  1. Neither could the Colecovision. What's your point? My point is that the friends that I have didn't appreciate Atari's business nonsense. They had invested a lot of money in the systems thay owned, and then guess what Atari has a new system that won't play your old games then another. And none of them were compatible on any system, even the Atari computers. At least you could still play CV cartridges on the Coleco Adam. Granted every system becomes obsolete eventually, but in my opinion Atari was just foolish and it turned a lot of people off.
  2. I noticed that I totally mispelled programmers. Sorry about that.
  3. I know that this thread is pretty old but I thought I would give my two cents worth since I lived through that time. I honestly don't know what caused the crash, and as a teenager, I would have kept buying games, and I did, until they weren't available. In my opinion Atari did much more damage than Coleco did, at least to themselves. The Atari 5200 couldn't play 2600 games and the 7800 couldn't play 5200 games. At that time I had several friends that owned Atari 2600's and none of them purchased any newer Atari systems. One friend did buy an Atari 400 computer. This is just my perspective of how it happened the way I saw it unfold in the day. I am not saying that Atari caused the crash but they certainly didn't help the bottom line of the company.
  4. I have a friend that works for Caterpiller in Illinois, I think I will contact him and see if he can find out something about this.
  5. I've started a topic asking people here about the possibility to make a oomplilation of my CV games, a kind of "all-in-one" cartridge. It looks like it's possible, that I just need to leave a message and the project will be lunched, but I didn't get much interest in the project so far... maybe a Youtube video can spread the word about this, what do you think? I think a youtube video is a good choice. It would probably get more feedback than from what you may receive here since the base is broader.
  6. Daniel, I know I am a little late to reply to your original post and I don't know if you will receive this but here are my thoughts. I think Murp74 said it best that you were the "godfather" of homebrew ColecoVision games. To give you some perspective When I first got on the internet with AOL, yes I used AOL, in 1995 I found out about games that you had programmed, mainly Dacman. I was excited and thought that maybe the ColecoVision isn't dead after all. Unfortunatly at that time I didn't have the ability to purchase that game, and later I heard about other games that you had created. Back then we didn't have you tube so there was no video of Dacman but I really wanted to play that game. I wanted a Pacman game on the ColecoVision! You were like the savior of the ColecoVision with Dacman. I truly respect your work. As far as I know you were the first one to do this. I am not saying that as a fact just the first one that I knew personally of. This brings up a point that I kind of have a problem with, and point I think you are tying to get across. Since I wasn't able to purchase your fine games in the day I have them today only as roms. I know that that isn't really right, and that is why I feel kind of bad about it. It is not my intention to steal from you or anyone else. You made these games and you deserve to be compensated for them. I don't know how the homebrew system was back then, so I don't know how you even distributed the games at that time. I admit that I have roms that you and other people created and I have been reluctant to make any you tube videos of them out of respect for the creators of these games. But if they aren't available any more how can we get them? I'm not sure of the answer to that question because in a way it amounts to the same thing, theft. In my Youtube channel I want people to see the ColecoVision and everything it can do. I would like to show every game ever made for it. I know my videos don't do it justice, but I am not a TV personality so it is what it is. But I don't want to include games from people like yourself have done if they think it was stollen, so I am not sure what to do about some of these roms. I can understand your frustration. I wish many other ColecoVision owners, and I know there are many more than watch my videos, and know about the homebrew scene, knew about the work that you have done, and others. Only you can make the decision of what you need to do. Whatever you decide I wish you well and will respect it. As a fan thanks for all the work you have done. Best wishes, 65Gamerguy
  7. Wow! Looks pretty awesome. I can see now where all of the money I work overtime is going to be spent in the next few months if not longer.
  8. Yes you were one of the great people that I was referring too. And I have enjoyed some of your games and plan to make videos in the future with your permission. I have been busy working overtime so my you tube video output has been a lot slower but I haven't given up. Thanks again to all of you!
  9. I have owned a ColecoVision since I was 17. I bought one about a month after it was released. I fell in love with it and still do love it. I was dissapointed when Coleco stopped making games, because I felt there was so much more that the ColecoVision was capable of. And many of you of shown us that with these new awesome games. I have seen and purchased games from some of you that were made many years after the ColecoVision's demise and I want to say how much I respect the awesome work that you all do making new games for the ColecoVision almost 30 years after it was released. I realize that there isn't a big market for games for it today and that you all don't make much money off of it, but as a fan it means a lot to me that all of you are willing to do what you do. Every one of you that has programmed a game for the ColecoVision, has done it because you, are either crazy, (LOL) or because you wanted to see more games for it. That is something I have always wished for since I was a 17 year old. And you have all made it possible with your outstanding work. So to everyone that takes the tremendous amount of time it takes to make all of these great games I just want to say thank you so very much. I know this applies to about every system available, and I applaud anyone that does this for every classic game system because we die hard fans love it. Take Care, 65Gamerguy
  10. Yurkie, I really can't put into words what a fine job you do. You modded my ColecoVision a few months ago and I am very pleased with the results. And the return time was amazingly quick. I will always recommend you to anyone that needs a CV fixed. Your the man!
  11. The eyes are backgroung graphics. So you can have all 4 ghosts in the same scanline and no flickering. Thanks for that information. As good is this game is, it is in no way near as good as your opcode version, it pales in comparison.
  12. After seeing the unreleased Atari version of Pacman on the ColecoVision, which I think is a pretty good version, I noticed that the game doesn't seem to have much "flickering" when 4 or more sprites are on the same horizontal level like other games do. I admit that I never got past basic programming on my ADAM, but I do know a little about the ColecoVision's limitations so my question is to you fine people that have way more knowledge than I have about programming. How was Atari able to do this as well as they did? Has anyone studied the ROM to see how they pulled it off as well as they did? Many Thanks!
  13. There is a US boxed version of Donkey Kong. I purchased one several years ago and still have it. I can only assume that it was made for people that puchased a stand alone ADAM computer, which didn't come with Donkey Kong on cartridge, but instead the Buck Rogers supergame on digital data pack.
