup dart for a bit, but that was not really workable. I tried the Quik Sticks just a bit - pretty dreadful. The sticklers work pretty well overall. I think I would have liked them back in the day if I had had them. But honestly, I was pretty used to the disc. I really wanted sticks for friends who would play with me and complain about the discs...
  11. So what's the take-away for folks who want to play with porting a game to Intellivision? Get rights no matter what? Make the port but don't use the proper names? Make a play-alike that isn't "too close" to the original? What if a few arcade game clones showed up as rom images, not sellable products?
  12. My thoughts were pretty much the same as what others have posted. For some reason, a nostalgic part of me still wants arcade ports on my Intellivision. I don't really know why - I have a MAME cab and can play the originals. Back in the day it's all I wanted and I guess I'm still holding onto that desire.
  13. I actually wrote up a review of Meteor in my "Intellivision games on a MAME cab" series. http://www.rickandviv.net/index.php/intellivision-games-on-an-arcade-cabinet/meteor/ There's a really crippling flaw when/if you use hyperspace that I wrote up there. It really feels like the unfinished game that it is.
  14. I think I can help you out. I replaced a couple of controller discs with after market sticks (the "stickler"s) and I don't think I'll be putting the discs back in them again. I'm pretty sure I can find the discs. PM me with your address. I'd be glad to send them along for the cost of the shipping.
  15. Just to kind of (?) close the loop here: Firstly, I got the wrong Joe above. It was Joe Fisher who replied on intvprog with the helpful advice. Secondly, I wasn't able to get it to work despite trying very hard to install newer FTDI drivers. I'm not a windows expert, so I'm going to stop messing with this. For me, the CGC is going to be relegated to XP machines. As indicated above, there's always the Ultimate PC controller to use - unfortunately I don't have it with me on this vacation!
  16. Joe Z did indeed respond on intyprog. I hope to get a chance to try out his suggestion tomorrow. I'll report back here with results.
  17. I posted this question to the intvprog list, but I'll try here also. I'm trying to run the Nostalgia emulator on windows 7 with the CGC controller interface. I have Nostalgia running fine (all system roms found, etc.). But it doesn't look like the CGC is working. I've installed the driver piece, but still nothing registers in Nostalgia. Is there anything special necessary to get this working in windows 7? I've had no problems that I remember on XP.
  18. Nothing much in terms of original ideas: I went with the gatefold boxes and Imagic for games. The gatefold boxes were my introduction to the system and they just mean Intellivision to me. They do such a nice job of showing the materials, although I end up hiding the overlays in the manuals so that they don't slip out. Imagic just seemed overly cool to us as kids, both for their inty releases and their atari releases. As others have pointed out, they seemed to think outside the box a great deal.
  19. I'm aware of three basic types of inty controllers (well, I'm categorizing them as three, not including the connection style of hardwired vs. plugs): 1. Controller from the original Intellivision: long controllers and bubble style buttons on the keypad 2. Controller from the Intellivision II: wider controllers and flat buttons on the keypad 3. Controller from the INTV System III: full size controllers and flat buttons on the keypad Were there any others? Here's how the systems map out (mostly?): Intellivision - long size + bubble keypad (hardwired) Intellivision II - wider size + flat keypad (plugs) Sylvania model - long size + bubble keypad (hardwired) INTV System III - long size + flat keypad (hardwired) INTV Super Pro - long size + flat keypad (hardwired) Tandyvision - long size + bubble keypad (hardwired) Sears Super Video Arcade - long size + bubble keypad (plugs) I believe I've seen pics of INTV III's with bubble keypads also. Were they sold that way as a variant? Or are the ones I've seen frankenstein systems? Also, were any other systems besides Sears and II sold with pluggable controller ports? My inty back in the day was an original Intellivision, so I'm very partial to the longer sized original bubble style controllers. I like the feel of the keypad buttons that gives a little feedback. But for folks who have tried them both, are the flat style buttons something that can be gotten used to? I don't see me ever getting used to the wider controllers on the II. The button spacing on the sides just feels wrong. But maybe it has less tendencies for thumb fatigue?

  21. I'd be happy with a loose one - I just want it to be working.
