  1. @KubaCZ, did you ever get around doing the Czech translation? Ahh, I totally forgot - I have reinstalled Windows so I lost the progress, but now I have time again co I can write it from scratch again, will try to have it complete this week
  2. I have used 1050 power supply on 400 and 800, even NES/SNES PSUs work iirc, but try it at your own risk
  3. a) For me, it looks more like original one.
  4. I can do Czech translation, but only if no coding is needed - I don't have any IDE for Qt/C installed and I'm pretty bad at it anyways
  5. I'm still learning with AVRs, so if something goes wrong I warned you, but I haven't bricked any AVR I tried yet From programmer's name, it seems it's STK500 compatiable. Is it registered as COM# port in your OS? If it is then you can use AVRdude to get firmware in there. It should be something like: Oh, and I forgot - get AVRdude from WinAVR package, which is free and you can find it on google in few secs
  6. Or you can stack 2nd pokey on first one, but I'm not sure if it would fit in 600XL, as I don't have any (yet ). I am not feelin the love for stacking them... especially considering small Gumby PCB's are pretty cheap... w1k: no, 64k first, and if its NTSC, then AV mod... sloopy. Well for me it is the same thing as making holes in case. Also I'm lazy to etch such board and I don't want to buy something that can be done easier - I'm using sockets so second pokey can be reused without any problems

  8. I haven't used it for few months, but if I remember correctly then it was really just resistors connected to pins 11,7 and 9? There is also simple sound generator included in the library. About overlay, I have no clue too - hope somebody here knows.
  9. That could be formidable. The Arduinos don't have video output themselves. However, there is the Gameduino shield: http://excamera.com/sphinx/gameduino/ Still, the Arduino runs this "display" by sending commands over SPI. Like a serial terminal.. Vaguely like the XEP80 "80 column" display that hooks up to the Atari's joystick port. It would still be formidable. Somehow the video from the Gameduino shield has to be mixed with the Atari's. There's actually very simple composite output library - it's called TVout, it's not really something impressive with color and hires graphics, but it's made out of 2 resistors http://code.google.com/p/arduino-tvout/
  10. This is reason why I don't play on C64/VIC20 too much - it's hard to get something there. I'm using 1541-II connected to P1 MMX machine with XE1541 cable and star commander. It's not really fast but it works - but you need 2 floppy drives and still it's not something like SIO2PC, but it's cheap 1541 ultimate II works as good or better -more options- than sio2sd but its very expensive Yeah, that's the problem - I've got C64 and 2 floppy drives donated so I don't want to spend much money on it - still preffer Ataris Also isn't there problem with demos/games/etc. with speedloaders? iirc if the drive isn't emualted in lowlevel then it doesn't work.

  12. http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/197652-atari-proto-collection-1450xld-1400xl-1200-1090-xl-expansion/ 7 mins ago I wonder for how much this will go - it's also interesting how the 1200 prototype has other surface than others, never seen that before.
  13. I'm using Sony PVM-1442QM monitor, which I guess is studio monitor, I've got it donated with few other things so I don't know how hard is to find it... also Commodore 1084(S) etc. monitors are good I hope you'll post results
  14. Hi I don't have any XE machine open right now, so I've looked into 800XL board and it says 104 too - that means it's 100nF cap. I'm not really sure but if the RAMs are by MT then they are probably dead, are you getting some picture - red screen for example? and yes, these caps will work
  15. Having alternative OS is good when you have atleast 320kB of RAM, I have 27512 in most of my upgraded Ataris, where I have: speeded XL OS, QMEG 4.04, stock OS and 800-B OS. Firstly I thought that it's too much upgrades for one Atari, but now I can't imagine loading everything at 19200b
  16. For OS 27128 ROM is used, for basic I thought that it's 2764, but that has more pins...I'm sure somebody here knows. But I think it's not worth buying for testing just one chip
  17. Maybe 8k ROM which is holding basic is dead - it's the smaller one. Take it out of socket and try to clean it. If you have (E)EPROM programmer then you can try reading it and comparing it with basic.rom files you can find on net. If it's okay then it can be other things = I can't help here. Also try to load cassete without pressing option - just press start, and see if it loads normally... Edit: This is only true if you have stock XL OS, not the one with inverted basic loading or something like that.
  18. Get RMT and write it yourself by editing one of the sample songs... I really suck at making music but this doesn't seem to be too hard to make
  19. There's already big thread about it - http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/193194-my-atari-xegs-project/
  20. So that's how 1084 is supposed to look Mine is yellowed alot, but it's near old VIC 20 which is yellowed too, so it doesn't look that ugly - I should restore both of them some time
  21. I don't think that many people will want to trade it.. also isn't easier to upgrade it with more memory instead of searching for 130XE? But if you need it to your collection, then ok .
  22. Maybe is possible to connect XEGS keyboard directly to Pokey? but it would look ugly and I haven't tested that - it's just idea
  23. 800XE is very common here in CZ. 800XLs are somewhat rarer, but not too much. Then there sometimes show 130XE's and 65XE's, I've seen 600XL only few times, same with XEGS. And 400/800 I've seen only 1 time each and bought both of them
  24. Without any doubt: http://home.comcast....2600-daptor.htm USB interface for connecting Atari 2600 Joystick, Driving, and Paddle controllers to your PC/Mac. Seconded - I have two, and they work great. That looks like nice device, I've done something simillar with Arduino, but never got it working with any software except my own - because I don't know how to write drivers . Also hacking cheap USB gamepad and adding DB9 connector shouldn't be too hard.
