I don't have any priviledged info either, just what I know from his videos. He seems to have a knack for quality from what I have seen is all. Not that others don't by any means!! I wasn't implying that at all. I was referring to your post about the possibilities of different options at the start of the game, as in which version you wanted to play at boot up is all. Maybe I wasn't clear and I apoligize for any confusion.

I have been reading and following this since, like many of you, I always wanted this game back in the day for the CV. But I admit I don't recall ever seeing the arcade machine back in my youth. I guess I would prefer it to be as close to the original Coleco games as possible myself, with the blue game selection screen etc. since this was "supposed" to be released. And I think Luc/Pixelboy came up with a nice compromise above about offering options on which version you wish to play. But with that said I don't want it to get too complicated either, if that makes any sense. I guess what I mean is don't let your brain explode Russ, if you can work all of this out, fine, if not that is fine too. I just want to play this game! I think that Rip Cord is in pretty good hands. Russ seems to have a true love of doing this and a great eye for details, so I am not worried to much really. I suspect he will deliver a great game, and I look forward to getting the game, plugging into my ColecoVision, and going back in time.

Looks fantastic! Keep up the awesome work!

I was 17 years old when the ColecoVision came out. Before then a friend of mine owned an Atari VCS, as it was called back then, and we had so much fun playing games on that console. But when the CV was announced and I saw ads for it I was blown away! I was working at McDonalds at the time and I saved up some money and bought my CV the next May, 1983 while I was still a senior in high school. I don't rememeber where I got it, possibly Montgomery Wards, but I remember it was a week night and I played Donkey Kong for hours and I had to go to school the next day. I remember telling my friend Darren in class the next day that he should come over to see my new ColecoVision. My house kind of became gaming central after that. On the weekends my friends would come over to see and play the new games and we would take turns and play all the new games, staying up very late at night, and ordering pizza from a new company called Domino's. It was so much fun trying to get a better score than someone else while they were there, and vice versa. I am still great friends with all of them, though some have moved away, and we don't see each other as often, but who would have thought that a gaming console would be such a big part of a valued friendship that I still have with all of them to this day. Granted it could have been a card game or anything else that could have created the same bond, but in our case it was mostly the good old ColecoVision that did it for us. Sorry for the long story.

No disrespect here either but I busted out laughing at this comment!!!

If I was a multi millionaire I would sign you, and everyone else up for sure! Just to see what you all can do. Plus just think what fun it would be! I can see the headline now: CRAZY MILLIONAIRE BLOWS MONEY ON COLECOVISION GAMES. He is now broke and on food stamps film at 11. Oh well maybe there is a nice wealthy woman in my future that I haven't met yet, since the lottery doesn't seem to pay off very well.
-
Well the other day I won $2, so I would only need to do that 100,000 more times to pay one person, but then that means I have to spend $100,000. So let's see here, I have to pay taxes on my winnings, so now I am at about $60,000 give or take. Hmm it seems the venture is in a reorginizational phase before it gets off the ground!

Luc, Congrats on the milestone! And I also want to thank you for everything you have done keeping the ColecoVision alive! It still amazes me that people like yourself, and others, go to so much trouble to make games for a 31 year old game console! To be honest I love it! I truly wish I had the money to buy every game. Maybe if I hit the lottery I could not only buy every game, from everyone, but I could finance all homebrew developers, and pay them for what they are really worth, say $200,000 a year or so. (Hey we can all dream can't we?) Thanks again! And if I can be of any help let me know.

A question if I may. Besides the forum here and each game developers web pages, is there really any actual advertising done? I don't mean ads on TV or anything like that. I ask this because I don't really see much except for what I read here, and through e-mails, and occassionally on youtube. It is kind of a situation where you have be in the "in crowd", to find out about new games and a lot of people don't know. There have been many awesome games created by many of you that people don't know anything about, and I think that is a damn shame. Granted some are sold out but if we could get the word out and enough people are interested, maybe that would push the issue of possibly making a second run of games. Or if nothing else it would increase the interest in new upcoming games, and hopefully increase sales of future games. Is there some way we can possibly do more, as a community, to promote any and all games? I am open to any ideas and will do what I can to help out.

I agree and I hope that means there is a bigger market more than initially expected but in the long term. People that find out about the game after it's initial release, maybe weeks, months, or years later. No one can predict when or if that will happen though so it is a gamble. If it was up to me I would hope you all sell several thousand copies of every game! I don't think most people know the quality of the homebrew games that are made today, which is a shame. And if I can be of any help I will show the world your great creations!
-
I guess my intent was to ask if there as been an increase of demand of homebrew games in general. I realize that not all games will be a hot seller, but just a question of if you developers have seen an increase in demand.
-
Let me start off by saying I greatly respect the work that everyone has done making homebrew games for the ColecoVision. I love it, and I love everyones dedication to my favorite 80's console. I have done what I can to promote every game on my youtube channel and I will continue to do so in any way I can. I honestly wish I had the money to buy every game everyone creates but I have to be financially sound in my decisions to purchase games which leads to my question. There are many games that I have missed out on that I would really like to purchase, but they are no longer avalable. It seems to me that most games sell out in a short amount of time due to limited quantity. Granted no one knows if the games will sell out, but it seems most do. Is the demand increasing for homebrew games? And if so, is it possible to maybe increase the total numbers of games produced? I am a big fan of everyones work and I will do anything I can to support all of you in any way I can. I don't know all the answers, so I am just asking. Kendal

