AtariAge Welcomes AtariSoft Programmer Matt Householder
65Gamerguy replied to thevnaguy's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I received a message from Matt yesterday on my youtube video of Matt Patrol/Moon Patrol, telling me he was the programmer. I was quite shocked to hear from one of the programmers from 1984 to say the least! Shocked may be an understatement since this was a first for me. Hard to believe my little channel caught his attention to begin with. Matt all I can say is that many of us love what you did even if it didn't get officially released, which is a shame. If you have a desire to retrace your roots and do any more programming for the ColecoVision, any input you provide will be very much welcomed by the whole community, I am pretty sure of, but I can't speak for them. For now you probably have alot to catch up on with the whole hombrew community so I won't bother you with questions. Welcome to the forum and good luck with whatever you do! -
Computer games you want on the ColecoVision
65Gamerguy replied to Pixelboy's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
What about Bounty Bob strikes back? I don't recall much about the game except that it didn't get released for the CV. Was it any good to begin with? I am just asking because I like Miner 2049er although it is difficult as hell on the CV compared to other versions. -

Who Wants To See A 2nd Run of Ghosts n Zombies?
65Gamerguy replied to VectorGamer's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Wait? What? You are going to give away a future game free to someone because he professes his love of GnG? Talk about a 180 there after denying others from the last game! I mean my comment as a joke, no harm intended. This is your game and you created it, and I respect your wishes. And Crazy Climber is pretty crazy about this game so why not? I respect your work in creating this game and I hope you will do more in the future when you have the time. -
POLL: Interested in more ADAM Super Game conversions?
65Gamerguy replied to NIAD's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
How cool would it be to have Mystery Man hack the ADAM version of Super Donkey Kong into Crazy Kong? Anyone remember that game? OK it might not ever happen and I won't hold my breath, but I would buy it in a heatbeat! Except for MAME I don't know of any system that got a port of Crazy Kong. I could be wrong, but it would still be cool to play it on the CV. -

First of all let me begin by saying I respect your decision about not releasing another batch of this game. You made it and you can do what you wish. I understand that. The only way I got to play this great game was by the incredible kindness of Colecomaster who loaned and mailed me his game all the way from Canada to myself here in the states. Thankfully he received back with no damage or anything. I guess what I don't understand is that you seem to want everyone to be curious about this game, but not allow anyone else except for the lucky ones that got it, originally, to be able to actually play it. I also understand that the people that bought this game consider it rare and valuable. But from what I have seen most of these games sell less than 200 copies, so is making another run of say 50 or 100 more going to have that much of an impact? It would still be a rare game so to speak. I don't buy games because I think they might be valuable someday, I buy them because I want to play them. I don't fault others that do that, it is just not my thing. You are certainly a person who stands by your word and respects the collectors that wish to have a rare game. But as a fan of this great game, who only got to play it for a week or so, I would buy a copy of this great game in a heartbeat. I sincerly hope I have not offended you or anyone else by my comments. -
Are controllers normall "stiff" feeling
65Gamerguy replied to metzger130's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
As far as I know you can use the super action controllers for any game. The extra buttons are only used in games that require them. -
POLL: Interested in more ADAM Super Game conversions?
65Gamerguy replied to NIAD's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
When I first bought my ADAM computer I played the "Super" version of games on digital data packs, and I thought they were awesome. The games I have are Super DK, Super DKJR, and Super Buck Rogers, which was the game that came with the ADAM. All of the screens with all of the cut scenes, and you could save and print your high score! it was amazing to me at that time. I guess my thought is why not let everyone enjoy them? Not everyone has an ADAM computer, so it seems like a good idea to let others see what they missed out on. Also, and maybe I am in the minority here, but I enjoy playing different versions of the same game. For instance I still enjoy playing the Atari prototype Pacman even though Opcodes version blows it away! I like variety and I don't really think it takes anything away from future better releases. I have a tremendous amount of respect for all of you that make these fantastic games for the ColecoVision. Everyone of you do a fantastic job. It is humbling to me to even have the oppourtunity to communicate with you. Kind of like if you had the chance to talk to a Coleco game programmer back in the day! But now we can, how cool is that? Just my two cents. Kendal -

I still do but your point is well taken. MP3 it is. -
As some of you may know when you pause some Colecovision games you get some pretty cool music. I have recorded some of them and converted them to a Windows Media Audio, or WMA format. I apoligize to any users of Apple products, but there are programs that can convert them to files that you can use as well. I have the following files for anyone interested: 2010 Frenzy Front Line Rocky Slither Spy Hunter Subroc Buck Rogers Zaxxon Time Pilot If there is any interest let me know and I will upload them. Many Thanks 65Gamerguy

I have attached a mock up I created of Moon Patrol. I realize it is probably not doable, just for fun. Hope you like it.

I guess it depends on if these rocks are programmed as sprites instead of a background image. I admit that I am not a programmer just trying to help out is all.

How about using black as the second color something like this:

ColecoVision Music - Jump by Van Halen

Awesome work Dan! I really appreciate all you have done, and still do. Thank You! -
Wow this just keeps getting better and better!

I am a big fan of VH as well. Never got to see them live though. Back in about 1982 or 83 I spent almost three hours on the phone dialing over and over trying to get tickets to see them in Kansas City, but all I ever got was a busy signal. Who would have thought back then a VH song would be in a ColecoVision game, granted 30 years later, but better late than never right? Pretty awesome if you ask me. Dan has, once again, done another great job with his amazing CV musical ability! Bravo!

Russ, WOW! Sounds very impressive! You are the man!

Since I didn't remember the arcade game I just watched a video of the game, about 6 minutes or so and I tend to think the one screen does get repetitive. So I like your idea of different screens with different layouts and landing places. I think that would add more to the game myself. I wonder how you plan to implement this though, so many succesful landings and you go to another screen, or by points, or at random? In your arcade mode will it be in black and white, or color? I am just asking is all. I don't know how much memory all the options you mentioned will take up, but I guess I would vote for as many as possible. But I don't want to make things so complex that it becomes a pain for you to program. Just my two cents worth, it is your game and however you do it is not as big of a deal to me since I really look forward to playing it when it is released! Keep up the great work!

Looks really good! Can't wait to see more!