PM sent with a list of the boxes I have that are on your list.
-
NIAD, Thanks for the detailed information! I don't know the whole story about this but what you say makes sense. I am pretty certain that the box was not a CBS version, but the regular US version, since I don't recall seeing or knowing about CBS Coleco until a while later. The label is glossy just so you know. For some reason I don't seem to be able to post pictures here, otherwise I would attach a photo. I think you are correct that since this was one of the last "official" games for the CV that they cobbled together what they had and sold them as they were.

I think there may be more to this since I own a copy of Evolution which has the slot overlays in the back and I bought it locally here in Missouri around 1984, not by Telegames, which I had not heard of until many years later. As I recall this was one of the last games available at the time for the ColecoVision. I no longer have the box but the front of the cartridge has english and french and the back has the overlay cut outs but no text at all imprinted in the plastic. It also has the sydney presents during boot up. You can view it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDVzXp9RHuE

I have this game on DDP but I don't seem to have the box. I have almost all the other Adam software boxes, but not this one.

I learned of Daniel's work back when Dacman was released circa mid to late 90's. At the time I didn't have the money to buy the game, but I wanted it so bad! After I started my Youtube channel he contacted me, and it was like getting a message from the Beatles or something! Daniel, I hope you will continue to advance the ColecoVision community. Your hard work is appreciated by myself and many others.

CollectorVision NEWS! Membership, VLOG and more!
65Gamerguy replied to retroillucid's topic in CollectorVision
I just got in, totally cool! I noticed that Pooyan is on the ROM list but I happy to report that I just orderd that game from Gooddeal Games about an hour ago! I do prefer to buy the actual games when I can. I noticed that the Beta Testing section reports a 404 Page not found error. I am willing to offer to beta test games if anyone needs it, just let me know and I will do what I can to help out. I never would have thought back in 1983 when I bought my ColecoVision that 30+ years later there would be so many great people doing so many amazing things to advance the cause! I have to admit there is so much going on these days it is hard to keep up with all of it! I give my great thanks to everyone involved, your hard work is greatly appreciated! If I can do anything to help out in any way, feel free to contact me. 65Gamerguy AKA Kendal -
Super hero games on CV - why not?
65Gamerguy replied to CoLethalVision's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
I think the issue with both Superman and Batman or any DC characters is that they are owned by Time Warner who also owned Atari at around that time. Not sure of the date though it may have been later on. -
ColecoVision Console/System Replacement Stickers

Wow! Very nice! I can't say i have a need for it but it looks awesome! -
Just wondering how big of a player was Spectravideo back then? I know of them through some games that they released for the Coleco and I have seen ads for the computer, the one with the built in joystick, but I don't recall ever seeing much from them here in the US, not saying they weren't, just that I didn't notice. An interesting idea though, I wonder how it would have played out. Like you said though it was pretty much everyone to their selves, so it might have been to late, but I like the idea.

I bought an ADAM (expansion module 3) from Montgomery Wards sometime in 1984, I don't remember the exact date, it seems like the weather was nice so maybe that summer. They had one on display at the store with the game Super Buck Rogers in the Digital Data Drive, and I played it several times before I finally bought my own. I never really had any problems with it. I used to type letters to my friends in college on it, play games, and do some basic programming. I even bought the spreadsheet ADAMcalc, but it was way over my head for a 19 year old. I used it until the early 1990's when it stopped working, which I suspected was a problem with the ColecoVision and not the ADAM itself, so I gave it to a friend of mine and when he got it home and hooked it up it worked perfectly, DOH! A few years later (mid 1990's) I asked him if he still had it, and that I wanted it back, he was fine with that since he had not used it much. Once I got it home I fired it up and put in Super DKJ. It made some funky sounds and the game wouldn't load. Come to find out, and I don't know for sure but I think one of his daugters put something in the drive, because there was a sticky substance on the tape and the drive itself. I orderd a new drive from Adam's House and found another copy of Super DKJ, and the thing worked just fine. I still have it but I haven't used it since the late 1990's. The only issue I ever had was that sometimes it would eat one of the tapes, sometimes worse than others. But I found that if you take the tape out and place a pencil in one of the drive holes and rewind the tape by hand, by spinning the pencil, to the beginning and put some tension on the tape and let it sit for a few days to get the crinkles out of it, the tape would work fine. I guess I got mine after the initial kinks were worked out since I never had a major failure or anything.

CollectorVision --- Summer News! --- Taito Legends
65Gamerguy replied to retroillucid's topic in CollectorVision
A question if I may, how different will Jungle King be? Just the title screen or will the game have the tarzan like character?
